How often do you wash your hair?

Frankie Bridge has said on Instagram that she's now gone 4 days without washing her hair.

I wash mine once a week - is everyone else doing it every day?! AIBU to think 4 days is nothing?

Twice a week max - hate doing it!

VerifiedBot2351 · 12/04/2022 10:12

Every day otherwise I feel gross.

SpringHasEventuallySprung · 12/04/2022 10:13

I wash mine every day as it’s short and gets sweaty on my morning runs. I used to wash it every third day when it was long as it got greasy quite quickly.

CounsellorTroi · 12/04/2022 10:14

Once a week.

Mymindisnotmyown · 12/04/2022 10:14

Twice a week - it’s really long and thick so I have to plan it in!

ImInACage · 12/04/2022 10:14

Normally every other day, although I'm on day 4 and it's ok, a tad greasy, but it's up in a pony tail today.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 12/04/2022 10:15

Twice a week. I used to do it every other day but it really doesn't need doing that often.

Motnight · 12/04/2022 10:15

3 times a week, maximum. I used to wash it 6 times a week, but don't need to now.

I think that a combination of wfh, age and a silk pillowcase has meant that my hair looks and smells completely fine for at least 3 days before it needs to be washed again.

ForeverWaitingInForParcels · 12/04/2022 10:16

Good point @SpringHasEventuallySprung - when mine was pixie short I washed it a lot more often in the shower as it was super easy. Now it's really long it's a faff doing it over the sink.

Maybe the length makes a difference?

Two-three times a week. Any more than that and it starts to get greasier quicker.

DogsDryWineAndCheese · 12/04/2022 10:16

Every 5-6 days. I seldom make it to a week without being like a chip pan. But I can do just under completely fine. I’d say washing your hair every 4 days is positively indulgent Blush

Torontoflyer · 12/04/2022 10:17

One of the (few) benefits of menopause is that I can get away with washing my hair on the second or third day! I used to have to wash it daily.

refraction · 12/04/2022 10:17

Everyday or it gets cottery and sticks out all over the place and I feel dirty if not.

Furrbabymama87 · 12/04/2022 10:18

Every day. But mine is fine and gets greasy quickly. People always say try going longer between washes and it won't get greasy. It's because you're over washing it. But I've tried and didn't work. It needs a daily wash.

HouseofHolbein · 12/04/2022 10:18

Every time I have a shower. It’s a grade 3 tho so not really hair 😂😂

Comedycook · 12/04/2022 10:18

Twice a week...on Tuesday and Friday

MyDcAreMarvel · 12/04/2022 10:18

7-10 days I have long think wavy hair. Doesn’t look greasy. Can’t imagine how people have the time to wash hair daily.

Elphame · 12/04/2022 10:19

Once a week. It's very long, quite dry and coloured.

It's too thick to wash under the shower so I have to use the bath with a final shower rinse. Such a faff.

ILikeCrapTelly · 12/04/2022 10:20

Used to wash it most days when I was at work.

But I'm on maternity leave now and trying to do it twice a week - 1) because I'm not out every day so don't mind if it's a bit dirty in the house, and 2) because it's falling out at a crazy rate and the more I wash/dry/style it the worse it is so I'm trying to leave it alone.

During the first lockdown I only washed it once/twice a week and never bothered drying or straightening it because I wasn't going anywhere, and it was the best condition it had been in for years!

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 12/04/2022 10:21

Twice a week. Wednesday and Saturday or Sunday normally

monkeysox · 12/04/2022 10:21

Any more than a couple of days surely you smell of dirty head?!

ForeverWaitingInForParcels · 12/04/2022 10:21

@CounsellorTroi and @MyDcAreMarvel - thank god I'm not the only one! 😂

Mine just doesn't get greasy! I do it on day 7 for a refresh. Weird as when I was a teenager it was greasy all the time and I was washing it like crazy.

Am i missing a trick?! I have hair above shoulder-length which is fine altho a lot of it, and i wash it every other day. I can sometimes eke it out to a 3rd day if my hormones aren't against me, and ive had it pinned up. Once a week?! This would be amazing!

5128gap · 12/04/2022 10:22

I've worked up to weekly as I thought it was better for it. Its not greasy and is more manageable when not washed often. Its also waist length and thick, so takes up to 8 hours to dry. But, the colour of the water shows its really very dirty by wash day, which isn't great. As its blonde it also looks darker (from dirt!) and also sometimes picks up cooking smells. So, i think I'm going to have to increase the frequency again.

PurpleDaisies · 12/04/2022 10:22

Every other day. Less and it gets greasy. More and it’s a frizz bomb.
