How often do you wash your hair?

Frankie Bridge has said on Instagram that she's now gone 4 days without washing her hair.

I wash mine once a week - is everyone else doing it every day?! AIBU to think 4 days is nothing?

Once a week max.

userxx · 12/04/2022 19:27

@Georgyporky

Every morning in the shower. Can't believe that some people leave it so long.

Can't believe some people wash their hair everyday. Mine would be a ball of dry frizz if I did that.

I'm a twice a week girl.

I don't even shower every day! Shock bloody horror!!
NameChangeCity123 · 12/04/2022 19:29

Every other day

ouch321 · 12/04/2022 19:30

Daily otherwise I wouldn't feel clean.

MinesATriple · 12/04/2022 19:32

Every third day now. I'm working on stretching it to 4.

Only with a certain shampoo though. If I use anything else it tends only to last a couple of days.

GrouchyKiwi · 12/04/2022 19:41

Every second day. I used to be able to do it once a week and then we moved house, which somehow changed things. Angry

rc22 · 12/04/2022 19:54

Every day but it's poker straight and very fine. It gets very flat and oily quickly and I can't find a dry shampoo that doesn't make me itch like crazy.

ihatesoaps · 12/04/2022 19:56

Every day

SunshiningBoo · 12/04/2022 19:59

Twice a week. My hair is quite long and when it was shorter I washed it every other day.

707smile · 12/04/2022 20:00

At most- 3 times a day (but I have OCD), at least once every other day.

lisaandalan · 12/04/2022 20:09

Every day and bath or shower twice a day. X

IamnotaStepfordHousewife · 12/04/2022 20:09

Mine is naturally poker straight and dark so shows up oil very quickly. I have to wash every day as if I don't the next day it is flat and clings to my head with noticeable grease. However I wash it at night and let it dry naturally whilst I sleep as I am very lucky and can literally run a brush through in the morning and it's done. Washing and conditioning take 10 to 15 mins max. I've been told by hairdressers and friends my hair is healthy and very soft. For some of us it doesn't harm it washing everyday. However if I was blow drying and straightening that would be different.

seensome · 12/04/2022 20:17

Every other day, it's below shoulders and thick. Sounds a bit weird but I wash and dry before I go to bed as it's too much faff in the morning, I just run the straighteners over it in the morning.

waitingpatientlyforspring · 12/04/2022 20:20

I wash mine most days but I try to exercise most days and I sweat too much to not wash after a zumba class! If I don't exercise then I wouldn't usually go more than two days. I'm currently camping so washed my hair on Monday and possibly won't do it again until Friday. It feels horrible though.

User48751490 · 12/04/2022 20:24

Every other day.

user1471443411 · 12/04/2022 20:28

About twice a week - even though it is a bit drier on the ends it get too greasy after 3-4 days.

PaperMonster · 12/04/2022 20:31

@Furrbabymama87

Every day. But mine is fine and gets greasy quickly. People always say try going longer between washes and it won't get greasy. It's because you're over washing it. But I've tried and didn't work. It needs a daily wash.
Absolutely the same here too. My daughter’s getting greasy hair now and can get away with twice a week but her hair is long and she can tie it back so doesn’t look so bad. Mine won’t grow long now to enable me to do that so I keep it short and it has a daily wash!
pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 12/04/2022 20:36

nearly waist length now - not been cut for 21months - every 3rd day unless I've cooked something stinky like a curry or bacon butty.
when I was younger with just on the shoulder length, it would be every day.
I really miss having a leave-in conditioner spray (Elvive did a "light" one but it's discontinued).

WhereHasSpringSprungTo · 12/04/2022 20:36

Daily. It just goes greasy. Ive tried leaving longer as was told it would be better. So lockdown did a few days then longer. Ended up with a scalp full of oily spots.

Franticbutterfly · 12/04/2022 20:40

Everyday. I look like I've stuck my head in a plug socket when I wake up, also I exercise.

purplesequins · 12/04/2022 20:47

this is almost as good as threads about howoften you change sheets :o

I wash (with shampoo) twice a week, but almost daily/after exercise I rinse my hair under the shower.

Pokkadots · 12/04/2022 20:48

Once a week

Lunalae · 12/04/2022 20:48

Daily. Have done for 30 years. I have great hair and am glad I never believed all that guff about not washing it 'too much'. Unwashed hair is rank and greasy.

housemaus · 12/04/2022 20:52

About every 5-6 days.

Any more than that and it's dry and frizzy.

I have thick, curly hair though. If it was fine I imagine it'd need it more?
