Hope you don't mind whytcvv just posting here as your thread reached the limit for posts

Posting your original OP here:- Ignore my previous thread-start as it didn't include important title"

whytcvv
When will the rules change as I completely agree this is unfair and I expect that you will all largely agree with me.

For anyone that doesn't agree, please explain your reasoning to help me better understand.

This reminds me of the weightlifting story from last year.

People that are born female and people who are born male should not be competing in these events together. Our physical bodies are not comparable.

Have as many genders as you can think of, but there are only two possible sexes that you can be born as and that is what eligibility in these competitions should be based on.

@exLtEveDallas
That sounds superb!

itsgettingweird · 19/03/2022 22:11

@exLtEveDallas

I’ve gone ‘out out’ tonight and as always, my extrovert DH ended up speaking to randoms in the pub. Turned out a chap he was speaking to was a senior rugby player, mildly famous (people asking him for selfies). Completely unprompted he started ranting about Lia Thomas… it was beautiful. This absolute hulk of a man (and his wife) both absolutely spitting tacks about unfairness, cheating, the end of womens sports and so on.

I’ve never met another Terf in the wild Grin and to hear him talk, the rest of his team feel exactly the same. Of course I had to ask him how he felt about Kelly Morgan… and he used a word that I can’t bring myself to type 😂

By the time we left there was an 8 person table all drunkenly raging about it, and for once it wasn’t my fault. Honestly, after being quite depressed about all this and how relentless it seems, tonight has given me hope.
(And I did point out that more people in the public eye need to speak out…I think he got me).

Fabulous Grin

We need more publicly known male sportspeople speaking out about this.

If men are highlighting the biological unfair differences then the sad fact of life is the men who need to listen just may well start.

We have no hope sadly if only woman stand up for woman.

springtimeishereagain · 19/03/2022 22:12

@purpleme12

Is it true that he's still got a penis and is allowed in the girls changing rooms with them?

Oh yes. The girls have to change with Lia and aren't allowed to complain about it or change elsewhere. They're also not allowed to talk to the press...

One of the girls on the squad said that this year everything has been about Lia, and there is to be no argument about any of it by the girls.

It's bloody awful.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 19/03/2022 22:12

It really hit home for me when DS-who rowed for GB as a schoolboy- was not interested in women's rowing at the Olympics because he was faster than them.

Think about that...

CaveMum · 19/03/2022 22:14

I’ll be honest, I’ve long thought that sport will be the straw that breaks the camels back.

As awful as it is, men in women’s prisons is too abstract a concept for many people to grasp/care about. Toilets/changing rooms are greeted with a shrug and “live and let live”, but put it into the spotlight of sport, which many people not entrenched in the Gender Wars care deeply about, and suddenly they can’t unsee it.

lifeturnsonadime · 19/03/2022 22:16

@Bellagio40

Those poor girls he competes against can’t even protest by not swimming because they will lose their college scholarships
Yes and sadly because these males have pitted themselves 'as the most oppressed' and because women have been conditioned to 'be kind' they are likely to face quite a lot of hate and even violence for speaking the truth.

This is what Transwomen are women leads to. Women and girls can never have boundaries free from men.

It is no surprise that in the same year that Thomas becomes the first transgender winner in swimming another male has been declared 'woman of the year' .

Transgenderism promotes male supremacy. All of a sudden the best 'women' are all male.

TigerMTV · 19/03/2022 22:17

That podium picture - next to the anatomical advantages of being male…. Says it all.

Feel really sorry for the women’s team. The dressing room behaviour is just a big fuck you.

If my DD were great at sport I’d be feeling pretty gutted right now.

GingerFigs · 19/03/2022 22:24

@arethereanyleftatall thanks for your post, that really puts it into an every day perspective.

ClariceQuiff · 19/03/2022 22:25

Just adding my YANBU to the new thread. Hoping this one doesn't end up doing the hokey-cokey between AIBU and Feminism!

I said this earlier, we may end up thanking Lia for bringing this into the light.

Welcome to the newcomers to terf island!

ReeseWitherfork · 19/03/2022 22:27

It seems Erica Sullivan (who came third) has been very vocal in her support for LT. I'm a bit baffled by this. I wonder if she'd feel the same if she had been the unlucky woman who missing out on a spot.

ISpyCobraKai · 19/03/2022 22:29

Perhaps she needs her funding?
I'd be very suprised if she was saying this freely.

MrsAvocet · 19/03/2022 22:31

Thanks @pombear
I decided not to quit, as though it galls me to belong to an organisation that is so hypocritical in its attitude to women, I know that if I leave it won't make any difference to the big picture but the kids I coach, and the people of all ages who attend the events I run would suffer as we are always short of volunteers.
But I might end up getting kicked out of course. Its like living in a dictatorship of some kind. I was talking to a coach from another club recently about our disillusionment with our governing body on a number of issues including "certain policies". I thought we were both talking about the same thing but wasn't certain until I saw he'd commented on someone else's Facebook post about Lia Thomas. We are obviously of the same opinion but when we were talking we were both to scared to say anything openly, as we weren't sure and scared the other one might report us to the thought police. This kind of thing must be happening all the time. I resolve to be braver!

GingerFigs · 19/03/2022 22:32

@mumsiedarlingrevolta 😮 wow, your post too puts it into perspective.

It's so bloody maddening. How on earth can this be seen as anything but cheating??? Ranked 554th in mens swimming and now winning in womens. As per, men get to trample all over women.

spacehardware · 19/03/2022 22:34

"Transgenderism promotes male supremacy. All of a sudden the best 'women' are all male."

Absolutely this. The vile misogyny of some prominent (Twitter anyway) trans women along these lines shows what they really think

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 19/03/2022 22:35

@CaveMum

It’s been said many times, there is no need for a third category, two works perfectly well:

Open - all men, transwomen and transmen taking testosterone
Women - women and transmen who have never taken testosterone

Simples.

NBs and other gender identities in the open, I assume?

tbh, I'm not sure how allowing anyone to take performance enhancing drugs would be permissible but it's no more complex an issue than the women's category is coerced into so it's definitely worth discussion and consideration.

arethereanyleftatall · 19/03/2022 22:36

I've just been on Twitter and searched on lia Thomas. There is so so much support for the women, and against lia. People are finally speaking out. I'm naively optimistic that this might be the start of the turnaround of this nonsense.

Selkiesarereal · 19/03/2022 22:37

I think that it is good that this is currently being allowed to stay in aibu and has had such a huge level of engagement to warrant a second thread.

Many will only just be waking up to what twaw and “be kind,” actually leads to.

It was sport that opened my eyes to this, I say my eyes, it was my dh who did so after ranting about a certain cyclist who in their eyes was a cheat. I had always stayed away from the feminist section as was firmly in the be kind camp/what harm is is to say twaw. Well boy have I learned a lot in the feminist section and once you start to read and understand the arguments against twaw, you get it, what the consequences of such ideology/be kind leads to - this and a lot worse to vulnerable women.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 19/03/2022 22:44

It makes it real. So much easier to see the differences between male and females stood next to each other on the podiums.

The blatant unfairness of it.

Yes it's true.

So many people will say TWAW, and "I don't care if a TW just needs to pee or try on clothes" etc then suddenly it's "except sports". Then it's "TWANW" when it comes to sports.

Then they need to unpick that if TWAW except in sports or for relationship purposes, are they ever actually W at all?
Most eventually come to the conclusion that no, no those terrible terfs have been right all along...

nolongersurprised · 19/03/2022 22:48

Yes I feel I don't have enough knowledge to back myself up with this kind of stuff

You don’t need specialised knowledge to back up what your eyes can see.

Someone shared this photo on the other thread, I think it's worth a copy and paste...this is our mixed relay team in the 2020 games...

AIBU*?

You are not being U. There are only two sexes for humans.

DeeCeeCherry · 19/03/2022 23:09

6ft 3, big hands and feet, greater lung capacity obviously, ranked 462nd or thereabouts among Male swimmers, now ranked No.1amongst female swimmers. Blatant cheating.

The money must be very nice indeed too£££, alongside the trophy and going down in history as a champion female swimmer.

It's like the emperor's new clothes. A nonsense that everyone sees, but the head honchos dont want to see or deal with.

Male born, male socialised trumps all.

Ridiculous
