How long does javelin arse last?

TiffanyAchingsHatFullofSky · 29/01/2022 22:20

It happened to me last week for the first time in ages. It lasted about 5-6 seconds.

I was just wondering whether, when we describe javelin arse, are we all experiencing the same thing?

Does it only last a few seconds for others as well?

@FunnysInLaJardin

its ovulation pain, in case anyone was wondering!
No, it isn't. Ovulation pain is (and the NHS website agrees with me) a stabby pain in the lower abdomen, on the side of the of ovary that is releasing the egg. Javelin arse can happen at ovulation (it does for me) or during your period. Or at a random time.
shivabeaver · 29/01/2022 23:14

It's not ovulation pain, I get that too and it's completely different.

amusedbush · 29/01/2022 23:15

I feel really hard done by after reading this thread. I only get javelin arse once or twice a year but it's brutal and lasts for several minutes. Last time it happened in the middle of the night and it woke me up. I was frozen on my front, sweating, gripping the edge of the mattress and I could barely breathe until it passed. I started to wonder if that was it for me Blush

AndStand · 29/01/2022 23:17

Again....it's not ovulation pain because men get it too!

RuperttheBearHug · 29/01/2022 23:17

Fascinated to see others experience this too. I actually saw a GP about this in my early 20s. For me I only get it at night - usually while I’m asleep and I wake up in agony. It also seems to have some connection to if I semi orgasm in my sleep so I always had it down as a form of cramp. Like a pp at its worst I have blacked out, laid on cold bathroom floors sweating and tried not to vomit. Nothing relieves it other than a long spell on the toilet. Luckily it only happens once a month max.

Changemaname1 · 29/01/2022 23:18

Javelin arse 🤣🤣 normally only a few seconds thank god !

shivabeaver · 29/01/2022 23:18

Javelin arse does feel like a muscle spasm and for me only lasts a few seconds. I also get a weird muscle spasm in the left side of my back sometimes, which feels like I am being compressed. Have to stretch it out and it releases with a clunk feeling. Bodies are weird Hmm

Charley50 · 29/01/2022 23:19

Little man with the pointy metal stick. Can last up to 15 seconds with me.

MountainDweller · 29/01/2022 23:20

@PAFMO pouch of Douglas?

Mine was caused by endometriosis in the pouch of Douglas and a recto-vaginal nodule that grew fucking enormous because I was fobbed off for 8 years.

Three surgeries and years of GnRH drugs and now I have no more javelin arse (which used to happen when I sat down, because it put pressure on the area concerned).

SD1978 · 29/01/2022 23:20

Can last up to about 20 minutes here. Nothing helps or relieves it, usually rocking on the edge of the bed at least makes me mentally feel better, but I hate it.

Woahbodyforrrrm · 29/01/2022 23:22

Ahhhh I've not had a bout of javelin arse

Woahbodyforrrrm · 29/01/2022 23:23

I'm genuinely sorry for those of you who suffer more then a few seconds with this! That is no joke 💐.

On another note, my DH also gets JA.

ZigZagCat · 29/01/2022 23:23

Aye, I call them 'recal stabs' and they appear completely random. My brother got them, so nothng to do with ovulation.

Fink · 29/01/2022 23:25

I have read every post on this thread trying to work out what you're all talking about. Where is this pain? In the anus or all over the bum? And what are fanny daggers? How have you all got pains I've never heard of?!

EvilPea · 29/01/2022 23:25

I get it when ovulating. I also get ovulating pain.

For me it’s clusters of upto 10 seconds a spasm. When the clusters have gone on a bit I just take nurofen.

MrsAvocet · 29/01/2022 23:27

I get it for about 15-30 mins usually, only at night. Sometimes it wakes me up in the middle of the night. Fortunately not very often - once every few months probably. It's bloody horrific.

namechanged221 · 29/01/2022 23:27

Fanny daggers are the same pain but more in the perennium area

Benjispruce5 · 29/01/2022 23:27

1-2 seconds, has me lifting out of my seat or bed.Haven’t had it in ages actually, thank goodness.

EvilPea · 29/01/2022 23:28

They are stabbing pains in the bum region. They sort of shoot up from your errrr anus to your spine. Like you’ve sat on a javelin and it’s spiking you repeatedly.

Javelin arse is like a horrible cramp or spasm inside the rectum. You would know if you'd had it before, the pain takes your breath away!
Newbabynewhouse · 29/01/2022 23:29

Whats hapoening to our body when 'javelin arse ' happens ?

JetBlackSteed · 29/01/2022 23:29

Yes I used to get it in peri. Pain lasted about 15 seconds when pooing. Horrible pain. Pushing down through it gets it gone, but my god it's awful.
Not had it since in meno though.

Jenasaurus · 29/01/2022 23:30

I get this sometimes after orgasming, so a bitter sweet experience and can last for a few minutes

Benjispruce5 · 29/01/2022 23:30

It’s a stabbing sensation in the bum, hence a javelin up your bum is a good way to describing it. Comes out of nowadays and takes your breath away and makes you do a strange lift of said area. For me it feels like it can’t get any worse then magically subsides. It’s a bit like contractions but in your bum.

Watercoloursky · 29/01/2022 23:30

@Supersimkin2

Proctalgia fugix.

Bear down as if pooing and it eases faster.

Sounds like a particularly horrible spell in Harry Potter!
