Hope you don't mind whytcvv just posting here as your thread reached the limit for posts

Posting your original OP here:- Ignore my previous thread-start as it didn't include important title"

whytcvv
When will the rules change as I completely agree this is unfair and I expect that you will all largely agree with me.

For anyone that doesn't agree, please explain your reasoning to help me better understand.

This reminds me of the weightlifting story from last year.

People that are born female and people who are born male should not be competing in these events together. Our physical bodies are not comparable.

Have as many genders as you can think of, but there are only two possible sexes that you can be born as and that is what eligibility in these competitions should be based on.

Then ferociously aggressive and bullying tactics to silence anyone who questions that.

Not just aggressive and bullying - fucking expensive.

lost jobs, lost income, and huge legal fees to get the justice and rights we are legally entitled to under the Equalities Act.

Legal fees funded mostly by thousands of women contributing small amounts (from their mostly smaller salaries) to have our voices heard.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 24/03/2022 19:22

Genuine question.

People take astonishing risks with doping and trying to evade the testing.

Competitors attempt to cheat with the categories in the Paralympics.

I wonder if you fully understand the personal lengths to which some people are prepared to go to win, with no thought of fairness or justice?

DrSbaitso · 24/03/2022 19:27

I don't actually care about their motivation to destroy women's sports. I care about the fact that they're doing it, openly, being cheered for it and women who speak up can expect to be threatened, sanctioned and called the aggressors.

If you take the gender identity out of all of this shit, not just in sports, and view it as male people and female people, it's amazing how progressive and liberal and egalitarian and inclusive it doesn't fucking look.

viques · 24/03/2022 19:28

I really do wonder what Jason Kenny’s take is on transwomen muscling in(sorry!) on female sport, especially since he is now a official sprint cycling coach for Team GB. I know track and road cycling are different beasts, but the principle remains the same. After all Laura Kenny is one of the UKs most successful female cyclists and I am pretty sure she wouldn’t be happy to line up against post male puberty competitors. She probably isn’t prepared to speak out publicly as she still depends on funding and support, but I bet she has plenty to say in private.

These are comparable situations and that's the problem. The first two are, correctly, not allowed, and the last one currently is. He knows he's cheating, everyone knows he's cheating, but like the emperor's new clothes, we're waiting for some little kid to shout out 'but that's a man'

Don’t know if it’s been pointed out as haven’t read the full thread but it seems there was no podium protest if you’re referring to the pic of LT standing alone and 3 other swimmers standing together and totally apart from LT. also read that 2 of those 3 young women fully support LT and have stated do publicly

And don’t you think the fact that those women are reliant on scholarships/sponsorship to attend college might have something to do with it?

It’s noticeable that the most vocal critics in the sporting community are ex-athletes, those with nothing to lose.

What do you think will happen to them if they don't?

Why are you keen for male bodied people to take sporting opportunities from female bodied people? What do you think the differences are between male and female bodies, and why do you think a man with artificially low testosterone is a woman....and a woman, therefore, is a man with artificially low testosterone?

The third young woman is the swimmer who came fourth. Fourth placed athletes don’t usually stand on the winning podium, I think it is highly likely that the three female athletes were making a not so subtle point that they were the first three women to finish in the race.

Incidentally, one of them has in the past made quite positive comments about Lia, I have the feeling that she might now have realised what Lias inclusion in the sport means for female swimmers, especially for the ones who come fourth.

arethereanyleftatall · 24/03/2022 21:19

I've noticed that too @CaveMum
I've been scouring Twitter for a current male athlete to have stepped forward and said something, but can't find anything.

DrSbaitso · 24/03/2022 21:55

James Ellington and Daley Thompson.

I've just taken up karate. I've decided I identify as a 7 year old boy, so...

Actually, they would still probably beat me.

Well, have I misunderstood? Can you clarify by answering?

…are desperate to be asked to join the school's invitation only LGBTQIA+ Club as an ally

What fuckery is this? An exclusive club where presumably you have to toe the line on ideology and keep doing so in order to maintain your membership of “the cool club” and where presumably being ejected will cause social embarrassment or worse? I mean, that doesn’t use the peddling of ideology to prey on kid’s needs to be in the “right tribe” at a vulnerable age at all, does it?

And I’m sure it’s an absolute hotbed of free debate on a wide variety of dissenting views Hmm

Helleofabore · 25/03/2022 07:19

Have they released statements since the event? To clarify that the photo was not a protest then?

Because I have not seen those new statements.

And a whole lot of good sentiment can disappear with the missing of a podium finish you expected.

If I have missed their renewed support, I would like to see it. Otherwise, they have had ample time to reconfirm and to denounce the ‘protest’. If they haven’t, that is also noteworthy.

Just heard Sharron Davies on GB news yesterday- fantastic! Nailed all her points - biology/politics/big pharma/sex based protection/women's sports and that athletes and coaches etc are not allowed to speak out.

Stay brave Sharron

This is now affecting me personally. My training this week has been despondent. I've been training daily for the European Masters Champs which will be in Rome in August. I train hard and have done for forty years. I'm hoping to medal. I would not have a chance against even a mediocre male club swimmer. I would be devastated if a transgender athlete is in my race. Today In the pool I had my fins on for one set. A guy asked how much quicker did they make me, and I responded 'about 10%'. I'm a size 3. We measured my fin against his foot. Same. I Almost cried there and then.
