Just been reading up on this and it's fascinating.

One of mine is the monopoly man not having a monocle, I could've swore he did.

Anyone else have any good ones?

I saw a great video on this by LEMMiNO with all the classic ones. Bernstein Bears, Ford logo I think. Are we allowed to post YouTube links ... I'll try...

GrandTheftWalrus · 27/02/2022 19:50

Ooh thanks for that. I'll have a wee watch when dancing on ice is finished.

Golden wonder cheese and onion are in a green packet.
I think people think Walkers were and they weren't.
SouthOfFrance · 27/02/2022 20:10

Eh? Monopoly man doesn't have a monocle?

Exactly, op thought he did.
ReeseWitherfork · 27/02/2022 20:29

Amusingly the big one for me is the Mandela one. I swear I remember him dying decades ago.

Does the number of US states count as an example? It's so common for people to think there are 52 and it drives me bonkers.

VelvetChairGirl · 27/02/2022 20:30

@GrandTheftWalrus

Golden wonder cheese and onion are in a green packet.
yes they are and?
Redannie118 · 27/02/2022 20:37

The last line of "We are the champions" by Queen. The Mandela effect is everyone thinks the line is " "No time for losers, cos we are the champions- of the world"
The last line is in fact" NO time for losers cos we are the champions"
No one knows where the " Of the world" bit comes from. I have a very very vivid memory of Freddie singing it, but it never happened !

Yes they were.
Vanillaradio · 27/02/2022 20:39

The crisps one is because Golden Wonder had green packets for cheese and onion. They used to be the most popular nationally. Walkers then took over as most popular and had blue for cheese and onion and other crisp manufacturers followed their lead so it was as if the colour switched. I'm originally from Leicester so they've always been blue to me as Walkers were always most popular!
I could swear we were taught there were 52 States at school though. Alaska and Hawaii as the two extra

LaurieFairyCake · 27/02/2022 20:40

Freddie does sing that in the live versions Grin

"Of the world"

No ones taken their lead everyone elses cheese and onion is still green including golden wonders.
Nomoresmoresthensnores · 27/02/2022 20:43

OMG I love the Mandela effect theory... but haven't ever thought it applied to me. Except yes I thought 52 states... and I am so sure the Queen song has 'of the World'. I'm wondering whether they sang that at Live Aid??

Vanillaradio · 27/02/2022 20:43

Really. All the other ones I have bought are also blue. Guess it's a mixture then.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/02/2022 20:46

I definitely thought the monopoly man had a monocle.

Isn't it 52 including the non-states (DC and Puerto Rico)?

Alaska and Hawaii are the 49th and 50th states. This 52 states thing is really common.
ReeseWitherfork · 27/02/2022 20:50

@mynameiscalypso I'm convinced it must be DC and PR causing the confusion. But neither are states.

VelvetChairGirl · 27/02/2022 20:51

are they all made by walkers?
GrandTheftWalrus · 27/02/2022 20:51

@VelvetChairGirl I was replying to the poster that thought they were always green. I'm assuming she thought of walkers so I was just replying with that

OP posts:
Vanillaradio · 27/02/2022 20:53

Nope- Sainsburys own brand Asda own brand and Aldi. All blue.

ReeseWitherfork · 27/02/2022 20:57
