To feel like fucking crying?

My partner has a stomach bug. He caught it off the kids and he's had a couple of accidents.

Came in from work today to find the house stinking of shit. It's everywhere - our bed is going to have to be replaced, the bedroom carpet is ruined, it's on the stair carpet and the hall carpet downstairs.

I've just spent 45mins scrubbing the (tiny) bathroom because there was shit literally everywhere.

Can't really afford to buy a new bed but the mattress is heavily stained, now on both sides. It's going to cost hundreds for that and the carpets. Genuinely feel like crying my eyes out. Probably not helped by the fact he's doing nothing to help (like putting his soiled clothes in the shower rather than just leaving them). I've got piles of washing to do still too.

Aibu to be utterly fed up?

But tbf, I once worked in a hotel with a gastro virus outbreak and the mess was unbelievable....... Vomit and s**t everywhere, all the toilets overflowing. It seemed to strike without warning.

Man not engaging brain. He should have thought to stay near the bathroom but didn’t.
First, wear a mask and gloves when cleaning up but I suspect it’s too late and you’ll probably catch it too.
Bleach for the bathroom, disinfectant and/or white vinegar for everywhere else.
If you have a Dettol spray use that liberally on everything including doors and door handles, taps.
Chuck any towels he’s used in the washing machine.
Any soiled clothing put through a cold wash first, then as hot awash as it can take with detergent and I’d chuck in vinegar too. ( I use a lot of vinegar!!)
Put washing machine on a rinse at the end.

You should be able to save mattress if it’s professionally cleaned or you can use a Vax or similar on it.
I sympathise, I am clean up animal poo anytime but human’s….. no way.

This is hard to imagine to be an accident. I have a partner with a chronic health condition which impacts his continence, and I while I have definitely helped with washing bedsheets before it is hard to see how someone could get the amount of shit around you are describing unless it was deliberate. Every very loose stools would be largely absorbed by underpants and trousers, surely? And even sick, it would be normal for the person who made the mess to clear it up.

OP, I’d move him off the sofa now and insist he camps out in the bathroom. The last thing you need is a sofa accident or for the sitting room carpet to get splattered too. From now until his bowels solidify, he lives in the bathroom with a duvet on top (a duvet you’re willing to burn later).

Kids can skip bath/brush their teeth in the kitchen. You can have a kitchen pit wash. DH budges into the kitchen or anywhere with a moppable floor for you and kids to use the loo, then he goes back into the bathroom. No more soft furnishings for him.

ComDummings · 06/04/2022 15:55

I also think he should get another opinion, once is understandable with noro but repeatedly absolutely is not.

DrSbaitso · 06/04/2022 15:55

Oh for Christ's sake what on earth do you think someone typed into Google Images to find that? Get a grip

Well, I know what I'd type if I were looking for it. Seems pretty obvious.

But I was thinking it was a dark mark and could be anything, not that OP had image searched for it. I also wasn't the one asking for the pictures, although I did click on them so I suppose I got what I deserved.

MyDcAreMarvel · 06/04/2022 15:55

This is odd behaviour, once with noro I thought it was wind, it was not! But it didn’t go beyond my underwear and pj’s.

TonyBlairsLover · 06/04/2022 15:55

@redbigbananafeet it did. Scroll back, I posted it as well

AnxiousHeffalump · 06/04/2022 15:55

Sadly, if you’ve been the one to clear it up, chances are you’ll get it too.

Femalewoman · 06/04/2022 15:55

Surely the 'shit' is contained within his pants? They can be taken off and thrown away. Is he a cat or dog and merely walking around shitting. Use the toilet, sit on it for an hour if necessary. Wear pants to catch and jogging bottoms.

How odd for a grown man to do this. Walking around with a trail of shit behind him. Tell him to sit down and sit still. Clean up his own mess.

WeirdlyKind · 06/04/2022 15:56

I honestly can't understand how he's managed to make so much mess. The bed I can understand, to a degree, because it hit while he was sleeping so he couldn't help it. The rest of it, I don't understand. I don't know if he's not moving quickly enough when the cramps start or what.

He's got incontinence pants now so it should hopefully be better!

Thought you were a troll but just seen the pictures. He needs to clean it, if it was you I'm sure you would still be cleaning it. Tell him he needs to sit/lay next to the bathroom until he is better . Give him some water and a pillow

ChurchlightJane · 06/04/2022 15:56

If he knew he was unwell he should have stayed next to or in the loo. Or at very very least kept a bucket by him. Or any bloody container. This is not about shit. The clothes not in the shower signal that.

Femalewoman · 06/04/2022 15:56

I posted my reply and then wondered if some sort of poo fetish person. I imagine they exist or perhaps a dressing as a baby fetish and he pulled his nappy off. Who knows/

TonyBlairsLover · 06/04/2022 15:56

Has he stopped shitting yet OP?

FateHasRedesignedMost · 06/04/2022 15:57

He must be very ill if he’s having accidents on the carpets, bed and not cleaning up after himself! Maybe get him seen by a medic in case it’s more than Noro?

As for the house: carpets can be professionally cleaned, mattresses can be replaced, bathrooms hosed down.

I’d be more concerned as to why this is happening to him rather than focus on the mess!

Really hoping not! I've done gloves and a mask while cleaning and I'm being extremely careful with hand washing so I'm hoping that I can avoid it.

Sad I’m not sure I’d clean up Tony’s shit off the carpet aha. I commend your bravery op bows

rugbunch · 06/04/2022 15:58

I would say you need advice as it's not normal to produce so much shit
