Boris Johnson ‘fat shaming’.

I’ve heard a couple of times Boris Johnson comment on Ian Blackford’s weight.

How is this okay?

You wouldn’t comment to a colleague about them “eating all the pies” so why is it okay for Boris to?

In front of so many people too…I know some will say it’s “banter” but I’m sure that’s been an excuse for a lot ot negative comments about people on the past.

Am I being over sensitive to think our PM shouldn’t be making such comments?

@Nicholethejewellery

Blackford's always attacking Johnson though. That's what politicians do. A few weeks ago he was thrown out of the house for saying he'd misled Parliament, which is one of the most serious accusations that could be made and is not allowed.

If he can dish the criticisms and insults out, he needs to be able to take them.

He has misled parliament, I think it is mad that it can't be said. Although Blackford said it and good for him.
Nightlystroll · 30/03/2022 14:57

@Blackberrybunnet

Why isn't Speaker intervening? YANBU
Maybe the speaker just thought it was a joke made as much at Johnson's expense as at Blackford's? Did you actually listen to what was said?
Yellownightmare · 30/03/2022 15:02

This is what happens when you vote a massive toddler into important office (cf. Mr D Trump, Mr S Hussein, and Mr V Putin). They have no control over their behaviour and you can't drag them out of the ball pit and make them sit in their rooms for biting the other kids...

Backtomyoldname · 30/03/2022 15:03

Ian Blackford wasn’t suspended the other week. He walked out before Lindsay could suspend him……. But he got close.

Johnson had mislead Parliament though. If you can't see the difference between what Blackford said then and what Johnson did today, then you're probably Tory who'll excuse anything your guy says and does because he "got Brexit done"Hmm

Read about Blackford and Charles Kennedy if you want a lesson in how to behave like an arsehole.

@Pyewhacket
I’ve heard him, he’s done it during PMQ

@beatrixpotterspencil

Whatever he does or says, no matter the levels of corruption and lies, people will still find a reason to nit pick one solitary issue with the opposition and.............forget everything the tories have done.

Because Boris can do whatever he wants and the electorate will not hold him accountable. Starmer has to watch his every move. Interesting.

Considering the boundary changes, the tory interest in scrapping human rights and the coming necessity for photo id's to vote, i strongly doubt anyone is bothered about democracy here anymore.

The photo ID thing is going to disenfranchise loads of people. The cheapest form of photo ID I could find is the Citizen Card, at £15, possibly plus the cost of photos if you have to have proper passport ones.

An under-25 on basic benefits isn't going to be able to afford that.

Curvesinallthewrongplaces · 30/03/2022 15:12

@Nightlystroll
I did listen, it shouldn’t have been brought up…is it okay to call someone a c*nt as long as you refer to yourself as one too? No, it’s not.

Again, it’s not the first time he’s done…he said something to him along the lines of “we know who’s eaten all the pies”.

He needs to grow up and realise that the world isn’t his uni boys club.

Blackstone doesn’t strike me as the kind of man who gives a shit, it’s all water off a duck’s back I imagine. As a pp says, it’s not as if our esteemed PM is exactly sylph like.

LBFseBrom · 30/03/2022 15:15

BoJo hardly has room to talk. He was very rude to make any comment on someone's appearance.

Iggly · 30/03/2022 15:18

He does it because Ian Blackford absolutely nails him every time, so Boris just deflects with a joke. “It’s just a joke, we are mates wink wink” bullshit. It has people laughing and the. They’re distracting from what Ian is actually saying.

It’s pathetic and yet another reason to add to my list of why Boris Johnson is unfit to be prime minister.

Blossomtoes · 30/03/2022 15:18

Blackford even!!

Perime · 30/03/2022 15:19

........... who, you personally heard him say this or are you just making it up ?.

He has said it more than once about Ian Blackford. He said it when IB was talking about eating cake at the illegal Downing Street parties. He said Ian looked like the one who’d been eating cake.

Indeed.

Blackford is a fucking vile cunt.

Calling him a fat fucker is the least I'd do if I was facing him in parliament.

Yuk.

derxa · 30/03/2022 15:22

Oh FGS. Ian Blackford has the hide of a rhino. This sort of exchange happens every week between them. It's not very edifying but there you go.

Johnson has misled parliament, he has lied in parliament. He continued to misled parliament today, when he was going on about how he was a tax cutter and then in the very next sentence was talking about the tax rise he has introduced that comes into effect at the end of the week.

I don’t understand why he’s said they’re mates on more than one occasion. What’s that about?
Curvesinallthewrongplaces · 30/03/2022 15:25

People might not like IB but then, including Boris. BoJo should then call him out about things that are relevant to him being a MoP and not because he’s overweight.

It really pisses me off, I’m trying to teach my kids about how everyone is different and it’s not a bad thing, reading bodies are cool, etc and then the person meant to be leading the country starts insulting another MoP about their weight.

Can you imagine if he’d asked an amputee if they’d hopped to parliament today…or made a joke about the person that’s come out of transgender, ‘made your mind up have you, hahaha’. There would be outrage.

OP posts:
Curvesinallthewrongplaces · 30/03/2022 15:27

It’s also not about whether IB is bothered, it can still be wrong of our PM

But Jeremy Corbyn.

Bringing up a (truthful) incident where BJ misled Parliament and commenting on someone's appearance are not the same thing. Fat shaming is vile. The only person possibly allowed to do that should be medical professionals in the appropriate environment with the appropriate amount of tact and empathy.

BJ doing it in a workplace and in front of colleagues is vile and another reason to see him as the fool he has already proved himself to be.

I wasn't asking you if you'd listened. I was asking someone who asked why the speaker hadn't intervened. I said that maybe the speaker heard it as a joke and asked if they'd listened. Westminster is a tough place and not for thin skinned people. I think Ian Blackford knows that, hence his treatment of the late Charles Kennedy.

SueSaid · 30/03/2022 15:31

I'm sure he's very aware he is fat himself. He's taking the piss out of himself as much as Blackford.

'The Tory leader claimed he and the SNP Westminster chief were both “a living testament to the benefits of moderation” during Prime Minister’s Questions.'

Unclench op.

Nightlystroll · 30/03/2022 15:32

@knittingaddict
Fat shaming is vile.

I'm fat and I don't like to be reminded so I agree. But I'm curious, when people constantly call Johnson a fat cunt on here, are you appalled by that vile behavior and do you call them out?
