I just think that’s very convenient is it all made up to garner sympathy. Can’t trust anything that’s said in regard to BoJo !

@Clavinova

As Andrew Bridgend pointed out, its tough in politics and he thinks there is nothing wrong with saying to an MP "You will not be promoted if you don't support x or y"
He went on to say that "he has never heard of any MP being threatened with the disclosure of sensitive personal information... "

So whilst you obviously went to a lot of trouble looking for any other examples in the opposition... i'm afraid you have failed, the Cons are in Govt (apparently) your party, in other words "Get your own house in order!

Clavinova · 20/01/2022 21:15

As Andrew Bridgend pointed out

You have reminded me of this case;

May 2021
A shadow minister has quit her frontbench role after being accused of trying to intimidate a Tory MP seeking to assist a parliamentary worker who raised allegations of sexual harassment against a former Labour MP.

Kate Hollern has left her role in Sir Keir Starmer's top team after the accusations were made during an employment tribunal against Mike Hill.

The parliamentary worker accuses Mr Hill, the former Hartlepool MP, of carrying out a campaign of sexual harassment and bullying against her over a 16-month period while he was in office.

Tory MP Andrew Bridgen told the Central London Employment Tribunal yesterday that Ms Hollern made 'malicious' remarks designed to 'scare' him away from helping the woman.

In a written statement, he said he was approached by Ms Hollern in the House of Commons' terrace, who asked him for a private word away from other MPs.

He wrote that Ms Hollern told him: 'Everyone is saying in the Labour Party that you are having an affair with (Ms A) and if I were you I would keep away from her, because you have a wife and baby and you would not want to lose them if it got in the papers.'

Did Boris actually say his baby had covid or is this just assumption

Bitzandbobsbitzandbobs · 20/01/2022 21:46

It's 'Johnson', not 'Boris' or 'BoJo' or any other friendly nick name.

It was never 'Theresa' or 'Dave' so let's not afford this absolute scumbag with a friendly moniker.

Sparklingbrook · 20/01/2022 21:51

It's 'Boris' as far as I'm concerned. I am surprised it's been this far into the thread before an objection to him being called Boris has been raised.

Alexandra2001 · 20/01/2022 22:24

@Clavinova Yes and she was forced to leave her job...... so you will support anyone found to have blackmailed or threatened withdrawal of funding to be kicked out of their job too? or is that "different" ?

@Bitzandbobsbitzandbobs I use Bojo because he is a clown... its not a friendly moniker.

Smallkeys · 20/01/2022 22:25

Don’t think they are meant as friendly nicknames

Noone else just surprised that Johnson still has contact with this kid... never mind 'close contact' ?

Not really because he lives with the youngest two. Confused
kittensinthekitchen · 20/01/2022 22:32

Which is the surprise...

Is it? Ok then.
Tealightsandd · 20/01/2022 22:41

Alexander is a nicer name than Boris.

Cantleave · 21/01/2022 01:30

@Distant01

People will go to any lengths for a bit of Boris bashing, even using the health of his child and then at the same time accuse Boris of using it to gain sympathy. You're probably the same posters who wish he had died when he was ill with Covid. Some of the comments are disgusting.
I agree. I don’t like Boris, but some of these comments are appalling. It sickens me how truly vicious and nasty some members of Mumsnet are!

Well every time he opens his mouth a fecking lie falls out so it's hardly surprising if people don't believe it.

Obviously none of us have any issue with the baby, just her bloody awful father.

BintheZoflora · 21/01/2022 01:44

I would really like to think that no one would stoop so low as to lie about them or someone they live having Covid….

But Unfortunately I wouldn’t put anything past the scruffy haired ball bag at this point

mellongoose · 21/01/2022 02:41

This thread is Mumsnet at its worst and says more about the personalities of the posters than it does about Boris or his family. What sheer nastiness.

Disagree with him on policy, but leave the personal stuff in the playground.

I agree with that. Shouting sweary personal insults about his appearance and family on MN is a bit pointless.

In the case of Boris and Carrie, they’re a pair of charlatans and proven truth twisters. A lot of people are angry and frustrated, the anger is at them not their baby. Of course no one would wish her to be ill. The fact is Boris will say and do anything to save his own skin.
rrhuth · 21/01/2022 06:40

I haven't made any personal remarks on here, my issues with Johnson are political. I wish his baby well as I do anyone's.

However people are very angry with him, as he has behaved in a way that is outside what is deemed acceptable.

I am confused when people are expected to behave better towards Johnson than Johnson does towards others. This is a person with a poor record of behaviour towards his personal contacts as well as the public he is supposed to serve.

Johnson made jokes about 'operation last gasp' and we all know the remarks many deem to be racist, sexist, homophobic that he has made. People who upset people on that scale do get strong responses and I think Johnson has to deal with that.

Sparklingbrook · 21/01/2022 06:54

That’s what most people feel (away from MN anyway).

derxa · 21/01/2022 07:01

At MIL's GP surgery people have been asked to do exactly that - wait outside in their cars, or just outside in the cold, until someone fetches them in. Or alternatively have a phone consultation rather than a face to face consultation. Baby clinics and routine HV checks have been suspended during Covid in many places. Do you approve of that? Elderly people shivering outside in their cars or standing in the cold. It's the same at my GP surgery and it's a bloody disgrace.

limitedperiodonly · 21/01/2022 10:13

When did she have a Christening party

@Clavinova who knows? Johnson probably thought it was a work event and only attended for 25 minutes.

Peregrina · 21/01/2022 11:08

Of course I don't, but I was replying to Clavinova's response Like a visit to a GP surgery/baby clinic/hospital for non-Covid matters? Avoid those places? suggesting that it wasn't No 10 Party Central were the baby picked up the illness but a health care visit. Which for very many people meant no face to face visits. I don't think you can catch covid over a zoom call or a phone consultation.

Peregrina · 21/01/2022 11:12

The Christening and sweet baby pictures on the front pages will be saved for another time when Johnson is in a hole, and needs a distraction.

ecoanxiety · 21/01/2022 11:29

To he honest he could probably go on TV eating a cake and say 'I'm eating a cake' and I still wouldn't believe him.
