When roll ons and sticks are more effective, more economical (all the product goes where it is meant to rather than half of it going into the air around you) less polluting and less irritating to the lungs? Seems like a no brainer to me.

When you say less polluting - what do you mean?

Roll-ons and sticks are in hard plastic cases. Those plastic cases should be recycled, but that doesn't mean they will be.

I meant less polluting of the air in your home.

Pitrok is where its at, I can't remember how long ago I bought it. Kerching 💰💰💰

MrsPerfect12 · 16/03/2022 14:55

I use both, am I alone in this? Roll on for pits and spray for the other bits eg under boobs etc.

DetailMouse · 16/03/2022 14:55

I wonder if those complaining that roll ons take too long to dry have used one recently. As a teen, that was certainly true, but modern ones dry instantly.

Brideandprejudice · 16/03/2022 14:59

@CounsellorTroi

Roll ons and sticks work fine for me, and I like the fact the smell is more subtle. I put mine on straight after washing/showering and it’s dry by the time I’ve finished applying body lotion, cleaned my teeth and moisturised my face.
That's a long time.
SartresSoul · 16/03/2022 15:01

DH says roll on doesn’t work for him at all so he’s always used spray. He is a stinky hairy man so needs quite a lot of spray otherwise he reeks after a day at work. I use roll on with no issues but I’m not naturally smelly.

refreshingseahorse · 16/03/2022 15:01

I buy a spray as a treat sometimes, it feels too extravagant for everyday.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 16/03/2022 15:02

I don't use body lotion or moisturisers. Can't see the point. Waste of money, extra plastic into landfil, waste of time.

See.

People have different preferences.

CounsellorTroi · 16/03/2022 15:02

But it’s not time I would have been using to do anything else. I don’t dress before I put body lotion on or clean my teeth.

I find roll ons sticky and sticks leave a layer that ends up on my clothes. Judging by the wide range of spray ones compared to roll ons in my local supermarket I’m not alone. I’ve also never failed to spray in the correct location - fairly easy to aim.

Well, you crack on with using a roll-on, then. It doesn't mean everyone else has to.

If your issue is an environmental one, I'll happily pop round to your house and point out all things you do every day that have an environmental impact and judge you for your choices.

elbea · 16/03/2022 15:04

@WhereYouLeftIt it’s not to do with the plastic, spray deodorant contains VOCs which contribute to pollution. Aerosols (including things like deodorant) have a larger impact on pollution than cars.

I don’t like the feel of roll inside or sticks.

I’m (most likely) autistic and I have issues with the feeling of things on my skin.

burnthur5t · 16/03/2022 15:05

Because they want to

Fernandina · 16/03/2022 15:06

I find the roll-on ones in particular are sticky and horrible, and don't dry properly. You can't use them on your feet very easily, either!

AchillesPoirot · 16/03/2022 15:08

How much deodorant are people spraying that it pollutes the air in their house?

steff13 · 16/03/2022 15:09

I use Lume, which is a stick. I've never thought about what other people use.

Mummyoply · 16/03/2022 15:10

I use Pit Putty it's been a revelation!

Not everybody uses body lotion, cleans their teeth before getting dressed, or moisturises their face in the morning. You have a lot of time fillers while waiting for it to-dry, others don’t

Not on me, they don’t
AnnaDelvorkina · 16/03/2022 15:16

You can apply spray-on without having washed your armpit immediately before.
You can apply spray-on more easily if wearing clothes (e.g. at work pop to toilet and spray on quickly).
You can spray spray-on into smelly shoes for a quick fix.
You can share spray-on.
Some people believe that spray-on penetrates the skin less therefore lower risk of cancer.

I hate spray-on deodorant.

deadlanguage · 16/03/2022 15:22

Yanbu to wonder op, I’ve never bought spray deodorant and had pretty much forgotten it was a thing that exists for women until this thread. I remember PE changing rooms as a teen stinking of the stuff now - why do they have such an awful sickly scent? DP uses lynx and I make him leave the room as it makes you cough.

I don’t wear deodorant every day but when I do it’s either the Superdrug sensitive roll on or the lush block and neither of them take time to dry, are sticky, or make white marks on clothes. No idea what people are doing to make deodorant sticky!

TheChronicalTales · 16/03/2022 15:28

Because I share mine with DP.

drawingpad · 16/03/2022 15:28

I use a Mitchum stick now but prior to finding that I used a spray because I couldn't tolerate the sticky feeling of a roll on. I am autistic and having wet sticky skin is a sensory nightmare.
