Neighbour stole my delivery?

Eleanr · 31/01/2022 19:26

Have NC as I don't want this linked to my other posts. Could be outing.

I ordered a £600 item online. Normally when I order expensive items I have to give a code, which is sent via email, to the delivery driver.

I was out today and got an email to say my package had been delivered. There was a picture included, which was very obviously my neighbour.

I thought, great, that's fine! We often take parcels in for each other. When I went to collect it from her she denied all knowledge. I was a bit flustered trying to take the dogs/ shopping inside so I just said "oh okay there must be some mistake" and went into my house.

Now I've looked closer at the pic just to make sure and it's definitely her house, she must have jt!

What would you do? I don't want to accuse her of stealing, but.... ?

Some people are awful. I don't even know my neighbours and wouldn't dream of doing this

Fromthebirdsnest · 31/01/2022 23:09

I had this donkeys years ago when I moved into my house , I didn't have any furniture or appliances obviously , my family brought me brought me several large items as house warming gifts and inlew of birthday presents , I had a delivery of a hoover, a washing machine, a kettle & iron it was a timed delivery for after 5 but the driver dropped them off at 1? I was at work but I had a note that it had been signed for by a neighbour so I rang a friend with a sack truck as the washing machine was supposed to be taken in , anyway I knocked my neighbours door who had signed for it and he denied he had it , with the washing machine box behind him ! It wasn't until my friend told him he would ring the police he agreed to give it back , and tried to ask for £20 for signing .. biggest CF I've encountered to date!

Momijin · 31/01/2022 23:11

I cant believe she didn't fess up when you provided evidence! This has never happened to me although as a wfh person I'm usually the one taken parcels in for the neighbours.

AllOfUsAreDead · 31/01/2022 23:15

Wow she's a cheeky bitch. If it's one of those Dyson hair dryers she's kept it for herself. Hope she comes round soon with it.

SoupDragon · 31/01/2022 23:21

I want an escape goat. I think it would come on very handy.

Pandoracharm · 31/01/2022 23:24

I can't stop laughing at this. What the actual HmmShockConfused
stayathomegardener · 31/01/2022 23:26

Just watch out for new hallway carpets being fitted tomorrow!
Tender hooks here too. Smile

I know it's your actual life @Eleanr and fingers crossed for a good outcome but this is heading into Mumsnet Classics territory with the amateur sleuthing and grammatical reprimands combo.

3amMusings · 31/01/2022 23:26

Op did the picture show the parcel with the brand name over it?

Babyghirl · 31/01/2022 23:28

Hate when the op does not come back and update, either she has went round and got hoovered up or they have both been arrested 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.

Bakewelltart987 · 31/01/2022 23:30

One time I took a parcel in had photo taken of it in my hall then the fella came back and said just noticed i got the wrong street so I give it back hours later neighbour knocks for her parcel I explained what happened and thankfully have a camera so had prove to show her. Not sure of the outcome for her and if this had happened surely neighbour would of just said but yes delivery drivers do some awful things.

whysonasty · 31/01/2022 23:37

“Tender hooks” “Escape goats”

😂😂😂

KatherineofGaunt · 31/01/2022 23:40

Is it not escape goat? 😱 or skate goat? Now I'm confused!

@WingingItSince1973 It's scapegoat.

nalabae · 31/01/2022 23:41

Hermes or dhl whoever delivered will have date. She’s a scumbag, imagine starting issues with someone over such little money. People these days have no morals

AgathaMystery · 31/01/2022 23:42

Agh!

The escaped goat is on the most tender of hooks here!

Need an update!! 🍿

2018SoFarSoGreat · 31/01/2022 23:44

Poor OP, but this thread has made me laugh.

I'm now combining the wonderful malaprops in my head, with the result that I totally want a tender escape goat, as a pet, not to eat mind you!

fairgame84 · 31/01/2022 23:45

Has the neighbour stolen the OP as well?
We need an update!

lucie82 · 31/01/2022 23:46

I hope you get your parcel back! I'm so glad my hubby doesn't leave the house so he can get all my parcels

RobertsRadio · 31/01/2022 23:57

@fairgame84

Has the neighbour stolen the OP as well? We need an update!
I think so, along with Op's escaped goat.
boireannach · 31/01/2022 23:58

Just a word of caution OP. At Christmas time I got a photo of my front door with a message saying I’d missed a delivery. I was in at the time and knew I hadn’t missed it.
We had Christmas lights at the door which weren’t on the photo, so the photo must have been an old one. Parcel arrived next day.

iklboo · 01/02/2022 01:00

I've found the escaped skate goat.

Neighbour stole my delivery?

Agreed.

Last week I had a courier parcel coming out, and received an email notice that I could suggest ''safe spots'' for it to be left without signature. As I'm in and out, I listed two areas that I know to be safe.

On Friday I received an email to say my parcel had been delivered to my safe spots. Nothing there at all.

today my postie drops the parcel in... the courier company had given it to him.

SomeOwlsCoo · 01/02/2022 01:20

Absolutely not just place marking to get an outcome.

Booklover3 · 01/02/2022 01:21

Oh ffs hope you manage to get it sorted
