How often do you wash your hair?

Frankie Bridge has said on Instagram that she's now gone 4 days without washing her hair.

I wash mine once a week - is everyone else doing it every day?! AIBU to think 4 days is nothing?

Every other day but I use a few products so it feels rank and doesn't behave by then.

ForeverWaitingInForParcels · 12/04/2022 10:24

@monkeysox Not that DH or anyone has ever said. Maybe they're all thinking it behind my back 😂😂😂

Twice a week usually. Most shampoo irritates my scalp horribly, the one that doesn't is £13 a bottle so I use it sparingly.

GodspeedJune · 12/04/2022 10:26

Have to do mine every day or it goes all flat. Fine hair. Envious of those who can even go every other day.

SlashBeef · 12/04/2022 10:27

Once a week if that. I have afro hair and over washing will damage it. And no it doesn't smell bad 🙄

Worldgonecrazy · 12/04/2022 10:27

Once a week or it frizzes. I have thick curly hair. I did manage several months of just rinsing it with water everyday (recommended by Trevor Sorbie during an interview) but it became unmanageable as a routine as drying it takes too long. However I got so many positive comments on how thick and healthy my hair was looking.

Washing it once a week means I can put it in a french plait whilst wet and let it do its own thing.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 12/04/2022 10:28

Everyday.

But I work outdoors with animals so it would be pretty disgusting to leave it any longer.

Lastqueenofscotland · 12/04/2022 10:29

Every day - sometimes skip a day. I run 5/6 times a week and have a horse.
It would be fucking nasty if I didn’t.

HistoricMoment · 12/04/2022 10:29

Once a week. I have dry hair that never looks greasy, so I can get away with not washing it often.
I do wash it more often when I've been sweating, which isn't very often as I don't do heavy exercise.

CoalCraft · 12/04/2022 10:29

Typically 3 times a week.

MarchingOnTogether · 12/04/2022 10:30

Mine gets greasy within a couple of days so I tend to wash it every other day,. Recently I've been using dry shampoo to get an extra day out of it but 4 days would be a big deal for me!

Oreoreo · 12/04/2022 10:31

I do mine twice a week - like a previous poster said, mines long and thick and tends to be a bit of an operation to wash and dry Grin I tie it up a lot though so it doesn’t really get sweaty/greasy

Hohoholymoley · 12/04/2022 10:31

Every 3 days. I wash myself in between obviously but I've long thick hair that takes 30 mins to blowdry. I'm not doing that everyday.

Hmum0fthree · 12/04/2022 10:32

Long thick hair currently once a week, heavily pregnant though and it doesn't get greasy when I'm pregnant, I also wear it in a bun every day Blush

AffIt · 12/04/2022 10:33

Two-three times - it's long and curly and I co-wash (not quite full Curly Girl, but elements of the method).

I prefer to leave it to dry naturally, so kind of have to plan in advance, particularly during winter in Scotland!

FrenchyQ · 12/04/2022 10:36

2 or 3 times a week. My hair is quite thin and gets greasy quite quickly.

theemmadilemma · 12/04/2022 10:36

I used to wash it nearly every other day to go to the office.

These days I wash it once a week for when I'm out and about at the weekend then it goes pretty much straight up in a pony tail and stays there until next week.

It isn't horrible and greasy by the end of the week at all, and my hair is in better condition for it.

Mrsjayy · 12/04/2022 10:40

Twice a week unless I'm going out "somewhere " then I'll wash it and blow dry it.

chocolateoranges33 · 12/04/2022 10:41

Every day. It's very fine so gets oily really quickly. I will wash it in the morning and by the time I go to bed I can feel the oil at the roots. I feel grimy if I don't wash it every day.

Pbjontoast · 12/04/2022 10:41

@VerifiedBot2351

Every day otherwise I feel gross.
Same
ButterflyBitch · 12/04/2022 10:43

Every 3 days. I used the first lockdown to extend it from every other day to every 3 days. #productive Grin

vdbfamily · 12/04/2022 10:44

I have long thick hair which takes most of the day to dry. I was it on a Friday or Saturday morning, which is really annoying as I will then often sirens weekend gardening and get it all dusty and full of hedge cuttings again!!! It does not get great in between but by about 9 days it will start to look more bedraggled!

BooksAndHooks · 12/04/2022 10:45

Every other day. Definitely couldn’t leave it a week.

AnwenDolly · 12/04/2022 10:45

Every four to five days.

whywhythough · 12/04/2022 10:47

@ForeverWaitingInForParcels

Good point *@SpringHasEventuallySprung* - when mine was pixie short I washed it a lot more often in the shower as it was super easy. Now it's really long it's a faff doing it over the sink.

Maybe the length makes a difference?

Why can't you wash it in the shower like you did when it was short?
