I just think that’s very convenient is it all made up to garner sympathy. Can’t trust anything that’s said in regard to BoJo !

Ricksteinsfishwife · 20/01/2022 10:57

Apparently she was quite Ill too. Poor thing, I’d say it’s the truth as he didn’t need to say anything about who it was.

stamina · 20/01/2022 10:57

Is this the message:
Our daughter caught Covid and was really unwell.

Now, to ensure that Johnson retains his leadership, you and your children must also catch Covid. That is why we are immediately removing the protection of masks in schools and the ability to work safely from home.

We must all accept this sacrifice for the almighty Johnson and his glorious leadership.

?

neverbeenskiing · 20/01/2022 10:58

No-one is "sneering" about a baby being ill. They are, understandably, suspicious of the timing of this story being leaked to the press. They are also pointing out that even if the baby is unwell that doesn't absolve Johnson of his crimes. That does not mean they don't feel any concern or empathy for the actual baby Hmm

The man has lied to the public, the press and the House of Commons knowingly and repeatedly. He has also used every excuse under the sun to avoid scrutiny or consequence for his actions. So of course people will smell a rat when a story that not only elicits sympathy for him, but also gives him a convenient excuse to go into hiding for a week just so happens to surface immediately following a massive scandal that is threatening to ruin him.

I wouldn't wish covid on anyone, especially a child, and if the baby has been unwell I wish them a speedy recovery. But whether this child has covid or not does not alter the facts of their Father's corruption and incompetence one jot.

stamina · 20/01/2022 10:59

We are removing the masks in schools and WFH protection for the sole purpose of Johnson appeasing the far right of the Conservative party.

When your DC bring home Covid from school or you catch it in an office, you can know it was for the benefit of Johnson

RoseAndRose · 20/01/2022 11:00

Yes, she was barely a month old, and it must have been very worrying, especially as the article says she had it 'quite badly'

But household contacts didn't need to SI at that point, they were meant to LFT daily instead but could then work as normal if test negative. Unless of course not fully vaccinated

guardiansofthegalaxychocs · 20/01/2022 11:02

This was my first thought. I don’t think it’s been made up and I feel for his little baby and any parents on a human level….but yep the ‘leaking’ of it now is 100% intended to garner sympathy.

Sartre · 20/01/2022 11:17

He’s like the boy who cried Wolf isn’t he. Nobody will ever believe a word he says again.

ChicCroissant · 20/01/2022 11:31

@EvilPea

More sticks to Teflon than this fella.

He’s won hasn’t he. Every fucking time his “move on” rhetoric works

I wrote to my (Conservative) MP about the work events/parties and said in my email that BJ should be challenged if he hides avoids the questions by his own MPs. IMO it's not just BJ who should be held to account, their actions in not challenging him are cowardly and selfish.
MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 20/01/2022 11:38

He's fatally wounded at this point but I'm happy to see Johnson limp on a bit longer. The more time he's in office the more damage is done to the Tories.

Suits me.

Clavinova · 20/01/2022 11:47

Plenty of opportunity for Keir Starmer and Wes Streeting to challenge the decision to lift restrictions.

Hehe, same. Especially with the latest twist to the saga this morning. Its like watching the season finale of House of Cards and I'm here for it 🍿
limitedperiodonly · 20/01/2022 13:15

She probably got it at her Christening party.

SummerWillow · 20/01/2022 16:23

I saw this reported a week ago or so in the Guardian and I thought how convenient as he was having to isolate. Then the story just completely disappeared and I was very puzzled!

Distant01 · 20/01/2022 16:58

People will go to any lengths for a bit of Boris bashing, even using the health of his child and then at the same time accuse Boris of using it to gain sympathy.
You're probably the same posters who wish he had died when he was ill with Covid.
Some of the comments are disgusting.

Hertsgirl10 · 20/01/2022 16:59

If anyone believes a thing that comes out of that man’s mouth, they are being unreasonable.

His baby has covid I believe as much as when he said he had it last year, and that no one told him that his parties was breaking the rules that he made and went on live tv to tell the whole UK what they can’t do 😂

Theeyeballsinthesky · 20/01/2022 17:01

Oh please! Literally no one has had anything but sympathy for the baby if they had covid

But Boris Johnson is a fucking liar who has been sacked for lying twice already & if he told me the sky was blue I’d look outside to check

There are no depths he won’t sink too ti protect his own skin. This is a man who started an affair when his wife had cancer ffs

So the idea that he would lie about his baby having covid to save his own sorry arse is totally believable

Peregrina · 20/01/2022 17:02

I am well prepared to believe that his baby daughter had Covid, but decent parents try to keep children away from people they know who are ill and might pass something on.

Clavinova · 20/01/2022 18:02

When did she have a christening party?

Like a visit to a GP surgery/baby clinic/hospital for non-Covid matters? Avoid those places?

How long is someone with Covid infectious for?
It has been clear for some time that people can be infectious from about two days before they develop symptoms.

At MIL's GP surgery people have been asked to do exactly that - wait outside in their cars, or just outside in the cold, until someone fetches them in. Or alternatively have a phone consultation rather than a face to face consultation. Baby clinics and routine HV checks have been suspended during Covid in many places.

I am surprised that you don't know about this Clavinova because it's been in the news a lot.

Clavinova · 20/01/2022 19:23

Peregrina
Baby clinics and routine HV checks have been suspended during Covid in many places.

Reported that 28% were not running early December 2021 - and criticised for that - parts of London affected.

How do you know whether or not the baby needed a hospital visit for another reason unconnected to Covid? Wouldn't Carrie and the children have a bodyguard/bodyguards as well? Do they have a nanny/contact with the housekeeper/other No.10 staff? Visits from the baby's grandparents? Does Wilfred have any playmates/contact with other children?

try to keep children away from people they know who are ill

You wouldn't keep primary schools and nurseries open then - all those coughs and colds in winter?

Alexandra2001 · 20/01/2022 19:44
We heard that Starmer was isolating a couple of weeks back. We didn't hear, and didn't need to hear, who it was in his immediate circle who had caught Covid.

We heard this in July -

Keir Starmer to self-isolate after one of his children tests positive for Covid.

One of Labour leader’s children tested positive on Wednesday lunchtime, spokesperson says.

www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jul/21/keir-starmer-to-self-isolate-after-one-of-his-children-tests-positive-for-covid
An inaccurate post, as different rules applied last July and KS had CV..... up your game.

Bojo didn't have to isolate nor did he have to release his childs medical details..

Using your child to divert attention from your work woes, is abuse, then again, blackmail and threats are illegal and against the ministerial code..... both used by team bojo to get his MPs into line.

llanfair11 · 20/01/2022 19:48

Mr Johnson's child should be entitled to privacy. As should all of his children, whether he acknowledges them or not.

My post was only in relation to whether or not Boris Johnson's baby having Covid was 'newsworthy' or not - as per the discussion at the time.

We did hear that one of Keir Starmer's children had tested posited for Covid - despite claims to the contrary. Starmer's spokesperson could have said 'a close contact'/'member of his household'.

Bojo didn't have to isolate

I didn't comment on that point.

LadyWithLapdog · 20/01/2022 20:35

Johnson is a fucking liar. I don't believe a word coming out of his mouth, whether it's about his family or politics.

September 2020
Scottish National party ministers have been the focus of a “quite remarkable” number of misconduct and bullying complaints compared with those in other parts of the UK, a civil service union leader has told an inquiry.

“The numbers of people raising concerns about the Scottish government are so significantly greater than we are aware of elsewhere that it suggests that something particular – over the longer term – has happened in the Scottish governments,”

Over 40 female Labour MPs have written to party leader Jeremy Corbyn urging him to do more to tackle abuse of MPs...

Keir Starmer did sit on Jeremy Corbyn's front bench didn't he? And he supported the idea that Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell would run the country?
