How long does javelin arse last?

TiffanyAchingsHatFullofSky · 29/01/2022 22:20

It happened to me last week for the first time in ages. It lasted about 5-6 seconds.

I was just wondering whether, when we describe javelin arse, are we all experiencing the same thing?

Does it only last a few seconds for others as well?

Fugax sorry

garlicandsapphires · 29/01/2022 22:56

About 20 minutes for me! It’s pretty rare though. Every 4-6 months.

AnneKipankitoo · 29/01/2022 22:57

Ooh !

godmum56 · 29/01/2022 22:57

@Totalwasteofpaper

5-6 secs and on occasion, if deeply unlucky, maybe 15-20 secs max.

15 mins could probably kill a human. 😂😂😂

it doesn't but there are times when you wish it would.
godmum56 · 29/01/2022 22:58

proctalgia fugax....another little gift of menopause that keeps on giving

MichelleScarn · 29/01/2022 22:58

Fuck a duck @garlicandsapphires how do you function?!

Peakypolly · 29/01/2022 23:00

@ZZTopGuitarSolo

15 minutes or more. I lie on my side, deep breathe, get cold sweats, nearly pass out, nearly throw up, want to die, etc. Its awful.
Same here. I have only experienced around 4 times in my life thankfully, and not for a few years, but once was on a train. Excruciating.
RachelGreeneGreep · 29/01/2022 23:00

@ExplodingCarrots

It's usually when I'm about to get period or whilst got it.
Same here, around the time of periods, just before, usually.

I usually get it at night. Woke up one night last week with it, hadn't had it in ages before that.

Bessica · 29/01/2022 23:01

Buscopan tablets are your friend I find they help if I get a bad case of javelin arse.

ivegotamillionkids · 29/01/2022 23:03

Stabby bum pain in this house 🤣

RachelGreeneGreep · 29/01/2022 23:03

I admit I was glad to discover, on here, some years ago, that others suffer with it too. I thought it was just me.

Also, javelin arse is the perfect description for it. I also learned that term here, some years ago!

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 29/01/2022 23:07

@hamsterchump

What on earth? Why does this happen to so many of you?

I've never heard of it, is it something to do with Centre Parks? Just another reason to keep away from there for me if so.

Centre parks? GrinConfused Why assume that?
OneSugar1 · 29/01/2022 23:07

All of my labour pains were like this. About 36 hours of it every ten minutes.

namechanged221 · 29/01/2022 23:07

Yes I get it in the night...

I read a cure online.

You basically punch your bum cheeks 25 times on each side... like punch the bum cheeks though not where the pain is. Sounds crazy I know.

It actually works! It just stops the muscles spasm and relaxes it.

Start doing it as soon as you feel it starting off... and it should stop the attack!!!

HTH

Also hot water bottle helps.

LondonQueen · 29/01/2022 23:08

I've thankfully not had this for a while, but it can last up to a minute for me, it is completely debilitating and has me bent over in agony. I went to the doctor thinking it was something serious and he said it can be made worse by stress, anxiety or your period.

ABitOfAShitShow · 29/01/2022 23:08

can’t stop laughing. I forgot about Javelin Arse. For me it’s a few seconds at a time but like a PP said, in clusters.

comfortablyfrumpy · 29/01/2022 23:08

I have realised that it is a good while since I have has this - but I am other side of menopause now.
I used to get it at night , every few months it would wake me up and was excruciating. Would last about 20 minutes or so.

AndStand · 29/01/2022 23:08

My Dad used to get it, so I don't think it's necessarily linked to ovulation, periods or the menopause 😁

HoobleDooble · 29/01/2022 23:08

I haven't had javelin arse for ages! Used to just last few seconds but I'd be holding my breath.

Bear down as if pooing and it eases faster.

Ooh nay , JA and Diverticular Disease would get very messy very quickly Blush

FunnysInLaJardin · 29/01/2022 23:10

its ovulation pain, in case anyone was wondering!

LondonQueen · 29/01/2022 23:11

@MooSakah

15 minutes!!! Of javelin arse?! Is it a women only thing? I feel like if men got it there would be a treatment by now.
Apparently it's more common in men. DH says he used to have this as a teenager but hasn't had it since.

Overtired201984 · 29/01/2022 23:11

Knitting needle up the bum pain here …. Lasts about 4 seconds , it’s hell , feels like if I was in a library at the time of it happening it could cause embarrassment.

Whatsyourfavouritescarymovie · 29/01/2022 23:11

Usually only lasts a few seconds but can happen a few times a day, then it won't happen again for another year Grin
