I have ploughman’s sandwich, steak McCoys and a sprite (Tesco)

Love this as lots of people I work with treat themselves to one now when in the office once a week. Everyone happy as bored of home food. I am.trying to be good. If I do have one it's always chicken and stuffing or at Christmas the Christmas turkey sandwich. I have plain crisps and a diet coke. As someone said you might as well go for expensive sandwich.

Fizbosshoes · 14/03/2022 06:46

Tesco meal deal has even gone up to £3.50! It's been £3 since I was in school. That's how I know life is ending🤣

Haha yes, I couldn't believe we got to page 6 without someone mentioning they are £3.50 (although still £3 if you have a club card I think)

rookiemere · 14/03/2022 06:46

Tescos Chicken and honey mustard pasta salad, chicken satay sticks/pineapple or squares if they have them and fizzy water or a fanta for DS.

collieresponder88 · 14/03/2022 06:54

Morrison's medium salad from salad bar. Scotch egg. Innocent green machine. They don't really advertise the salad bar being part of the meal deal but it is and really nice

WinterRose92 · 14/03/2022 07:05

Tuna and cumcumber sandwich, walkers ready salted crisps and water or coke depending on how I’m feeling.

Simonjt · 14/03/2022 07:11

Falafel wrap, popcorn and a smoothie, I can’t actually drink the smoothies, but I feel cheated getting a cheaper drink, so I’ll have water from my bottle and give the smoothie to my husband or son.

Bookaholic73 · 14/03/2022 07:15

I can’t believe there are people who are saying that the meal deal lasts them 2 lunches Confused

Mine is the chicken & bacon sandwich, Diet Coke and chocolate brownie from Morrisons.

PinkTonic · 14/03/2022 07:28
@Plumbmonster seriously? A sandwich / crisp / drink!??
A M&S chicken and stuffing sandwich is 490 calories, a chicken, bacon and salad one is 680. An average packet of crisps is 130 + so yes a bought sandwich/crisp/drink is a very high calorie daily lunch option for anyone.

I would only do it occasionally because it’s too calorific, plus I struggle with bought sandwiches containing too much mayonnaise or even multiple condiments anyway. M&S chicken and stuffing is my go to, and ready salted crisps. Water as I don’t like fizzy drinks.

This is MN, competitive undereating is an olympic sport, I’m sure a lot of them would fit in well on pro-ana sites.
Fairislefandango · 14/03/2022 08:21

I wouldn't think of it as a treat tbh. My homemade lunch is always nicer than a pre-packaged sandwich. I suppose it's a treat in the sense of treating yourself to avoiding the effort of making your own. A freshly made sandwich in a nice café I'd consider a treat, but not a supermarket ready-made sandwich.

PurpleDaisies · 14/03/2022 08:29

Vegetarian sushi
Small pack of crisps
Diet Coke

There is no way that a standard pack of sandwiches or a wrap does more than one lunch.

Exactly. I'm sure a lot of threads involving food, weight or the size of models are a magnet for all the people with ED on here. As a former anorexic , Im sure I could have wasted hours reading the "what have you eaten today" threads if they'd been around 25 years ago. I don't look at them now as I worry I would start comparing my self (unfavourably) to other people.

You've chosen 2 very high calories sandwiches though. There are plenty around 300-400 in most meal deals I have seen. Although I often have a sandwich and kitkat which is approx 250 kcal

I’m the one saying it does me 2 lunches @Simonjt & @PurpleDaisies. It’s certainly not competitive under eating but I wouldn’t be eating a packet of crisps every day.

Sometimes it’s breakfast and lunch.
It depends what you buy.

PurpleDaisies · 14/03/2022 09:12

You wouldn’t be able to make a single meal deal do two lunches without adding other stuff though, @grasping? If I’ve understood, you’re saying that you’d have the sandwiches one day and the crisps the next. Unless you’re just having crisps for lunch, that’s a bit different to what you seemed to be implying earlier.

Grasping · 14/03/2022 09:20

I don’t have crisps.

I have a wrap, innocent (berry protein or invigorate) and either an eat natural bar or small pack of sushi.

So the wrap for lunch one day then the smoothie and bar/sushi the next for either breakfast or lunch.

Grasping · 14/03/2022 09:21

……. or half the wrap and the bar/sushi one lunch and the other half and the smoothie the next.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 14/03/2022 09:24

Some people don't eat breakfast. So a full meal deal at lunch is perfectly suitable. With all its "many" calories.

BigMamaFratelli · 14/03/2022 09:26

Wensleydale and carrot chutney sandwich
Prawn cocktail crisps
Diet coke/lemon and lime water depending on my mood - M and S

I don't really eat bread so this is a once every so often treat

PurpleDaisies · 14/03/2022 09:26

A eat natural bar is a tiny lunch. So is a small pack of sushi is about 100cals.

Yes. It depends what else you’re eating and doing throughout the day.
BigMamaFratelli · 14/03/2022 09:27

Oh, and I don't normally have breakfast either so don't worry about the calories

TildaRae · 14/03/2022 09:28

I remember back in the day when my kids were toddlers, I used to work weekends in retail, money was tight but every Saturday I’d make sure I had £2.89 for a boots meal deal! All day breakfast sandwich, coke and a strawberry shapers bar. Amazing!

If I go now it’s the coop, hoisin duck wrap, chicken satay side and a Pepsi max.

Grasping · 14/03/2022 09:29

I’m hungry now 😂

Ostagazuzulum · 14/03/2022 09:31

Tesco roast veg pesto wrap (amazing) or asda salad cream and tomato sandwich, pot of pineapple and bottle of water.

TangledNemo · 14/03/2022 09:33

Tesco sandwiches are rubbish so I never buy them anymore. I actually got a meal deal on Saturday from Sainsbury’s for the first time in ages, and I got a chicken and bacon sandwich, a fruit box of apple, strawberries and grapes, and an innocent smoothie. The sandwich is usually always the same, but the drink and dessert is usually different.
