Boris Johnson ‘fat shaming’.

I’ve heard a couple of times Boris Johnson comment on Ian Blackford’s weight.

How is this okay?

You wouldn’t comment to a colleague about them “eating all the pies” so why is it okay for Boris to?

In front of so many people too…I know some will say it’s “banter” but I’m sure that’s been an excuse for a lot ot negative comments about people on the past.

Am I being over sensitive to think our PM shouldn’t be making such comments?

It's not ok but many will come on to talk about how unhealthy being fat is and not actually address the issue of fat shaming.

DrManhattan · 30/03/2022 13:25

No he shouldn't and he's not exactly slim himself

HoundHound · 30/03/2022 13:25

Boris can do or say anything it seems.

LoganberryJam · 30/03/2022 13:25

YANBU. It's offensive and infantile.

IncompleteSenten · 30/03/2022 13:27

Does he not own a mirror?

SartresSoul · 30/03/2022 13:28

How can he fat shame anyone? He’s huge.

Mischance · 30/03/2022 13:28

Well - pot and kettle springs to mind!

CounsellorTroi · 30/03/2022 13:28

He resorted to childish abuse in PMQ today calling Keir Starmer Captain Hindsight. He’s a total embarrassment.

Natra · 30/03/2022 13:30

He shouldn't. But he got elected despite all the horrendous shit he's said and done to a ridiculous amount of people, so he probably sees no reason to stop.

Nicholethejewellery · 30/03/2022 13:32

Blackford's always attacking Johnson though. That's what politicians do. A few weeks ago he was thrown out of the house for saying he'd misled Parliament, which is one of the most serious accusations that could be made and is not allowed.

If he can dish the criticisms and insults out, he needs to be able to take them.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 30/03/2022 13:33

Because he’s fat too?

I don’t know!

I think the concept that fat shaming is not OK perhaps hasn’t been applied to calling men fat yet, ie some people wrongly think it’s OK if the recipient is a man

lborgia · 30/03/2022 13:35

Yes, pot calling kettle fat. Also, name calling is not really something you want to see after primary school. Ah...

DrManhattan · 30/03/2022 13:36

@CounsellorTroi
I can't even watch PMQs anymore, Boris is a total cringefest. Sir Keir outclasses him every single time and Boris looks like the pathetic slob he is.

ISpyCobraKai · 30/03/2022 13:37

FGS the man brushes his hair with a hedgehog, he's hardly one to comment on looks.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 30/03/2022 13:41

It's their job to criticize behavior not appearance.

And then smoothes it over with a balloon.

etulosba · 30/03/2022 13:46

In my experience, all but the most sensitive of men couldn’t give two hoots.

Nancydrawn · 30/03/2022 13:47

Criticizing the appearance of another MP is pathetic and grotesque. Johnson should be roundly bollocked by the Speaker, in public or behind closed doors, but he won't be.

Criticizing the behaviour, statements, actions, inactions, and even at times the character of another MP is fine.

If Johnson wants to stand up and call Blackford a bloviating, ineffective leader who is bad for the country (not my opinion, ftr), then he's welcome to do so.

That Johnson instead uses schoolyard bullying tactics is both unsurprising and indicative of his own, enormous, deficiencies in character.

Curvesinallthewrongplaces · 30/03/2022 13:47

They could probably both do to lose a few pounds for health reasons, a lot of people could but you don’t publicly shame them for it…annoys me further that Ian is always well turned out whereas Boris can’t even be arse to comb his hair. Boris is just a hypocrite, through and through.

@Nicholethejewellery
Yeah, Ian might call Boris out and it is was MPs do but they should be doing so about their work and not their weight. Ian could weigh a literal tonne and be the best MP to ever walk the earth. It’s childish bullying. I could be wrong but I don’t recall Ian ever attacking Boris over something personal such as his weight.

Yes, Keir is a class act…I listen just to hear him grill Boris to be honest. The only think I’d like him to do is pin Boris down to a one word answer…he makes my skin crawl

OP posts:
Curvesinallthewrongplaces · 30/03/2022 13:48

Sorry, skin crawl was harsh but he makes be hop with rage over all his bluff

OP posts:
MangoReinhardt · 30/03/2022 13:50

Suspect he thinks that his target voters appreciate the bantz. He's completely unfit to be PM in every way.

LakieLady · 30/03/2022 13:52

@SartresSoul

How can he fat shame anyone? He’s huge.
Indeed he is, the lardarsed slob, but in his own mind he's probably slim and athletic.

But he's a total hypocrite anyway.

beatrixpotterspencil · 30/03/2022 13:56

Whatever he does or says, no matter the levels of corruption and lies, people will still find a reason to nit pick one solitary issue with the opposition and.............forget everything the tories have done.

Because Boris can do whatever he wants and the electorate will not hold him accountable. Starmer has to watch his every move. Interesting.

Considering the boundary changes, the tory interest in scrapping human rights and the coming necessity for photo id's to vote, i strongly doubt anyone is bothered about democracy here anymore.

WWRGD · 30/03/2022 13:59

And now we are talking about this instead of the partygate fines. Good distraction technique.

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 30/03/2022 13:59

It's Boris.

What else do you really expect from him?

He's still about 8.
