To ask what you think of Kate Middleton?

Interested to hear some opinions. What do you think of her? I was just reading a Dailymail article where she and William are in Belize and people are complaining about them flaunting their lives and all that. People struggling and Ukraine on fire, etc and Kate and William are rubbing it in people's faces. What do you think? Yes, they definitely have it better than a lot of people but in one sense I also feel that she has to thread on eggshells being in the public eye so much. Say one thing she'll be crucified but if she says something else it will be the same, she can't win regardless of what she says or do. If she acknowledges and openly says that she's got it easy with her luxury lifestyle people will scream down her neck about that too. What do you think? What's your view on Kate?

I don't really follow any of the royals enough to form an opinion of her as a person however I do think a) as you say she can't win b) I hope that her and William do modernise the monarchy and 'streamline' it.

TheSpottedZebra · 22/03/2022 20:30

I think think she's been careful to present herself as blandly as possible. All we really know is she likes sport and children. And maybe being in the garden. I think she probably IS a bit bland too.

I'm not pro-monarchy and I think the whole thing is ridiculous.

FangsForTheMemory · 22/03/2022 20:31

I have no opinion one way or the other. I've never met her, so I don't feel I have any right to an opinion of her.

DdraigGoch · 22/03/2022 20:31

She hasn't been "Kate Middleton" for more than a decade now.

daisyjgrey · 22/03/2022 20:31

I think that you probably shouldn't read Daily Mail articles, let alone dwell on the contents.

Cascais · 22/03/2022 20:32

Love her

Pumperthepumper · 22/03/2022 20:32

She seems a perfectly nice woman.

I’d get rid of the entire royal family immediately though. Every one of them.

Brefugee · 22/03/2022 20:32

I think she is incredibly bland but she has great timing and did very very well to catch a prince.

You go first with your opinion on someone I’m guessing you’ve never met

this really - however they aren't on holiday flaunting their lifestyle - they are on official visits to Commonwealth countries as part of the jubilee - you know - doing their jobs
ENoeuf · 22/03/2022 20:34

She has a nonsensical job that she does well. She scrubs up, wears safe nice clothes, looks happy and interested in her surroundings and has produced three apparently healthy kids. Job done and she seems to love and be loved by her husband. Aside from that no idea.

DisforDarkChocolate · 22/03/2022 20:34

I think she has iron will, is a loving mother and makes sure William knows he was lucky to marry her.

Now the whole RF, their appalling lack of judgement over Andrew means I think they should be abolished.

tearinghairout · 22/03/2022 20:34

I think she's doing her job very well. She's pretty much the perfect candidate for the role. She's elegant and poised, and she is understated in her supporting role to William. They present a united front and seem happy. Some of her clothes choices are a bit dull and I hate those little hats she wears. But these are very small niggles. If I were her I would be more outspoken about injustices and good causes and would probably upset a few people. So some would say she's not using her position. But I would say she's doing a good job of not rocking the boat.

CornishGem1975 · 22/03/2022 20:34

Love her. Holds herself with poise and dignity. Doesn't put a step wrong. Reads the room and knows the assignment. Perfect choice.

Vapeyvapevape · 22/03/2022 20:35

I doubt it was her decision to go to Belize.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 22/03/2022 20:35

She seems perfectly pleasant.

LizDoingTheCanCan · 22/03/2022 20:35

She is immensely privileged and, for all her patronages, seems pretty oblivious to the real world. No opinion on her as an individual, I don't know her.

Theunamedcat · 22/03/2022 20:35

I think its highly disrespectful to refer to her constantly by her maiden name

I think they were invited and someone messed up getting permission for the helicopter and they did the right thing by cancelling that part of the trip to keep the peace

I think life does not stop because of putin invading the Ukraine sorry it just doesn't

Does everyone complain that the latest set of film awards shows shouldn't go ahead? No new films shouldn't be made because they cost millions and it flaunts wealth? No the space station should we stop reporting about that? If cost billions and there are Russians there!....Still on my TV though

Molly70 · 22/03/2022 20:35

I think that she took on a role and is doing it really well. It would have been easy for her to get married to an anonymous rich man, like her sister, and just enjoy the life of a rich wife. She chose a more difficult life, one that many women in her position would have shunned as they couldn’t deal with the scrutiny. I don’t think they are flaunting their wealth, they are just doing a job representing the Queen and the Commonwealth.

evilharpy · 22/03/2022 20:36

My opinion of her is limited to her outfits, most of which I like. She always seems smiley and I'm sure she's very pleasant.

Yes absolutely
Crabjuice · 22/03/2022 20:37

I think she's a complete mug, given the amount of affairs her husband has had, that are constantly hidden by the UK press.

That aside, no other opinion.

How do you know?
MsTSwift · 22/03/2022 20:38

I liked that she went to the Sarah everard memorial before it all kicked off. That made me warm to her.

I’m sure she’s perfectly nice but personally would do away with the royal family entirely as a concept it’s ridiculous elevating one family we bow and scrape to, The Andrew thing is the absolute last straw.

HesterShaw1 · 22/03/2022 20:38

I don't really think anything of her other than liking the work she's trying to do with early childhood development and education. I also admire the fact that she's very dignified.
