Just tried the 'new offers' on Waitrose. You have download the offers at home but then scan to scan a QR code at the til point and click into a coupon for every offer. Surely they could put the offers directly into your Waitrose Card like M&S Sparks Card does?
Given John Lewis is on a downward track - surely making shopping difficult at Waitrose won't help keep customers. Anybody else found this as unnecessarily complicated?

I thought the vouchers were fantastic at first - £4.50 off Charlie Bighams Chicken Tikka Masala and a good £3 or so off others we regularly buy. I have noticed that the amounts have slowly been getting smaller but the items have still been the things we buy so still worthwhile.

However, this past week has been a disappointment - 50p off for a range of things we never buy...

There's some explanation on Waitrose Twitter as to why the voucher offering changed last week, it's deliberate to get people to try new things. There's a lot of opposition as you can imagine.

FayeGovan · 18/07/2022 20:30

I was the exact same this week, lots of crap offers for stuff i never buy anyway....

MrsMAgain · 18/07/2022 20:35

Yes, very poor loyalty offers last week. Their tactics didn't work with me, I just spent less.

Sparklingbrook · 18/07/2022 20:37

This is what was stated on Twitter

this week we have begun trialling different combinations of products and reward discounts included in weekly vouchers. Some of the offers this week have been based on recommended products rather than just products a customer has bought before.

MrsMAgain · 18/07/2022 20:37

I haven't seen any codes for money off the whole shop either this month. Anybody else?

anewbook · 18/07/2022 21:04

@Sparklingbrook
Thanks, I hadn't seen that. I think mine were all "recommended products" this week. 50 p off peppermint chocolate? no thanks!
I thought it had been a bit too good to last to be honest!

Newestname002 · 18/07/2022 21:34

How irritating. I really only want vouchers for things I buy regularly, and know I like. They used to do this with the voucher booklets they used to send in the post - and it was annoying then. 🌹

84wood · 18/07/2022 22:01

I stuck with Waitrose for a long while. Then they started delivering awful fruit/veg. So I went into store to buy inedible meat in their chicken selection. Changed to M&S. Just had enough.

Newestname002 · 18/07/2022 23:02

Their own sausages have been terrible recently - I used to love them. Disappointing. Possibly I've also been spoiled recently by proper butchers' sausages with lots of meat and seasoning and larger-sized than the sausages Waitrose provide... 🌹

TheMess · 18/07/2022 23:11

This week, of my 8 offers, I could choose £1.50 off a small box of Yorkshire Gold teabags or £3 off a large box of Yorkshire teabags. Confused

saraclara · 18/07/2022 23:53

I thought it was just me. After getting some decent vouchers for £1.50 off things I buy (which actually got me visiting the store and buying more), this week's are all for 50p. So I'll be sticking to my local Tesco instead of driving a couple of miles to Waitrose.

vjg13 · 19/07/2022 09:10

Mine have dropped to derisory small amounts. I haven't been for about 4 weeks either so you would think they should be better.

Womenandwomenfirst · 19/07/2022 10:44

Not just me then!

Week one the vouchers were awful. Subsequent weeks surprisingly generous. Last two weeks I didn’t bother using them as meagre 50p offerings on stuff I would never buy.

i don’t disagree with the policy of tempting customers to try new products/ranges, but the encouragement has to be better than 50p!

btw I was in store last week and heard branch manager telling a Top Manager that no one was buying the Levantine Table stuff. They also have a whole aisle of ( very expensive)vegan stuff which always has tumbleweed blowing down it.

Haffiana · 19/07/2022 11:09

The Levantine Table stuff is utterly over-engineered and inauthentic, and I am not surprised no-one buys it. It tastes muddled, dull and uninteresting. Throwing more and more ingredients in completely takes away from that sort of dish where simplicity and excellence is key.

One year for example, they did middle-eastern meatballs, but unbelievably they were made from pork... The head designer/buyer needs replacing with someone who actually knows about food.

M&S do it far better and their packaging is more noticeable and attractive.

Sparklingbrook · 19/07/2022 11:29

I quite like the Levantine table stuff, good for picnics etc but can see why it might not be popular.

smogsville · 19/07/2022 17:11

what's making me cross is that lots of Essential lines are disappearing eg the 8 fruit ice lollies for £1, or the cornetto style ice cream cones that were inexpensive and good to have in the freezer when the children have friends over.
Sort of undermines the whole point of Waitrose for me. I try not to buy brands there as they are so much more expensive than at the larger supermarkets. If only my local Iceland would put in some self checkouts, I'd run in there on way back from school drop off before starting work but they only have old fashioned cashiers and there's always a queue/ skeleton staff.

Thanks for this! I was so flummoxed by the crap offers this week (compared to the decent ones usually) that I was going to start a thread to see if anyone else had had this. Hope it goes back to normal soon. I'm happy to try new stuff if the discount is more than a paltry few pence, but as you only get to use two vouchers I'm going to use the ones that make the most financial sense.

I'm so so cross they stopped doing the Colombian Coffee magnum-style ice creams too...

And yes, I noticed this too. Used to get the pork & apple ones but they have changed and are overly sweet and less tasty now.

Me too! What possessed them? They were my favourite of all individual ice creams. I was gutted.

My vouchers have also dropped to 50p this week. I've stopped visiting the store completely. Get the occasional online order.

Apparently you can't use the free newspaper offer if it's earlier than 3pm or some nonsense like that.

There is no longer a free newspaper offer.

I can get a free newspaper every day if I go to the shop - don’t even have to buy anything. There is a separate newspaper voucher section in My Waitrose.

if you have deliveries, you cannot get a newspaper for deliveries before 3pm, presumably because the papers might not have been delivered to the shop when your order is picked

I don't get newspapers but I thought the deal where you spend x amount and get a free paper ended? And the delivery/3pm thing was because the papers were never delivered to the shop early enough for the morning ones?

saraclara · 19/07/2022 18:41

Not in mine.
