Neighbour stole my delivery?

Eleanr · 31/01/2022 19:26

Have NC as I don't want this linked to my other posts. Could be outing.

I ordered a £600 item online. Normally when I order expensive items I have to give a code, which is sent via email, to the delivery driver.

I was out today and got an email to say my package had been delivered. There was a picture included, which was very obviously my neighbour.

I thought, great, that's fine! We often take parcels in for each other. When I went to collect it from her she denied all knowledge. I was a bit flustered trying to take the dogs/ shopping inside so I just said "oh okay there must be some mistake" and went into my house.

Now I've looked closer at the pic just to make sure and it's definitely her house, she must have jt!

What would you do? I don't want to accuse her of stealing, but.... ?

@iklboo

I've found the escaped skate goat.
Or is that how Hermes et al are delivering parcels now, by goats on skateboards?!
momls20 · 01/02/2022 01:37

Just here for an update Blush

PenStation · 01/02/2022 01:49

Any news OP?

I wish companies wouldn’t put logos of expensive products on boxes. I was walking down a busy street and saw such a box sitting outside a closed door. I thought how a thief could so easily take it.

I’m curious about the photo. If the box has branding on it then surely you can see it in the photo so why is the neighbour saying it’s pet food? If you can’t see things clearly then I’d be wary of accusing her. Perhaps delivery driver had a parcel for her and took photo then used that to claim yours was delivered too. It just seems odd she’d steal it knowing they took pic of delivery.

Notimeforaname · 01/02/2022 01:59

I won't rest til I find out what happened to that hoover🤣

TigerLilyTail · 01/02/2022 01:59

I also think you need to stop messaging the neighbor and contact the company you ordered with to say it hasn't arrived. They will deal with the courier company.

FMLpassthegin · 01/02/2022 02:02

I watched a DpD driver deliver a parcel to my designated safe place that you agree to IF you aren't in,,,, well he delivered it, took a photo and I watched him then collect it back up to put in his van with him - I ran out the front door and said '"it's ok I am home you would know if you'd knocked? Please can you hand me my parcel?" He did and I wish I'd recorded his van details as this must go on a lot

AutomaticMoon · 01/02/2022 02:17

I also got a refurbished dyson air purifier/heater from Dyson outlet and it was delivered in a box with the huge logo and photo of product IIRC, it went to a completely different address nearby and the people there accepted it even though it had a different address. Tracking showed as delivered and I was pooping myself until we found it but thank God those people didn’t just lie, it’s a commercial address with offices and I had no way of knowing particularly who had taken delivery.

I think it’s disgusting that these companies sell such overpriced products and then use the packaging for advertising, putting the buyer at risk of theft.

AutomaticMoon · 01/02/2022 02:19

@FMLpassthegin OMG the absolute cheek. Did he even look embarrassed at being caught out?

Lemonweightloss · 01/02/2022 02:27

@FMLpassthegin, that's appalling behaviour.

KosherDill · 01/02/2022 02:45

Very strange. Looking forward to the update!

What if it's a row of houses built at the same time, with all/some having the same original entryway carpet. I've been in 3 of my neighbours' houses and all our porches/entryways look exactly the same.

Ponyo001 · 01/02/2022 03:06

^ I don't mean furniture-wise, obviously, I mean just if the pic is showing the parcel, the step and the carpet.

Why would you need his van details? DPD would have known who it was if you had reported it based on the tracking number.
Gooseysgirl · 01/02/2022 03:27

This is baffling... there's got to be an explanation! Especially if they have taken in parcels before with no issues? We've had at least two parcels taken by our next door neighbours - but they are evil feckers so it didn't surprise me. I put a note on all orders now to absolutely not deliver to no.XX.

GiantHaystacks2021 · 01/02/2022 03:33

You'll have to go back to the company and tell them it's been stolen and that you never received the goods.
I would also go to the police.

TigerLilyTail · 01/02/2022 04:05

I suspect you'd be wasting your time with the police.

Forget the neighbor and start with the company that you ordered from. They are really the only ones who can resolve this.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 01/02/2022 04:26

I’m here for the escape goats.

WutheringHeights66 · 01/02/2022 05:06

Surely the picture shows the box with Shark written all over it or whatever and she can’t claim that was a pet food delivery.

Unless she thinks you have a Shark in a tank in the living room.

pompomseverywhere · 01/02/2022 05:36

What a CF

sweetbellyhigh · 01/02/2022 05:45

Oh dear! How awkward.

Silly neighbour.

Though the responsibility must lie with the delivery driver if they didn't ask for the code?

custardbear · 01/02/2022 05:47

That's awful! Are the neighbours usually ok? Could the driver have faked it somehow (I don't know how !)

HappiestHippo123 · 01/02/2022 05:54

Do any other neighbours on the street have cctv? They may have recorded the van arriving on the street, or the driver walking to the neighbours house etc.
