When roll ons and sticks are more effective, more economical (all the product goes where it is meant to rather than half of it going into the air around you) less polluting and less irritating to the lungs? Seems like a no brainer to me.

Whatever people do in the privacy of their own homes, they can knock themselves out.

But please don't use them in the work loos or other public toilets. They can trigger asthma and allergic reactions in other people.

We had to actually ban them in one workplace once, as polite requests to Please Try To Avoid Killing Your Colleagues were ignored.

LadyinRead · 16/03/2022 16:14

@AchillesPoirot Apologies I didn't see your earlier post. You wouldn't scratch yourself with Salt of the Earth, it's a really smooth hard texture on the surface.

AchillesPoirot · 16/03/2022 16:14

I work from home.

I have social anxiety (diagnosed) and rarely go out.

I’m not using them outside the home.

It’s That the sensation in my armpits makes me want to claw myself to shreds.

ThinWomansBrain · 16/03/2022 16:16

the other bits eg under boobs etc.

The oher bits? can't say I use deodorant other than armpits
I do have all three on the go - spay, solid & roll on -(all Mitchum) - can't say that I have a real preference. If it's hot, spray can be refreshing, but best avoided if my cat is anywhere near.

LadyinRead · 16/03/2022 16:16

JassyRadlett We have a man in our office who insists on lifting his shirt and spraying Lynx or something equally repulsive before he leaves every night. He does this right at his desk! Then he trots off leaving the fug for everyone else to breathe.

GreMay1 · 16/03/2022 16:17

I think it depends how sweaty you get. I use a spray and it has to be Sure or Dove as the others don't really work.

A spray is better you can spray after work. I don't fancy rolling under my armpit after I have finished work with a stick!

They can trigger false fire alarms if the mist gets near smoke detectors as well.

It’s That the sensation in my armpits makes me want to claw myself to shreds. I'm sorry for misunderstanding. Perhaps the sprays should only be available on prescription then.

Thoosa · 16/03/2022 16:19

Why do you struggle with other people having different preferences and priorities?

Is this a new genres of thread?

“Why do you drink coffee?”

“Why do you drive an estate car?”

“Why aren’t you vegan?”

Confused
AllTheWeetabix · 16/03/2022 16:20

Because I like them. So yeah that’s that.

Roses1221 · 16/03/2022 16:21

Used to use sprays as roll ons were what my mum used so I deemed it old fashioned Grin switched to roll on when we had a newborn in the room nearly 5 years ago and have never looked back!

AchillesPoirot · 16/03/2022 16:21

@CounsellorTroi can you please suggest what I should do - I can’t use rolls on or stick. I’ve tried. Numerous times in my life.

CounsellorTroi · 16/03/2022 16:22

Why do you struggle with other people having different preferences and priorities?

This thread was inspired in part by the one where the OP complained about being gassed by her DH’s deodorant spray. Lots of people suggested he used a roll on or stick instead.

@LadyinRead

I agree completely OP! Spray deodorants should be banned, especially in gym changing rooms.Keep your fumes and repulsive scents to yourself, thank you very much!

Salt of the Earth stick is excellent and has no aroma whatsoever.

An ex used that, the only aroma was BO.

Fair enough if you really can’t.

Showering everyday is an environmental disaster - all of the wasted drinking water, power to clean it and move it and then energy to heat it. Better to shower every other day and have a quick blast with the deodorant can - much better for the world.

Ntrd · 16/03/2022 16:27

I hate roll ons, the stickiness and I don't think they work as well as sprays for me, and the natural roll ons I've tried always leave me with a rash. I just much prefer a spray.

AchillesPoirot · 16/03/2022 16:27

Thank you. 🙄

Why are you judging me for something so small? I don’t live with anyone except my DDs and I put my deodorant on in my bedroom once a day with the door closed. My bedroom window is always cracked open. I don’t over spray. The anti perspirant I use is unscented (coz I have issues with strong smells).

I don’t understand why anyone would judge me for that.

Thoosa · 16/03/2022 16:28

How are we supposed to intuit that from the title and OP?

Maybe most people manage not to gas each other with any kind of spray?

AchillesPoirot · 16/03/2022 16:29

So this is a TAAT?

Hm2020 · 16/03/2022 16:29

Because they want to

BeHappy91818 · 16/03/2022 16:30

Why do you actually care what people use Confused

Some people are so strange.

Just because something works for you doesn’t mean it will for others 👍🏻

TheSpottedZebra · 16/03/2022 16:30

I strongly suspect I'm not the ex in question but I tried it too and not only stank but was horribly damp.

Some people don't sweat, or their sweat doesn't pong. They can happily use pitrok, salt sticks etc and they'll be fine.

Others know they cannot, as THEY DO sweat. I am in this group. I use spray as roll on stays sticky.

Another group think they are in Group 1. But alas, they are not.

CheshireChat · 16/03/2022 16:30

You want a dr to prescribe deodorants?! I can hardly get hold of the medicine I've been prescribed
