To feel like fucking crying?

My partner has a stomach bug. He caught it off the kids and he's had a couple of accidents.

Came in from work today to find the house stinking of shit. It's everywhere - our bed is going to have to be replaced, the bedroom carpet is ruined, it's on the stair carpet and the hall carpet downstairs.

I've just spent 45mins scrubbing the (tiny) bathroom because there was shit literally everywhere.

Can't really afford to buy a new bed but the mattress is heavily stained, now on both sides. It's going to cost hundreds for that and the carpets. Genuinely feel like crying my eyes out. Probably not helped by the fact he's doing nothing to help (like putting his soiled clothes in the shower rather than just leaving them). I've got piles of washing to do still too.

Aibu to be utterly fed up?

Is it on the walls

Pumperthepumper · 06/04/2022 15:34

@WeirdlyKind yes, I do. That's exactly why I'm asking.

User34352515 · 06/04/2022 15:34

This has to be the most disgusting thread on MN if not an actual poo troll. Surely you cannot reach adulthood with a partner and two kids without realising it's absolutely not normal for an adult to poo anywhere else but the toilet even with a stomach bug?

If it's genuinely so bad then call an ambulance and let him shit the inside of someone else's property full.

Hoppinggreen · 06/04/2022 15:34

Really?
Firstly why would he do this and Secondly why do you feel the need to share it?

TonyBlairsLover · 06/04/2022 15:34

@Pumperthepumper same I’d like to see the photo

Pumperthepumper · 06/04/2022 15:35

I'd actually like two pictures, the hall carpet with a thumbs up and the stair carpet with something yellow in the foreground.

blisstwins · 06/04/2022 15:35

Get an enzymatic cleaner like used for dog poo and use on the mattress and then bleach after. Add a mattress topper once it air dries and it will be fine. Can you rent carpet cleaners by you?

Ozanj · 06/04/2022 15:35

I think he should be cleaning it up personally. He clearly was going downstairs naked or in his boxers if he managed to shit everywhere. Lazy bugger. I bet he never lifts a finger even when he’s well.

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/04/2022 15:36

@WeirdlyKind

No additional needs. I think part of the problem is that our loo is downstairs and he's just not making it in time.
So you sit on the toilet all day. Or get a duvet and camp next to it.

You don't shit all over the house. And get your wife to clean it up. That's abusive.

NorthSouthcatlady · 06/04/2022 15:37

I voted YABU as l don’t know why you are cleaning it up. He sounds like a puppy who hadn’t been house trained. I had norovirus last autumn and didn’t shit all over the carpets or the bed. Does he not wear underwear or trousers?!

Fupoffyagrasshole · 06/04/2022 15:37

im sorry but this is absolutely shocking.

I'd be out the door to a hotel or my mums or anywhere until he's well and has cleaned up his shit

SmallChange11 · 06/04/2022 15:37

Yeah I call bull shit

KeepYaHeadUp · 06/04/2022 15:38

I've had the worst stomach bug ever and it was both ends. I made a horrendous mess in the bathroom but I banned my OH from upstairs until I'd scrubbed everything down with bleach, soaked the toilet seat in the bath, etc. The mess was unavoidable (once) but I bloody well cleaned it up.

Your OH is a pig

ClaudineClare · 06/04/2022 15:39

How long has he been ill for?

Fupoffyagrasshole · 06/04/2022 15:39

I just recovered from the same bug OP! I warned my husband to not touch my puke bucket and ensured he used his own hand towels and I cleaned the toilet after every incident myself - I wanted to ensure him and my baby were protected as much as possible from catching it!

TonyBlairsLover · 06/04/2022 15:39

Does he have any weird fetishes by any chance?…

WeirdlyKind · 06/04/2022 15:40

Here, have a pic of the bedroom carpet. I've chucked the hall carpet out.

There is no fucking way a grown adult should be shitting on mattresses or the floor with a stomach bug ffs. Why isn’t he cleaning it up? Bet he didn’t clean up after the kids when they had it. Disgusting. if this is real I cannot believe you are cleaning it and if it isn’t get some help Biscuit

MotherofTerriers · 06/04/2022 15:41

Hire a carpet shampoo machine and use the pet enzyme shampoo

Geezabreak82 · 06/04/2022 15:41

I had norovirus in a house with one bathroom and six adults. We all had it over the course of 3-4 days and no one shat on a bed or the carpet.

Chikapu · 06/04/2022 15:41

This is not normal even for Noro, a fully grown, fully functioning adult has zero need to shit all over the house.

Pumperthepumper · 06/04/2022 15:41

That link isn't working, can you add it to the thread?

amatsip · 06/04/2022 15:42

The advert at the top 🤣🤣🤣
It’s a message for you op

Christ, I don't know how to say this without being overly graphic!

It seems like he can't control his bowels at the moment. Literally goes through his undies and trousers!

This is NOT normal. I’ve had stomach bugs and the worst food poisoning (non stop both ends) and I NEVER had an accident. Yes I spent most of the night in the bathroom, but obviously as an adult you do what you have to. DH is the same. You really shouldn’t be cleaning up after him and definitely need to be having a word with him about basic hygiene. Sick or not, there is no excuse for this.
