To hate the matching PJs trend

Alysskea · 28/12/2021 10:46

Every post on my social media and messages from friends has featured an entire family, usually of primarily grown adults, wearing matching Christmas pyjamas.

Where did this come from???? Why is it suddenly a thing??? Why do we all have to see the pictures?

If you hate it, don't do it, why do you care so much what other people do that doesn't affect you in the slightest!

We'd freak you out more, we wear our birthday suits to bed. Fortunately for everyone else, we don't 'do' social media!!

SoniaFouler · 28/12/2021 10:49

It’s a good thing it’s not the law that you have to wear them then, isn’t it?

BurningTheClocks · 28/12/2021 10:50

It seem to be an American idea that’s become a thing over here.
I think it’s daft, but it gives a number of friends a great deal of pleasure to appear like a set of matryoshka dolls, so I smile and scroll on.

purplemunkey · 28/12/2021 10:51

I can’t imagine caring enough about this to be annoyed. Maybe take some time off social media.

TheFuckingDogs · 28/12/2021 10:51

It is a weird trend, obviously each to their own but definitely a new social norm created entirely for an Insta/SM world same as the elf

EishetChayil · 28/12/2021 10:51

As with every fucking dumb trend swirling around, it's American.

Flame me. I don't care. It's true.

ForensicFlossy · 28/12/2021 10:52

YANBU

DivanInspiration · 28/12/2021 10:53

Yes it’s an American thing. YANBU I hate it too. So twee.

bizboz · 28/12/2021 10:54

Yanbu. I roll my eyes but just scroll past.

MajorCarolDanvers · 28/12/2021 10:56

I think it's hilarious.

Would do it myself but most entertained by those who are game to post.

MajorCarolDanvers · 28/12/2021 10:56

Wouldn't

Mrsmch123 · 28/12/2021 10:56

Don't do it then....maybe people hate some things that you do/post?

LibrariesGiveUsPower · 28/12/2021 10:57

YABU. If it makes them happy who cares!

Lou98 · 28/12/2021 10:57

Why do we all have to see the pictures?

You don't have to - you choose to use Social Media. There's always going to be stuff others don't like, just scroll past and don't give it a second thought.

We wore matching PJs this year, we personally never posted any photos (or even took any) but that's just because we don't really post on SM. I can't imagine getting worked up about what others wear to bed

SickAndTiredAgain · 28/12/2021 10:57

Where did this come from????

Shops realising they can sell new (overpriced) pyjamas every year to adults who would never normally buy pjs that would only be worn for a week or two, but will if their two year old is wearing the same thing.

LagunaBubbles · 28/12/2021 10:57

Why do we all have toseethe pictures?

People can post what they like on their own social media even if you don't seem to think so! Hmm

I think its cheesy but I cant ever really see myself caring what others wear either..

RumJerrySailorRum · 28/12/2021 10:58

I love pj's and I love Christmas so if I had a family to wear them with I'd be all over it.

But, it's just me, DH and the dog. Neither of whom wear them. So I just get Xmas pj's for one.

Cam2020 · 28/12/2021 10:59

Time for a SM hiatus?

DrawABath · 28/12/2021 10:59

I do have matching pjs, only me and my daughter though, and I bought them because she was 3 and I knew it would make her incredibly happy to match with me, which it did. I don't post photos on social media though, that does go through me a bit. I wouldn't want a big family all matching, be a right pain to work out what belongs to who after the wash.

WorraLiberty · 28/12/2021 11:00

Every post?

WouldIBeATwat · 28/12/2021 11:02

We have matching pjs at Xmas, not Xmas themed (last year we had Top Gun ones) and we don’t post pics on social media. They’re still being worn. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Livebythecoast · 28/12/2021 11:03

Yes, it's very American. Mum, Dad, kids, dog, cat, hamster, all dressed the same in front of the beautifully decorated Christmas tree.

Not my taste but each to their own I say.

Sunset999 · 28/12/2021 11:03

Love to see little kids / siblings in matching mine would have when little but entire families, absolutely hate this !!!!!

MoiraNotRuby · 28/12/2021 11:03

It does seem wasteful. But then again I only ever get the DC new PJs on Christmas Eve, or if they have a sleepover to go to and none that properly fit. Now that DS is taller than me, I have the ones he has grown out of as my 'new' ones.

Rosewaterblossom · 28/12/2021 11:10

Isn't it a Kardashian thing? They all wear matching Christmas pj's and do a family photo.
