I just think that’s very convenient is it all made up to garner sympathy. Can’t trust anything that’s said in regard to BoJo !

@Biscuitsneeded, with u there.

Also, originally it was reported that a family member tested positive, not that they were I'll with it

Which gave bojo time to choose self-isolation to contact lawyers to prepare for next appearance.

Notonthestairs · 20/01/2022 09:19

It's none of our business whether or not she has/had covid. I don't want to read anything about politicians children. They are entitled to their privacy.

But it's front page news in a newspaper owned by a well known right wing supporter/donor(Lord Rothmere) after a week of pretty terrible headlines for the PM.

It's not a public interest story - we don't need to know.

Now the PM (and many others) are very familiar with injunctions and super injunctions and so would be able to shut down any story relating to the PM's children. I can't imagine a judge refusing that application.

So given the recent headlines and timing I think the story was given to the press to create political capital.

Peregrina · 20/01/2022 09:23

Jesus, wtf is wrong with some of you. Has he announced it?? or has it probably been leaked to the gossipy press.

I don't recall your having a problem with a gossipy press when it was in Johnson's favour.

We heard that Starmer was isolating a couple of weeks back. We didn't hear, and didn't need to hear, who it was in his immediate circle who had caught Covid. With Johnson it's front page news. I think it's pretty despicable to use a six week old baby as an excuse. One who can't answer for herself. There seem to be no limits as to how low Johnson will stoop to save his skin.

Glitterspy · 20/01/2022 09:25

I hope the baby’s ok.

I hope her Dad isn’t prime minister much longer.

kittensinthekitchen · 20/01/2022 09:26

Of course I don't wish I'll on a poor wee baby. If she has been ill, I hope she's on the mend with no lingering effects. I also feel for her parents, in the way that I feel for all parents dealing with a poorly baby.

But I just doubt whether it's true.

I'm also incredibly irate that this has been leaked on the same day that Johnson has announced that YOUR children are safe from covid, and removed all safety precautions for them.

itwasntaparty · 20/01/2022 09:27

IF Romy had Covid I really hope she is recovering well.

The spin doctors are really working overtime now, what on earth are they going to come up with next? If i was Boris, I'd quit now or would have quit a few days ago, get on the money making circuit while he can.

What the fuck will happen to this country now I have no idea, there isnt a single one of them on any party that I would vote for. Maybe Sue Gray should step up!

EvilPea · 20/01/2022 09:28

More sticks to Teflon than this fella.

He’s won hasn’t he. Every fucking time his “move on” rhetoric works

SafeMove · 20/01/2022 09:32

Poor kid. 6 weeks old and already being used (either by her parents or the press but either way it's abhorrent) as political leverage. This is why I would never go into politics even though I think I would be a good MP. The impact it has on people connected to you just isn't worth it. I can't stand the man but his children, their health and their privacy needs protecting, they don't deserve to pay for his need to be the 'bog dog' Sad

'Rishi Silent But Deadly Twelve Homes Sunak' is brilliant. I will be stealing this!

SafeMove · 20/01/2022 09:33

'bog dog' was a typo but quite apt!

Samcro · 20/01/2022 09:34

tory PM uses his child to shut down debate....not the first one to do this.

Porcupineintherough · 20/01/2022 09:36

So what if she did? Lots of kids catching COVID at the moment, the reduction in restrictions suggest this isnt a problem and I doubt it caused him issues with childcare.

Zonder · 20/01/2022 09:36

Doesn't seem that long since Mogg did the same on Take your Kid to Work Day that nobody else would do even outside of covid
Cantleave · 20/01/2022 09:36

@AsYouWishButtercup

A bit like how the good news of her birth came just after the Christmas party scandal. All very convenient
Convenient!!!! Yes, maybe Carrie should have just refused to give birth when she was in labour!! Perhaps she should have just stopped her contractions?

This is Mumsnet, so presumably most members know that baby’s aren’t just born when it is convenient!

baroqueandblue · 20/01/2022 09:39

But not on this thread seemingly, where many people appear to have lost all capacity for rational thought in their haste to pour vitriol.

You've got a nerve. Calling posters here irrational so you can attempt to claim the moral high ground and defend the indefensible?

The view from your superior position must be dizzying...

Clavinova · 20/01/2022 09:40

We heard that Starmer was isolating a couple of weeks back. We didn't hear, and didn't need to hear, who it was in his immediate circle who had caught Covid.

We heard this in July -

Keir Starmer to self-isolate after one of his children tests positive for Covid.

One of Labour leader’s children tested positive on Wednesday lunchtime, spokesperson says.

Starmer was isolating because he had covid, not a family member.

It's just awful isn't it. Wtf is wrong with people. Criticise him and some on here do constantly, despite the fact we are coming out of the pandemic in a strong position, but why sneer about the fact his baby was poorly.

FindingAFish · 20/01/2022 09:49

All the clever, empathic, mature posters out in force this morning Brew Grin

onanotherday · 20/01/2022 10:02

Obviously an ill baby is sad...and if true I'm glad she is better.

But that is it...if true....when you can not trust the PM to tell the truth the game is up. He has to go, it's just a shame he doesn't have the integrity to resign...

SexTrainGlue · 20/01/2022 10:22

I wish the baby well.

But the guidelines in force at the time said that fully vaccinated household members do not need to self isolate, but should practice social distancing. There was no need for him to cancel all activities -'WFH if you can' was in place anyhow.

I think it shows that he just doesn't understand what his government lays down.

Either that or he isn't fully vaccinated

I suspect it was a convenient excuse to stay hidden.

The other worst option is that he was positive on a LFT and that’s how baby got it.

Also wishing the baby well.

Some of its father's actions have been downright unhelpful in the pandemic though.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 20/01/2022 10:47

Trouble with someone lying all the time is you don't believe them even if they are telling the truth

This! You never know what to believe

Fortunately any babies I know who’ve had it have had it mildly. Don’t think their fathers took any time off work!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 20/01/2022 10:48

I mean because their Mums were on Mat leave
