Just tried the 'new offers' on Waitrose. You have download the offers at home but then scan to scan a QR code at the til point and click into a coupon for every offer. Surely they could put the offers directly into your Waitrose Card like M&S Sparks Card does?
Given John Lewis is on a downward track - surely making shopping difficult at Waitrose won't help keep customers. Anybody else found this as unnecessarily complicated?

Reading the responses some aren’t finding the vouchers. The easiest way is at Checkout, where there is a Vouchers section midway down, usually there from Wednesday. 3 vouchers, including one newspaper then 2 others linked to your usual purchases. I choose the ones offering the biggest discount - so £2 off braising steak, £2 off bacon, £1 off double cream, or £1 off Jusrol pastry. I’ve never had just 50p offered. You can choose your vouchers elsewhere, but must remember to put the items in your trolley and then ADD them at Checkout. If you don’t do this you won’t get credited. It is a faff, and I have told Waitrose this.

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 28/05/2022 02:37

My offers are amazing, I quite often get £3 or even £4 off. For example this week I had £4 off the laundry liquid I use. The vouchers are really easy to use with online shops in @the app, not tried to use them in store. The only thing I would say is a bit cheeky is once you’ve chosen your vouchers you still have to remember to manually add them at the checkout, they’re not automatically taken off your shop.

bellabasset · 28/05/2022 07:58

I self scan at Waitrose, and choose my vouchers while I'm there. I have to go through a till as I found it awkward using my phone at the self service till. My cat was very pleased with the £3 off Encore! As you can only choose two vouchers I'm not sure how that would work putting it on your card. Perhaps they could put a money off your shop voucher on your card.

thegcatsmother · 28/05/2022 08:36

I print the vouchers at home, as I don't have a smartphone. I've been getting £5 off my favourite brand of loo roll, and offers on bread, butter and meat.

BooseysMom · 28/05/2022 12:55

Courante thanks. I contacted customer services today and couldn't believe it as apparently they've got a different card number for me with my old email address I asked to be closed down years ago. So I asked how have I still be getting vouchers on my app and in the post and he didn't know! So now I have to have another card with a new number which I have to use for a few weeks before I get any more vouchers. Ridiculous. I think I will have to write a letter of complaint and then they might send me a voucher in the post!

Valeriekat · 28/05/2022 17:52

Just been to Waitrose where a customer must have taken 10 minutes of a partner's time scanning coupons while everyone else was awaiting age checks. What a poorly thought out waste of everyone's time.

smogsville · 30/05/2022 11:03

completely agree with everyone's comments about how faffy it is and how it holds other customers up when someone needs help.

But for me I am better off now. Used to have to spend a tenner for the 'free' paper, now I can have it for absolutely nothing if I so choose. And the vouchers I get on the app are much more generous than what they used to send through the post, plus they're on a weekly basis not just every now and then. I'm spending less with them which can't have been what they intended.

zingally · 30/05/2022 12:02

I just miss the free coffee! There were two machines for it in my local Waitrose. They've removed one completely now, but the other is still there... Crossing my fingers!
Although I suspect it's gone for good now. Covid was a good excuse to cut the service, without customers getting up in arms about it.

TheDogsMother · 30/05/2022 15:22

I was sent a survey after my visit so I used the opportunity to point out that the way vouchers are handled isn't user friendly and probably a complete pain for the cashiers too. I got an email back from Customer Services saying Head Office were aware of the issue and were thinking of going back to paper vouchers. I replied saying I personally wouldn't welcome paper vouchers and why couldn't they just resolve the functionality using the Boots card as an example i.e choose your offer and it's automatically applied at the checkout.

Exactly. We lost our coffee machine and our cafe due to Covid. The cafe is back at last but the coffee machine isn't! I don't thunk they'll reintroduce it tbh

I'm winning today, £18 saved off a very big shop with this week's and last week's vouchers used! £4.50 + £3.50 + £5 +£3

CandidaAlbicans2 · 01/06/2022 16:18

The way they've designed the vouchers is a faff, but now I've got used to it I'm finding it easier. Thankfully there's good phone signal in my local store so I look at my vouchers then see what's actually on the shelves before activating the 2 I want. I love how they're personalised, so I regularly get £2 off my fave ready meal, and today I got £2 off my favourite cake! 😎Proportionally they were pretty big savings.

Tamarin456 · 19/06/2022 14:16

No free paper anymore!!! What’s the point of Waitrose card!

BurscoughBooths · 19/06/2022 15:37

I get a voucher for a free paper every day, if I choose to go & get one.

I get personalised vouchers every week which save money - this week I saved £7.50 on food and £5.60 on 2 newspapers

i also got 20% discount on pastries

How did you get all these?! My vouchers only add up to £2-3 p/w. So unfair! 😅

vjg13 · 26/06/2022 12:09

@BooseysMom On a Wednesday if you haven't previously used them, you can use 4 vouchers (the week before's and the new ones). I just pick the highest value ones each time. I seem to get a £5 one and £4.50 one and then lesser value ones.

vjg13 · 26/06/2022 12:10

I never get the newspaper ones though.

Clarabellasingsthisbit · 26/06/2022 13:34

Sorry-I came on here to complain about the online vouchers too,but someone mentioned the 'Overheard in Waitrose' FB page so I had to go over there to have a look and I haven't stopped laughing😂
Once you've picked the two vouchers for shopping online, there doesn't seem to be any way of changing your mind and choosing another voucher/s instead-or is there?

Really

I haven't used any for a while and could only pick 2 again

vjg13 · 28/06/2022 09:29

@Clarabellasingsthisbit Not that I can see, that's why I choose the highest value ones.
@woodhill You would need to have picked two the week before and have them active, then choose the new ones on Wednesday and do your shopping on Wednesday before the ones from the previous week expire.

woodhill · 28/06/2022 11:22

Thanks

Thanks for this. I never get any higher than £2. Occasionally they give out paper vouchers that say £6 if you spend £100, or something like that, just encouraging you you to spend more.

ajandjjmum · 30/06/2022 17:37

Just got back from holiday to find an envelope with four vouchers all for £26 discount - as long as I spend £170 in store.

They closed my store! Talk about rubbing salt in the wound.

(Although I have to say that some of the Tesco Club Card offers are excellent).

floweringpoppies · 30/06/2022 19:56

I won today! Had a £4 off Persil and thought I'd try it, had a £2 off something else too (which I did buy). Went to self service and both accepted so £6 off!

Bloody hell! That's good. I never get that much off and I spend over £100 every week too. So unfair! I might see what Tesco offers there are as a pp mentioned above.
