To hate cats

They keep shitting in my front garden. We have gravel down (not our choice - old owners and can't afford to change)
We live in a classic Victorian Terrance in SW London. There are cats everywhere but we keep getting crap by our bins at the front. I know gravel doesn't help but what can I do? It's driving me nuts. Ughhhhh

Shits in my garden and I have to clean it up which isn’t a good thing to do pregnant and I hate her already so don’t feel particularly obliging about it. It also sits on my shed taunting my dog. We have foxes too so all kind of shit everywhere. 🤢🥲

Dogs chase small furries including cats. If you let your cat out loose then you can't complain if it gets chased by a dog in it's own garden for example.

My dog will kill any cat that’s stupid enough to come into her garden.

Gravel is basically kitty litter so a big shitting box for them.

The hate is ridiculous. For some its almost psychotic. Loads of humane solutions on here. No need to go all psycho.

Animals shit. We are sharing our small spaces with various wildlife and also domesticated animals - dogs and cats.

I've skimmed a few times and am that I haven't read a comment alluding to the myth about cats burying their poo yet.

Love cats beautiful looking animals but I hate cat shit which is why I don't have one.

I hated cats. My DH & DD persuaded me to get one and I bloody love him.

Now I just hate other people's cats.

Thousands of years of breeding means mine isn’t. She’s absolutely useless for anything but cuddles and catching and killing small furry animals.

I do love when people say but cats don’t just leave poop on the top they burry it or when people say oh but it’s more likely to be a fox how do you know?!

As a cat owner and cctv owner I’m yet to see a cat do such and not just squat poop and move on.

I wonder if maybe a boy vs girl cat thing. My girly cats use the litter trays and hide they poop to the extent of scratching the walls! The cats I’ve seen in my garden are toms squatting and going.

From my observations people that don't like cats always have something not particularly nice/have odd character traits about them.

We live on common and quite often there's dogshit outside a couple of our outbuildings, which is a complete PITA especially in the dark, BUT i have never hated dogs because of it.

If all we had in this country were wildcats I would grumble to myself and get on with my day.

But when the reason I’m constantly unearthing cat shit in my garden is because I’m surrounded by people who are buying them and bringing them here as their possessions, but then letting them roam around and shit in their neighbours gardens, I do feel that it’s fair to feel pissed off about it.

Basically if you own a cat that wanders around your neighbourhood shitting everywhere, don’t you dare complain about any of your neighbours being antisocial with noise, parking or whatever (or at least don’t complain without being aware of your hypocrisy and the nuisance that you’re causing them).

This is true. People who don't like animals are usually either abnormally low in empathy, and/or had a weird upbringing with little exposure or understanding about animals.

I love animals. I do not like cats. I don’t like cat owners who let their cats shit in my garden, but actually that’s not the cat’s fault. I don’t like cats because I don’t know where I stand with them. It’s not fun to pet something which randomly turns and bites you, having been happily enjoying the petting a moment before 🤷🏻‍♀️

I like wherever it is in Australia that has laws about roaming cats. I also feel that a lot of the community pages around me are about cats being run over and how awful it is people don’t stop etc so maybe they should be kept in or people who get cats should have a catio installed etc.

I don’t hate cats just their poo and think that there are just so many of them now same as dogs

@MidnightMeltdown - it’s quite possible to love animals whilst not wanting to possess them or domesticate them.

When people insist on doing that they become responsible for that animal, and for what it does. They have introduced it into an environment, if it creates problems that is entirely on them.

No, I've multiple cats of both sex, and the genuinely do bury all their poo, in the garden borders or in their litter boxes. One of them often gives the impression she's trying to dig down to Australia sometimes.
