To ask what you think of Kate Middleton?

Interested to hear some opinions. What do you think of her? I was just reading a Dailymail article where she and William are in Belize and people are complaining about them flaunting their lives and all that. People struggling and Ukraine on fire, etc and Kate and William are rubbing it in people's faces. What do you think? Yes, they definitely have it better than a lot of people but in one sense I also feel that she has to thread on eggshells being in the public eye so much. Say one thing she'll be crucified but if she says something else it will be the same, she can't win regardless of what she says or do. If she acknowledges and openly says that she's got it easy with her luxury lifestyle people will scream down her neck about that too. What do you think? What's your view on Kate?

I wouldn’t want her life for all her money. I think she does well to look good and not have an opinion. There must be so much she wants to say. But whatever she says or does is criticised. That why is a bland as can be.

I think she’s a right laugh in private. As for William having affairs, I doubt he would.

Jamoffmytoast · 22/03/2022 20:57

They are not swanning around on holiday, it's an official tour and pretty sure it will be incredibly hard work, meeting all these people, official functions, speeches etc. It won't exactly be a picnic!!

Would happily swap, for a Caribbean holiday with servants.

Gonnagetgoing · 22/03/2022 20:58

Nothing really. She’s William’s wife and a mother.

I do think she got a hard time off the press when she was younger (Waity Katie) but I also think her meeting Wills was a bit calculated.

Luredbyapomegranate · 22/03/2022 20:58

I’ve never met the woman so I don’t have one Grin

Broadly - no she can’t win, but yes she is super privileged, and yes she chose this life, so no I wouldn’t waste much time feeling sorry for her.

Jamoffmytoast · 22/03/2022 20:58

Sorry, a Caribbean 'work tour.' Still nice work if you can get it.

Viviennemary · 22/03/2022 20:58

I think the visit was a huge mistake. Its the organisation as a whole that needs to be abolished. No more royalty. The concept is archaic and not appropriate for a modern day democracy.

Brefugee · 22/03/2022 21:00

I love the Queen and I like having a monarchy. I don't want President Johnson or President Blair.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
boring. Really. Idiotically boring. There are SO MANY other people who could be a president.

LoganberryJam · 22/03/2022 21:00

I'm not a big fan of the royal family, but she seems like a very nice woman.

crispmidnightpeace · 22/03/2022 21:00

I'm white and British and so I don't want to speak over people of colour from Belize and Jamaica. They have an issue I'd rather amplify their voices.

Ohfgsnotagain · 22/03/2022 21:00

I think she’s so elegant classy and seems to define regal. She will be a beautiful queen.

Having said that, I do feel their current ‘tour’ is ill advised atm with the atrocity taking place in the Ukraine, it just feels so wrong. But I also feel these Royal tours look so out of place in 2022.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/03/2022 21:01

Well, I don't know her, but her life looks utterly boring to me. I don't like her style, but then I'm covered in tattoos and wear dungarees.

MoFro · 22/03/2022 21:01

Love her, she’s perfect for her role and represents the country so well

Not like the other miserable mardy non-princess married to the non-prince

WandaThePanda · 22/03/2022 21:02

I think its highly disrespectful to refer to her constantly by her maiden name

I find this argument quite bizarre - my taxes help find their lavish lifestyles so I’ll call them exactly what I want, thanks! I’d also argue that having an extended royal family living in luxury when there are millions living in poverty in this country is far more “disrespectful”

There's literally no need

Luckylau · 22/03/2022 21:03

I think she is very bland but it has its upsides however I notice that on this tour I am watching where they are going and what they are doing rather than focusing on them. That's probably the best selling point of the RF going forwards, quiet diplomacy, good PR for the country visited.

Benjispruce5 · 22/03/2022 21:04

I’m not a royalist but I think she seems very nice and aware of her privileges and tries to use them for good. I thought they were at work in Belize, not holiday.
Would rather we didn’t have a royal family though.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 22/03/2022 21:04

I like her. She is not Kate Middleton though so YABU

ChazzaGirl · 22/03/2022 21:04

@KitKattaktik

Her title is Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. She has been that for well over a decade. *@Teadrinker11* Do you have trouble with reality? Hmm
She was born as Catherine (known as Kate) Middleton. Do you have trouble with reality?
Andacherryonthetop · 22/03/2022 21:04

If we didn’t have a royal family, we would have to have a president instead of a prime minister? I didn’t know that

I like kate. I think she’s dignified and she champions important causes like early childhood education. She seems caring towards the people she talks to and genuine. She comes across as bland maybe because she has to maintain a certain set of standards. Living under such scrutiny must be difficult and I wouldn’t want that life despite the servants and the wealth!

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 22/03/2022 21:05

@katicomps

I don't care for any of them. I used to able to justify the royals existence but my opinion of them has been in freefall for a while now. Even ol' Lizzie.
I agree with the freefall comment.

One thing I like about Kate is that she walks normally. Straight gait Kate. Not all catwalky.

Rosebel · 22/03/2022 21:05

I used to really like Kate (and William) but have gone off them lately. Nothing to do with them being on a Royal tour which isn't really a holiday and it sounds really full on and hard work.
She just seems so blah and a bit boring. She's very attractive and I'm sure she's a wonderful mum and wife but if I hear the phase "she's so normal" ever again I will scream. I don't know her but she's the wife to the future King of England, had an incredibly privileged childhood and has been a member of the Royal Family for a long time, how the hell can she be "normal"?

Hadjab · 22/03/2022 21:05

She seems insipid.

enjoyingscience · 22/03/2022 21:05

I can’t separate my opinion of her from my general feelings about the monarchy, which is that it should be binned off immediately and all of its assets returned to the state. The only ones I have any time for are Harry and Meghan, who at least had the decency to quit.

Pretty sure this thread is supposed to be about Kate...
SarahBellam · 22/03/2022 21:07

I am not a fan of the whole monarchy thing. She is doing the job she has been trained to do extremely well.
