I have ploughman’s sandwich, steak McCoys and a sprite (Tesco)

This thread inspired me to try something other than my standard Tesco Honey mustard chicken pasta salad.

I looked at the duck hoisin wrap, but it seemed like it might've been a bit dry - can anyone confirm that it's not ? I then settled on a Ham and Eggs Benedict sandwich mainly because it was a special. It was quite nice.

rookiemere · 14/03/2022 17:31

Tandoori Nan sounds good

cato75 · 14/03/2022 17:35

Prawn mayo or chicken and stuffing sandwich, walkers ready salted and Pepsi max or an iced coffee.

HoundOfTheBasketballs · 14/03/2022 17:36

Chicken and stuffing sandwich, beef monster munch, Pepsi max cherry. Absolute filth. Grin

Fernsinthegarden · 14/03/2022 17:37

Tesco used to do a red pesto chicken sandwich that was excellent, I might have to check it out next time!

TheSoapyFrog · 14/03/2022 17:37

I'll try and get the most expensive stuff - smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich or something in a baguette. Salt and vinegar kettle chips. Probably a smoothie or a fancy juice.

iklboo · 14/03/2022 17:43

Tuna crunch sandwich
Salt & vinegar crisps
Raspberry lemonade

SpaghettiNotCourgetti · 14/03/2022 18:44

I used to work at Boots and my meal deals (with staff discount!) were usually a southern fried chicken wrap, a sharing bag of chocolate (giant buttons!), and a bottle of Coke.

I worked ten hour shifts on my feet and never even thought about calories. Sadly, my current sedentary job wouldn't let me do that now!

Last Tesco meal deal I had was the free range egg sandwich (with the egg slices, not egg mayo), a bag of crisps and a bottle of water. But I'll always dream of the old days at Boots.

God that’s a public service announcement right there. Thank you for sharing, now I’m really fancying one!

thenightsky · 14/03/2022 20:18

@mongoosebaby

Am I the only tight arse who chooses the 3 most expensive things they have that day??
I'm with you.
Grasping · 14/03/2022 20:24

@Badnightguaranteed

love this thread. Only on Mumsnet does a meal deal last two days Grin
Only on Mumsnet would other posters be bothered by this 😂

How about I crack on with what I do and you do what you like eh?

thenightsky · 14/03/2022 20:27

@rookiemere

Cheese savoury sandwiches are £1.50 in Tesco, so you might be better skipping the meal deal, same for egg mayo or plain ham or tuna.
Yes! I caught onto that when I was going through my egg mayo phase.
pawpaws2022 · 14/03/2022 21:30

Cheese savoury is great with ready salted crisps in it

I'm off to the office on Wednesday so meal deal it is Grin

VeryMuchFlaggingMinty · 14/03/2022 21:34

DD...hoisin duck wrap, paprika crinkles, Innocent Bolt from the Blue smoothie

Me...varies Egg or prawn mayo, or breakfast triple if I'm having a pig out, Walkers Smoky Bacon and an iced latte

Treaclepie19 · 14/03/2022 22:04

Me too. My nearest supermarket though doesn't do meal deals.

I have no fixed favourite but my most recent one was a good old fashioned ham and mustard sandwich on wholemeal bread , salt and vinegar crisps and a bottle of water from M&S.

Delicious.

shumway · 15/03/2022 14:44

Inspired by this thread I branched out and had egg and cress sandwich from waitrose today. Might try cheese and onion sandwich from co-op tomorrow.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 15/03/2022 14:49

I nipped to Aldi today got myself a "meal deal" (they don't do them) of egg and cress sandwich, diet coke and a packet of crisps.

BGDino · 16/03/2022 10:24

Aussie here living vicariously through this thread, loved the meal deals whenever I visited the UK. My hypothetical (haven’t been since 2014 so no idea who offers what now) would be something involving egg and or bacon, Real McCoys cheese and onion if you can get them and the most expensive drink on offer.

I went for cheese and onion today! It was good Bag of s&v mccoys and a bottle of Pepsi max
Winday · 16/03/2022 12:16

Tesco: Cheese and onion sandwich, bottle of water, McCoys Crisps.

BarbaraofSeville · 16/03/2022 13:05

Agree that the Tesco tandoori naan looks really good, I'll look out for one of those next time I need lunch and I'm near a Tesco.
I've just bought a Boots one as it happens as I'm about to get on a train.

I got the vegetarian triple which is two different cheese sandwiches and an egg mayo one, a posh collective mango coconut yogurt and an innocent smoothie so I did well for value I think although it did cost £4.19 but that's train station prices for you.

ReeseWitherfork · 19/03/2022 22:20

Not worked in an office since covid and didn't realise how much I missed a meal deal until now!! Going to have to drive to the supermarket next week. Can't believe I've been making sandwiches myself like some sort of lunatic.

Quite like a meal deal pasta salad over a sandwich personally. We've got a Morrisons close, sounds like I need to check out their salad bar.

pinksquash13 · 19/03/2022 23:03

Greg's- Mexican chicken roll, cheese and onion Crisps, Raspberry lemonade

M&s - ham and smoked mustard sandwich, salt and vinegar chipsticks, rhubarb drink in a can. Forget it's name.
