I have ploughman’s sandwich, steak McCoys and a sprite (Tesco)

OP posts:
narcdad · 14/03/2022 09:39

Triple sandwich, paprika McCoy's & coke, usually once a week

PrescriptionWine · 14/03/2022 09:42

Morrison’s - medium salad, samosa or chicken on a stick and a Pepsi Max. Haven’t had one in ages due to WFH!

pinkprettyroses · 14/03/2022 09:44

Tesco

Falafel and hummus wrap, eat natural bar, and either a Diet Coke or naked green machine.

Morrisons

Salad bar, yoghurt pot/watermelon, Diet Coke or green machine.

HashtagShitShop · 14/03/2022 09:48

Sainsbury's chicken and stuffing sandwich, blue doritos (or orange/purple nik naks) and a Pepsi max cherry (used to be a monster zero but off all energy drinks now). At Christmas it's the clementine juice in place of the Pepsi.

Now on the keto diet so living vicariously through you all with that there bread and crisps 🤤🤤

SexyLittleNosferatu · 14/03/2022 09:51

Do you think there will ever come a day on mumsnet where we can simply talk about food and nobody feels the need to mention calories? Dreaming, aren't I.

Anyway, I have Morrisons fat salad, Quavers and a cappuccino. 🤌

DorothyBinns · 14/03/2022 09:51

Some days:

Salmon and tuna sushi
Chopped mango or pineapple
Orange juice which I give to DS - I have water from the work cooler

Other days:

Triple sandwich (BLT, prawn mayo, chicken salad)
Walkers paprika Max crisps
Diet cherry coke

The second one is terrible but sometimes circumstances (PMT) demand it...

BoredZelda · 14/03/2022 09:57

DD does, she says it’s the norm where she works but it seems pretty calorific to have every day (luckily she can eat what she wants and not gain an ounce). I’d gain a few lbs a week if I ate one per day

I don’t work near a supermarket so rarely get a meal deal but on occasion of out at site I have to go to a supermarket to grab a lunch. When I started weight watchers I was really surprised in the points value in a supermarket sandwich v sandwiches from home. The lowest point value one I found was a tuna mayo which was 9 points. But most were about 14 or 15. Add a fruit juice and crisps on to that and it can be nearly all of my daily allowance. But, as with everything you eat it’s not just about one meal, but the whole week and also about how active you are.

shumway · 14/03/2022 10:13

Chicken and bacon caesar wrap, hula hoops or mccoys, 7up.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 14/03/2022 10:57

Meal deals don't have to be calorific. A wholemeal sandwich with tuna&mayo or chicken and salad is a perfectly acceptable amount of calories. Add either a snack pot of carrot batons and hummus or the hard boiled egg, and a zero calorie soft drink/sparkling water etc.

lampygirl · 14/03/2022 11:10

I mix it up a bit as they are equidistant from work. I try to bring in soup etc most days then the meal deal treat on Fat Fridays, so I do not care much for the calorific content or general lack of nutrients for one lunch a week...

Tescos: Cheese and ham sub, Salt and Vinegar McCoys (put in sub to pazazz it a bit), pepsi max.

M&S: Not strictly a meal deal but chicken and bacon layer salad, plain crisps and the orangey fizzy water.

Both then get the (up to) £1 chocolate item treatment that I 100% don't need but does brighten up mid afternoon.

MrsLegend · 14/03/2022 11:17

Duck wrap or BLT or smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich

McCoys salt and vinegar crisps

Iced coffee

SartresSoul · 14/03/2022 11:23

Falafel and hummus wrap, veg sushi and Diet Coke.

HermioneKipper · 14/03/2022 11:24

Tesco - falafel wrap, baked cheese and onion walkers, iced coffee

This thread is making me wish I live/work near a Morrisons! Their salad bar sounds amazing!

FoxyFoxyLoxy · 14/03/2022 11:35

I felt very hard done by this weekend when I needed to grab a quick lunch from M&S and realised they don't do a meal deal.

Sacrilege.

@FrasierCraneDay

pissed myself laughing at your comment Grin Grin Grin

Fairislefandango · 14/03/2022 12:17

It always amuses me when people talk about calories as though they are the enemy - like some kind of extra, evil ingredient that meanies have put into our food to make us fat. Calories are the main purpose of eating. If you don't eat plenty of calories at meal times, you're probably either very hungry and miserable, or in denial about your in-between-meal snacking habits. Or about to fall off the diet waggon if you haven't already.

Honestly!

Love this thread as I love a meal deal😂 but what's the need to bring up calories when it comes to eating a meal deal as if we're eating a 10 piece share box from KFC by ourselves?! The whole point of eating is to consume calories so it's not like we're killing ourselves by eating one!

PrincessNutella · 14/03/2022 13:11

What is a steak McCoy?

JayAlfredPrufrock · 14/03/2022 13:16

Had a Morrison’s salad bar once. Lovely long hair in it. 🤮

PurpleDaisies · 14/03/2022 13:16

@PrincessNutella

What is a steak McCoy?

frenchfancy81 · 14/03/2022 13:18

Cheese and onion sandwich
Grape and apple pack (for my son!)
Coke Zero

DaisyRain432 · 14/03/2022 13:26

I hate talk of calories aswell and counting them isn't sustainable long term, who's got the time! I might stuff my face one day and try to be healthier for a couple of days after and my BMI is spot on! Just saying

Butteryflakycrust83 · 14/03/2022 13:27

finally! my people.

Tesco is superior for all meal deals.

The chicken tikka with onion bhaji wrap, Jimmys Iced Mocha, popchips salty lentil crisps.

BlackandJello · 14/03/2022 13:34

Tesco

Chicken caeser wrap. Walkers cheese and onion baked crisps.

I change the drink depending on what I fancy but it's usually something orangey, tropicana maybe.

runsmidgeOMG · 14/03/2022 13:38

Egg and cress sandwich. Walkers cheese and onion crisps to put in the sandwich and Diet Coke ! Divine !
