To think this card is grim and not appropriate in a shop where children can see it?

Just that really.

Went into Scribbler to get a birthday card DS10 was with me and saw this. I thought it was grim and shouldn’t be on view in a high street shop where children can see it.

There are tons of really rude cards in the Scribbler near me. I just assumed that this was the general theme in that particular store 🤷🏻‍♀️

mrstea301 · 07/01/2022 18:12

Are scribbler not known for 'controversial' cards though? My friend used to work there and said that the really controversial ones always sold out immediately!

I don't think every single shop has to tend to the needs of children only, I wouldn't generally expect children to be spending loads of time in card shops - it's not as if it's a toy shop!

Lipsandlashes · 07/01/2022 18:13

That’s the theme of Scribbler. I wouldn’t take my kids in there to look for a card.

PepsiArcade · 07/01/2022 18:13

Scribbler is known for having a lot of rude cards though. Don’t take your kids in there if you don’t want them to read them.

Rainallnight · 07/01/2022 18:13

Vile.

GirlInACountrySong · 07/01/2022 18:14

@Rainallnight

Vile.
true though!!

Yes, I always thought it was a card shop for teens & adults.
Etinoxaurus · 07/01/2022 18:15

I ripped a rude card up in Tesco’s once 😬
Scribblers is different though.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 07/01/2022 18:15

It's the whole thing there. Parenting fail, the shop isn't to blame.

BitcherOfBlakiven · 07/01/2022 18:15

It’s vile yes but that’s what they’re known for.

Parenting fail I’m afraid.

RealHousewifeOfEastLondon · 07/01/2022 18:16

I wouldn't take a child in to Scribbler. Precisely for the reason that I would go in there to purchase rude cards 😜

WorraLiberty · 07/01/2022 18:16

If kids don't know what sex is then it won't affect them.

If they do know what sex is, how is knowing some people have anal sex going to affect them?

flippertyop · 07/01/2022 18:16

Parent fail

Momicrone · 07/01/2022 18:16

Yeah I stopped going in scribbler with the kids a long time ago. I mean what's not to love about a card about bum sex?

myyellowcar · 07/01/2022 18:17

Give over, I didn’t know they had physical shops but cards like the one you’ve linked are basically the whole scribbler brand.

melj1213 · 07/01/2022 18:19

YABVU to take your child into Scribbler and then complain about Scribbler products considering their entire USP is to have vulgar/inappropriate/NSFW type cards.

samwitwicky · 07/01/2022 18:19

Never even heard of Scribbler

NoSquirrels · 07/01/2022 18:19

I can see why you’d be embarrassed that DS saw it - explaining anal sex to a 10-yr-old is no one’s idea of fun parenting.

But it’s a funny card! And you took him in the shop.

I can’t get too worked up about this.

ilovesooty · 07/01/2022 18:21

If you didn't want your child to see sexually explicit cards you shouldn't have taken him in.

On another note : is "grim" used to describe everything people don't like now!

FangsForTheMemory · 07/01/2022 18:21

Thanks for posting a photo of it so that all of us can see it, OP!
Grin

Butchyrestingface · 07/01/2022 18:22

I wouldn't take a child into a Scribbler shop. I wouldn't take them into an adult sex shop either and then complain when they copped a load of a whip and nipple tassels.

WorraLiberty · 07/01/2022 18:23

What card did you actually buy, OP?

Fuckitydoodah · 07/01/2022 18:23

I must be vulgar because I think it's funny, and would send to certain friends. However, I wouldn't particularly want my DC to see it.

I've had to hide the 'Birthday Cat says Fuck Off' card I recently received. Grin

TheFlis12345 · 07/01/2022 18:23

I have given that card to a few friends Grin They have clear warning signs all over the shelves in Scribbler that say many cards have adult themes and are not suitable for children.

MondayYogurt · 07/01/2022 18:23

I keep expecting to see a birthday card in Scribbler that just says I HATE YOU AND I WANT YOU TO DIE
