Sharing bed sheets, is it me?

Ok I really don't know if I am being weird here, but I have my sheets on my bed that I share with my husband and my daughter has hers that she shares with her boyfriend.
I bought myself some new bedding last week, I have used it once, washed it etc and now she has put it on her bed!
I don't know why but it makes me uneasy, obviously its washed between uses etc, I can't verbalise it but if makes me uncomfortable.

I’d be annoyed that she had stolen my new bedding! But I don’t think I’d have the ick factor. Tell her that she’s bloody rude and if she wants some new bedding to buy some herself!

3001signon · 06/03/2022 19:11

Because it’s yours and, apart from the fact parents rarely have something ‘just for them’ because our kids want everything, you don’t want to be having sex on the sheets that DD may have had sex with her boyfriend on. I totally get it.

It’s not the same as sleeping on hotel sheets before anyone mentions that.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 06/03/2022 19:14

Like Bimbly I'd be miffed my new bedding has been pinched. I don't find it odd to use sheets on different beds. I have 3 full sets of single bedding in the airing cupboard that is spare & simply there for shoving on if one of the dc is ill or has an accident in the night, so it's been used on all their beds more than once over the years.

starfishmummy · 06/03/2022 19:15

You'll need to burn them now.

little0miss0mac · 06/03/2022 19:16

Bit harsh, poor kids
Squirrelblanket · 06/03/2022 19:18

I think you should call the police to report it and then burn the whole house down.

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/03/2022 19:19

Cheeky mare, yes.

Ick, no.

nadgersbadgers · 06/03/2022 19:20

To make you feel better I slept for ages and fucked my boyfriend in some bedding that was in fact one of his wedding presents to his ex wife before me.

It was the bedding on my bed when I came home from hospital with our baby.

Fuck I lost my mind when I found out where it was from.

inheritancetrack · 06/03/2022 19:21

would definitely give me an icky feeling

CoffeeBeansGalore · 06/03/2022 19:21

Tell her you bought it for your bed, a treat for you, not for her. So please remove from her bed.
Cheeky mare!

Ffsmakeitstop · 06/03/2022 19:31

I can't get passed you used it once then washed it Hmm

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 06/03/2022 19:32

We all have our own stuff that isn't shared. Ds18 has a double bed and his own stuff. Dc have single beds...

Sparklingbrook · 06/03/2022 19:34

Is it very expensive high thread count or something? If so I would want to keep it for myself.
If just normal sheets then it wouldn't bother me, unless the ones I had to use were full of holes or something.

TossieFleacake · 06/03/2022 19:37

I totally get it OP.
I feel the same about bedding, we each have our own sets and I wouldn't dream of putting my set on any other bed.
Don't care that it gets washed inbetween, I am firmly in the 'bedding should not be shared' camp.

Batshitkerazy · 06/03/2022 19:41

I don’t think she means used it literally one night, probably used it ‘once’ means one rotation cycle of being on the bed
Whetheryouthinkyoucan · 06/03/2022 19:44

I’d be annoyed because it was mine, but wouldn’t give a monkeys about it in terms of being uncomfortable. It’s been washed. I trust my washing machine and powder.

mrsm43s · 06/03/2022 19:46

I wouldn't have an ick factor, but we all have our own bedding, and I'd be pissed off if someone else used my bedding. Just because its mine, really.

Tee20x · 06/03/2022 19:49

I also hate when people use my bedding. Not sure why as with towels once washed they're fair game. But my bedsheets are mine!!!

LittleGwyneth · 06/03/2022 19:49

I imagine if you say 'Darling I'd rather you didn't use my bedding - I shag your father on that' she would probably stop doing so.

MakeMineALarge1 · 06/03/2022 19:50

@Ffsmakeitstop once as in one cycle, could be a week or 3, not a literal once.

What do you do when you have guests over? Do you ‘happily share’ your bedding then?
CombatBarbie · 06/03/2022 19:50

All beds have their own bedding in our house, however that's mainly to do with colour schemes in each room.

I get the uneasy feeling (but not full on ick) although I think another poster explained it well.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sparklingbrook · 06/03/2022 19:58

How does anyone cope in a hotel? Take your own sheets?
At least OP knows who has slept on the sheets at home.

cheninblanc · 06/03/2022 19:59

I'd be the same tbh
