Just been reading up on this and it's fascinating.

One of mine is the monopoly man not having a monocle, I could've swore he did.

Anyone else have any good ones?

@VelvetChairGirl why are you being so rude and so defensive over a pack of bloody golden wonders cheese and onion. Also, walkers cheese and onion are top tier.

BadHairDayExpert · 27/02/2022 22:54

Original track We are the champions and fade
Live Aid Freddie belts it out
Risky Business - Scrubs and the Nanny had white shirts and sunglasses

My pedantic brain probably corrected Sketchers for ages I thought Tank Man had been run over...til I realised I was thinking of Kevin Kline being steamrollered in AFCW I was reminded of this on the Wheel recently. We're gonna need a bigger boat is the line often cited but it is a misquote - the chief actually says YOU'RE I shouted out we're before the answers were read out then realised Bugger, I am misquoting Jaws again damned parallel universe
BoredZelda · 27/02/2022 22:58

It gets some people wound up, if it's hung upside down!

It also gets people wound up when you call it the Union Jack. It is the Union Flag, and only becomes the Union Jack when it is flown at sea.

BoredZelda · 27/02/2022 23:00

My own personal one is about season two of a show I was watching.

Went back to re-watch this show and got to the end of season one and went to look for season two and it wasn’t there. I eventually googled to find where I could watch it and it doesn’t exist. But I can tell you exactly how it ended. 😆

KillingMeDeftly · 27/02/2022 23:08

The film Shazam starring the actor Sinbad where he played a genie. I can picture him in his costume even now. But nope, never happened!

LemonViolet · 27/02/2022 23:09

Maybe the symmetrical version in “my” universe is called the Union Jack all the time Grin

(Still not really convinced!)

WhateverHappenedToFayWray · 27/02/2022 23:15

I swear Sex and the City was Sex in the City

ode2me · 27/02/2022 23:20

@AliceMcK

April Levine music video to Sk8ter boy. I swear the original video has the girl sat at home with a baby watching the boy on mtv and her in the crowd at his concert. But no search can find that video. Lots of people remember it, others don’t.
I remember it!!!

Maybe you're thinking of 'Kazaam' starring Shaquille O'Neill?

No one says "play it again Sam''' in Casablanca

MarshaBradyo · 27/02/2022 23:33

My Ds told me about this

Couldn’t believe Monopoly man one

GrandTheftWalrus · 27/02/2022 23:37

I remember a scene in Ace Ventura: When nature calls, that he found an old guy with with tashe and a monocle and he said "oh look its the monopoly guy"

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 27/02/2022 23:41

The monopoly man is a new one on me!

APJ1 · 27/02/2022 23:42

I swear Sex and the City was Sex in the City

If I remember correctly, Channel 4 or maybe Sky One did show a one-off documentary in the early 2000s titled 'Sex In the City'. That might've caused the confused memory. I can't find proof of that on Google though, it just brings up SATC stuff!

OhWhyNot · 27/02/2022 23:46

Mine is a sad one. I remembered watching the tragedy of Hillsborough unfold

But I am not a football fan and no one is my household was a Liverpool or Nottingham Forrest supporter more likely the racing was on and interrupted by the news and we then watched it

But in my memory I am watching the match and can see players looking into the crowd and we are discussing it at home saying something seems wrong. I think this is quite a common experience

Also the same with seeing the second plane fly into the Twin Towers. Few of us would have seen this live as it happened but so many are absolutely sure they did

DoorWasAJar · 27/02/2022 23:52

Looney Tunes was Looney Toons, for me as a child. I know for a fact Febreeze was spelled like this and not Febreze Hmm

Just don’t know why.

DoorWasAJar · 27/02/2022 23:55

The queen in snow white said: Mirror mirror on the wall. Now it was always: Magic mirror on the wall.

I found residue of this in a children’s book in a different language, it said ‘mirror mirror’ like I remember.

I definitely saw the second plane fly in live. I was watching it on TV with my Mum and we were looking at the smoke coming out of the first tower then saw the plane crash into the second one. Definitely didn't imagine it! It was live on the news.
MrPoppysParka · 28/02/2022 00:00

I think the 52 states thing might be because there are 52 weeks in a year. So our brain sort of conflates the two facts.

NopeNoNope · 28/02/2022 00:01

Myself and dd love these. Over the last few years she has sent me random quizzes which feature ones we haven't heard of so I won't list ones that haven't been mentioned yet in case anyone wants to to do a daft quiz.

Queen most definitely sing ‘of the world’ in We Are The Champions - very easy to have checked this!

Mandela Effect
GrandTheftWalrus · 28/02/2022 00:04

Yeah I definitely seen the second plane fly into the tower as it went to live news after the 1st one. And I thought it was a film till I realised bbc1 and stv were showing the same thing.

OP posts:
TheFlyHalfsMum · 28/02/2022 00:05

Yes @MerryPoppings I definitely saw the second plane hit live - and I think a lot of people did because the news was rolling live as it happened.

tothesea · 28/02/2022 00:08

I can remember the first series of Friends had different opening credits but there is nothing on-line about it and no-one else remembers it. It ended with them sitting on a sofa with their backs to the camera and one of them turned the lamp off but they were outside. Weird.

DoorWasAJar · 28/02/2022 00:08

@Redannie118

The last line of "We are the champions" by Queen. The Mandela effect is everyone thinks the line is " "No time for losers, cos we are the champions- of the world" The last line is in fact" NO time for losers cos we are the champions" No one knows where the " Of the world" bit comes from. I have a very very vivid memory of Freddie singing it, but it never happened !
SaAaAaAme! It’s very jarring as my father loved Queen when I was little and I remember it so well ☹️ Possible that I heard a live version and the record version ends differently...
