To think this card is grim and not appropriate in a shop where children can see it?

Just that really.

Went into Scribbler to get a birthday card DS10 was with me and saw this. I thought it was grim and shouldn’t be on view in a high street shop where children can see it.

Wow I’d have no idea Scribbler was that demographic. But I’m envisioning a shop presented like Smiggle 😄

Glassisalwaysgreener · 07/01/2022 18:26

Ok - I actually didn’t know this was the shop’s USP. I thought it was just a card shop like Paperchase so hardly a parenting fail! Will obviously not go in there again and leave it to those of you who find that kind of thing funny. Thanks for replies.

That's grim. Who buys cards like that? Bleurgh.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 07/01/2022 18:29

Vom, disgusting card and not funny imo. Glad I read this though as hadn't heard of Scribbler and now know to avoid.

@Etinoxaurus

I ripped a rude card up in Tesco’s once 😬 Scribblers is different though.
I need more details about this 😂
CinstonWhurchill · 07/01/2022 18:32

FGS! You are not only being unreasonable... you are being ridiculous!

Have an age appropriate conversation with your child, should they observe/question these things.

The world of retail and consumerism cannot solely revolve around your child.

You did what?
Powpw7654 · 07/01/2022 18:32

Your kids would have worse things in the school ground.

ilovesooty · 07/01/2022 18:33

@Etinoxaurus I hope they made you pay for it.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 07/01/2022 18:38

I thought it was funny

Why would anyone rip up a card in tesco , bizarre

PurpleRainlnTheSky · 07/01/2022 18:39

YANBU. It's horrible.

Snugglepumpkin · 07/01/2022 18:40

I've never heard of this card shop before so doubt there is one in my nearest city centre.

Do they have a warning on the door or are you just supposed to know they are not suitable for kids?

Cue everyone thinking it's vile being called 'prudish' and being accused of having no sense of humour. No only is the cards in the OP vulgar and horrible, it's also not funny.
chaosrabbitland · 07/01/2022 18:42

iv never heard of scribbler let alone been in one , but the card is crude and unfunny , if someone sent me that it would be ripped up and in the bin , thankfully no one would as my mates know me well and it would be a nice bunny or countryside sort of card , at least i hope so lol

ugh! people like this exist??
PurpleRainlnTheSky · 07/01/2022 18:42

Whoops, not paying attention. Last sentence should be

'Not only is the card in the OP vulgar and horrible, it's also not funny.'

escapingthecity · 07/01/2022 18:43

I once complained about the cards in there - I was offended, not for my kids! - and got such a rude response that I've never shopped in there since.

Sounds like a horrid shop. I will never go in there.

Why would you complain instead of simply leaving
Etinoxaurus · 07/01/2022 18:45

No one saw me, I was up for a scrap over it though. I’ll see if I can find it.

TurkeyRoastvBubbleandSqueek · 07/01/2022 18:45

@samwitwicky

Never even heard of Scribbler
Same here *@samwitwicky* So for people like us, surely it should have a very noticeable warning on the outside of the shop, or at least call it an 'adult card shop'?

goawaystormy · 07/01/2022 18:46

@Etinoxaurus I hope you paid for it, if not that's stealing. Just because something isn't to your taste doesn't mean you can go around destroying it Hmm

@PurpleRainlnTheSky

You're not a prude for finding it unfunny, people's humour differs. You are a prude if you think it's vulgar or horrible and no one should make them.
