To ask what you’re doing awake post-midnight?

5YearsLeft · 12/01/2022 00:24

I had a day that just really banged me about, physically, emotionally, just all the ways, and now, I’m laying here awake and staring at the ceiling.

So why are you awake? Crying baby? Can’t stop thinking? Worried about something tomorrow? Pain somewhere in your body being an arsehole?

Welcome?

Rushhomeroad · 12/01/2022 00:27

Marking assignments 😞
I'm happy to be distracted if you want to talk about your day

PlantingTulips · 12/01/2022 00:28

I'm a night owl. I have so much to do tomorrow. 😬 I always struggle to sleep.

Missingjigsawpuzzle · 12/01/2022 00:29

I was just dragging myself off to bed after working through the eve...was aiming to be in bed for midnight but then discovered my youngest had wet the bed so I have now fallen into your post midnight category!

Pieceofpurplesky · 12/01/2022 00:29

I am a terrible sleeper and always have been. My brain never shuts down. DS is the same. I have to be out of the house by 650.
Will eventually get a couple of hours in. About once a month I sleep virtually all weekend (go to bed at 10 and do 12 hours Friday and Saturday).

DustyMaiden · 12/01/2022 00:29

Just going to bed. Early night.

Imissmoominmama · 12/01/2022 00:29

I’m really stressed, so much so that my neck really hurts and I can’t sleep.

Whitegrenache · 12/01/2022 00:30

Been to a football match and trying to wind down!

We lost 😞

Buzzer3555 · 12/01/2022 00:31

Waiting for my husband to bring my daughter home after a massive falling out with her flatmate

Grandadwasthatyou · 12/01/2022 00:32

Lying here wondering why I can't get my ex dh out of my head. We've been split up 2 years now and I now have a boyfriend but just can't help myself.

Vanuatu · 12/01/2022 00:36

I have a medical appointment tomorrow, nothing major just a B12 injection.
I hate going and never sleep beforehand. Don't even know why.

Reallycantbesarsed · 12/01/2022 00:36

Have been home since 9 .Counselling various friends, chatting on the phone, googling whether employer should inform other staff if member of staff has tested positive..am now extremely annoyed...Am now going chocolate hunting!

Floralnomad · 12/01/2022 00:36

I’m always awake at this time , generally start going to sleep about 1:30/2 , I am happy on 4/5 hours sleep .

Sparklespangle · 12/01/2022 00:39

Literally the only time all day I get to myself. Kids in bed, dp in bed. I'm having a drink and finishing motherland.

Enough4me · 12/01/2022 00:40

I'm a night owl / short sleeper. Even Covid exhaustion doesn't make an impact. I'll be up before 7.

DramaAlpaca · 12/01/2022 00:41

I'm almost always still up at this hour. I normally go to bed between 1 & 2am. Classic night owl. If I could go along with my natural body clock I'd go to bed around 3 or 4am and be up before midday, but sadly my employer wouldn't be too impressed with me.

MajorNeville · 12/01/2022 00:42

I pretty much am always awake at this time. There's always an excuse... tonight, I can't be carded to take my contacts out, so here I am!! Lol

5YearsLeft · 12/01/2022 00:42

@Toomanyradishes Oh gosh, I’m so sorry to hear about the coughing. There’s nothing more annoying than when you’re trying to get to sleep and then… another one sneaks up on you! The bastards.

@Rushhomeroad Bless you for taking the time to mark assignments. I’m sure it’s super bloody thankless sometimes, but where would we be if no one did it. Oh, it’s kind of a long bizarre story. I’m dying and I got divorced today. I’m still living with my husband, he still loves me, he’s still planning to take care of me until I pass on, but I now have permanent residency in the country we’re in and by divorcing me, he can marry my best friend and give her residency. Anyway, the judge wanted to ask questions because on paper it looks like he’s been too generous with sharing his salary (he wanted me to understand that he’s not ever leaving and this way it’s ironclad that he couldn’t pay rent without me anyway), but not generous enough with his pension (until we explained I’m dying, and then the judge looked at me with a super sad face, and it was all just awful). So yeah. Afterwards, I took some photos of flowers then came home and threw up. Life, eh?

@PlantingTulips Oh, that must be difficult! Do you have to still work regular day hours despite fighting against being normally a night person? My husband is also normally nocturnal; if we just left him alone, that’s how his body clock would set, I think.

@Missingjigsawpuzzle Oh no! Talk about a terrible surprise!

@Pieceofpurplesky Oh gosh, that must be so tough on the both of you. I do really wish we could move to the future where jobs worked around more than one type of circadian rhythm.

@Imissmoominmama Neck aches are so annoying! Have you tried putting anything warm on it, even a heated towel? That can help it relax.

@Whitegrenache Ah, rotten luck!

@Buzzer3555 Eek, and then I imagine you’ll be up later hearing about the massive falling out.

@Grandadwasthatyou Hmm. Maybe it’s just unfinished business, if you know he was bad for you? Sometimes we just need closure, and then we can let it go.

@Vanuatu My grandmother had terrible “white coat syndrome” - didn’t matter what kind of doctor, just seeing any of them stressed her. I know a lot of people feel that way, so I’m sure you’re not alone. I hope it goes well!

First night at home with newborn who hasn't yet figured out that night times are for sleeping. And I just dropped a piece of chocolate on her head which she wasn't very impressed by....

ShinyHappyPoster · 12/01/2022 00:43

I had a migraine earlier so had a nap at 5pm and now I'm wide awake. I've been feeling anxious and overwhelmed but don't really know why. I lost my parent a month ago and I think I'm just feeling a bit fragile.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 12/01/2022 00:43

Night owl, but also I have a skin condition that keeps me awake

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 12/01/2022 00:43

Same, my body clock seems to be set recently to bed at 2am Then my alarm goes off at 7 and I wonder why I'm always tired HmmGrin
Stripyhoglets1 · 12/01/2022 00:44

Reading some information online for work tomorrow.

I should now be going to bed to get up early and do the rest of the work tomorrow.

MrsMonkeyBear · 12/01/2022 00:45

I'm all out of sorts after having my booster yesterday.

Went to bed at 7pm and work up shortly before 12am. I'm just waiting on the paracetamol kicking in so I can go to sleep again.
