I am so bored today, so I was chatting about film recommendations with someone. I love action films, and a few with Ryan Reynolds were mentioned, and he seems to pop up in a load of them just now. AIBU to think Ryan Reynolds is a terrible actor? I can’t stand him, and he acts like he is playing the same character in every film, and his voice is intensely irritating. He ruins every film he’s in, and I don’t know why he annoys me so much, but I just don’t get why he’s so popular. He gives me the ick. Is it just me?

He does indeed play the same character in every film but I really like the character he does play!

So YABU on that basis. I like him and Blake Lively together too.

His voice is irritating.

I've largely avoided films he's in because he gave me the ick in some kind of teen sitcom thing he was in in the early 2000s.

He has a very dry, dark sense of humour which i quite enjoy. But it the same in every film.

I like him and think he's very funny. My dh made me watch Deadlpool 1 and 2 recently and it was really good!

He absolutely does play the same character in every film, so he's lucky that it happens to be a good character to watch!

I really like him so can't complain, the humour is one I get.

No, he annoys me too - he’s one of those actors who seems to crop up everywhere but is not particularly talented and only ever plays the same type of character. Blake also really irritates me - it’s like no-one else has ever had a family or had a husband who changed a nappy (sorry, diaper).

Yes, it is just you. Ryan Reynolds is a god and I will hear not a bad word said about him. He's sexy, hilarious, clearly besotted with his wife in a way that only makes him more attractive. For crying out loud, he's Deadpool! Plus he's incredibly generous and does a huge amount for good causes in his native Canada. In no way am I obsessed with him. All these opinions are entirely objective and without any bias or personal feeling. The end.

I usually appreciate a very dark, dry sense of humour so I don't know why he irritates me so much.

You are terribly terribly wrong. I love him. He isn’t a great actor but I don’t care because I could watch him until my eyes fall out of my head.

@TriciaMcMillan I agree with every word you wrote. DP knows he would have to budge over for Ryan.

@TriciaMcMillan have you seen the YouTube clip of him on an Asian version of The Masked Singer? He sings dressed as a rainbow unicorn. It’s a thing of wonder.

Used to give me the ick too - weird slimy teddy bear face. But after watching Deadpool and the Hitman's Bodyguard I have a rather large crush. Swoon.

I quite like him and find him funny. And he’s apparently a very nice person. That explains his popularity.

Just don’t watch films he’s in if he bothers you that much. It’s unkind to comment on his voice, people can’t help their voice.

I did think he was good in Deadpool but it was the Hitman's Bodyguard that put me right off him. Couldn't watch the sequel and thought he was ok in Red Notice but it would have been a much better film with someone else playing his part.

I've only seen him in Deadpool and that Netflix thing with the rock. Both of which were pretty crap.
However, he's made my husband and three out of four DC incredibly happy by buying our local football team so I like him! COYR ⚽️

I feel exactly the same! EVERY character he plays is the same!
Even his Insta/Twitter persona is the same, which makes me think he's not even an actor, he just plays himself annoying twat all the time

I'm sure he's absolutely lovely, but I don't rate him as an actor. His voice is more about how he delivers his lines, he does it in the same way in every film he is in. Plus, he's an actor, he should have some kind of range.

He seems like a funny likeable guy who doesn't take himself too seriously. I wouldn't mind having a double date with him and Blake, I think they'd both be good fun. He does nothing for me in terms of attractiveness - I really can't see the appeal - and yeah he does always seem to play himself but I do like to watch him.

Jennifer Lawrence is another one who always seems to play the same role - feisty outspoken quirky girl - but I don't mind her either.
