Waitrose

Just tried the 'new offers' on Waitrose. You have download the offers at home but then scan to scan a QR code at the til point and click into a coupon for every offer. Surely they could put the offers directly into your Waitrose Card like M&S Sparks Card does?
Given John Lewis is on a downward track - surely making shopping difficult at Waitrose won't help keep customers. Anybody else found this as unnecessarily complicated?

Yes why can't they roll over

FayeGovan · 20/07/2022 21:34

I'm unsure but don't you have a week to redeem them before they're invalid? If you've got a store nearby you could spend them there on two items. 🌹

BrightYellowDaffodil · 20/07/2022 21:47

My vouchers are back but the discounts aren’t what they were. Why do they give things then take them away and expect us all not to mind?

MrsMAgain · 21/07/2022 11:36

My better vouchers are thankfully back but I didn't get an email to tell me this time. I found them in my account. With the newspaper and 2 best vouchers - ignoring the silly 50p ones! - I can save £10 this week, which is still £7 if you take off the dreaded delivery fee.

I just wish they would bring back all the good quality and better value Essentials and Waitrose own labels as some seem to have disappeared online at least, like lemonade, tonic water and nappy sacks. In fact they haven't been able to send any nappy sacks at all for weeks.

BooseysMom · 22/07/2022 11:50

The only vouchers this week were the 50p ones so a big whooo for that!!

longwayoff · 22/07/2022 13:05

I only use waitrose online. I add the 2 most valuable vouchers at checkout whether or not I've bought the relevant items. Always successful so far.

Murdoch1949 · 23/07/2022 20:26

I shop online and I now am au fait with the vouchers. The system is too complex, I'm sure a lot of people will miss out. They are available from Wednesday. I get, say, £2.50 off Clarence Court eggs, or £2.50 off No 1 braising beef, always linked to what I buy, usually 4/5 options. I also get the Saturday Guardian free (god knows why Waitrose said they were stopping free papers, THEY HAVEN'T). The annoying thing is that after selecting your vouchers, you have to do a full (not instant) checkout, and add the vouchers there too. I suspect some customers will assume that have previously selected the vouchers they will think it's done. There was a message this week saying they were introducing exciting voucher changes, but haven't noticed anything yet.

Newestname002 · 08/09/2022 20:37

Looks like the Waitrose vouchers have now been reduced from three to two vouchers each week. First I realised this was not a glitch after trying to select three vouchers last week was today - when I tried to choose three vouchers for my online shop and Customer Services confirmed the reduction.

FayeGovan · 08/09/2022 21:05

I had the choice of 5 or 6 vouchers as usual this week

You never could select three. You get six to choose from, and select two. Or at least that's how it's always been for me. But I only shop in the store. Is it different if you shop online?

Crikeyalmighty · 08/09/2022 23:44

The great thing for me is I keep getting huge £10 pieces of salmon fillet for £5 and the packs of sea bass that are normally £5.50 for £3 or so

I'm finding it damn handy!!

BarbaraofSeville · 09/09/2022 04:01

I've only had 2 vouchers the last couple of times I've looked but I haven't shopped there for a while as I've only ever been occasionally anyway.

vjg13 · 09/09/2022 07:12

My vouchers have decreased in value despite shopping there fairly frequently.

Sparklingbrook · 09/09/2022 07:15

I am consistently getting a voucher for £3 off the cat food I buy every week, so I hope that carries on.

Yep. Back to 50p off all the things in my list. No incentive at all to go there now, as anything else I buy will be more expensive than at my local Tesco, making the founders pointless.

The only vouchers that took me there very regularly were the ones that gave me £8 off a £40 shop. They dried up long ago.

BarbaraofSeville · 09/09/2022 10:52

I'm getting a £2 voucher off ready made paella (Waitrose number 1 or Charlie Bighams, I buy both) and then 50 p off own brand crisps, white vinegar or microwave rice. That seems to be standard for me for the last 2/3 weeks.

BooseysMom · 09/09/2022 12:54

Yes it's annoying they've stopped those. Now all I get is £18 of a £120 shop which just encourages you to spend more than you usually do. I just bin them and use the weekly ones online which seem to have increased lately from 50p ones to £1 or £1.50 or £2.

To the pp who mentioned about there being 3 vouchers you could choose, I thought the same, that you could choose 3 but maybe that was in my imagination and there has only ever been 2!

Sparks offers seem to have dried up

We're continuing to save a fair amount on our shopping using the vouchers/coupons. Waitrose is our closest supermarket and we do the bulk of our shopping there (spend £200+/wk). This is what we do:

  • All three of use over 18+ in the house have a mywaitrose card and have registered for quick check (use the handset when shopping) - I do most of the shopping but DH and DS shop there about once a week for smaller shops too.
  • We all get the coupons and always chose the two of highest value - DH and DS (we pay for the shopping he does by paying him back when he gets home) screenshot theirs and send them to me. Between us that adds up to £15-£20/week. I then use all six at the same time (if you're using quickcheck the coupons work whether you buy the actual item or not) to make sure they are used each week.
  • Most weeks I have the highest value coupons (up to £5 off an item) but not always - some weeks have been much lower. DH has the best this week and DS's were pretty good too. Anyway, it definitely varies.
  • Last month we also used the money off vouchers that were printed at the self scan till after we had paid (some people just left theirs - we found a £14 off a £70 shop this way (we never got one that good printed after we paid - it was usually 10% off a bigger shop but that is still useful to us) and used that, so not linked to account)
  • This month DS got 8 x £8 off when you spend £40 vouchers (paper ones in the post) so I'm using those too (again not linked to account so I don't need to faff about using his waitrose card).
  • Definitely saving a good £100+/month on our shopping so worth the initial faff of getting used to it and it is keeping us loyal.

I've rubbish vouchers this week but do have a 14 off a 70 shop so will use that
