To keep my socks on during a smear?

I always keep mine on! It wouldn't even occur to me to take them off!

I wear thigh high ones for a smear. No reason to be totally naked from waist down.

I wouldn't take my socks off, no. They're looking at your fanny, not your feet.

My view is that when we have a smear we're lying half-dressed, legs akimbo, on a weird little narrow padded bench thing, partially draped with paper towels, while a stranger pokes things up the business end. Socks are not going to make this seem any ridiculous than it already does.

Keep them on. Why would the nurse want to look at or be near manky feet with fungal knarled toenails, athletes foot or sock fluff (even one would be awful). Plus most ppl put their feet on the floor before putting on shoes after getting of the couch. Just think how many sweaty, verruca encrusted feet would have been there before yours.

I wear socks at all times, aside from when I'm in the shower. Bare feet freak me out so this isn't even a question for me

A friend making small talk with the nurse doing her smear got the response “I’m not a chiropodist dear, you do what you feel comfortable with” 🤣

I kept my specs on and they managed to work round them.

It's an ideal time for novelty socks IMO.

I mean...I wear tights and skirt normally...so taking them off is fairly compulsory.

If i do happen to be wearing trousers and socks...they stay on...if they're matching. If not they come off, and tucked under my trousers with knickers, as if they have never seen a pair of socks or underwear before....

I usually keep socks on but last time I went for a smear I foolishly wore a jumpsuit and somehow just the bra felt slightly less ridiculous than bra and socks.

Isn't it funny how we hide our underwear under our other clothes..

I’m not sure why but this has really tickled me, what a conundrum fwiw I kept mine on a few weeks ago while they poked around in there!

How disgusting are your feet that this is your reference point.

Just don't do what I did at the beauticians. Took my knickers off for a wax I think I must have been in smear mode. I'd been there many many times and am fully aware that you move them to the side . I realised what I had done straight away and hurriedly covered myself whilst apologising. She did say that some women did prefer to do that. I don't know if it's true but I was mortified.
