To not wait for PCR Result?

Lividlavidacoco · 19/12/2021 06:10

DS and I both had colds this week and because he was coughing and had a slight temp (37.9) we both needed PCR’s. For clarity though, we are very confident the tests will be negative, we’ve both had stuffy noses and sore throats so it’s just a cold.

We went to a drive through test centre at 9am on Thursday, it’s now Sunday and we still don’t have our results. It’s been a nightmare because we had lovely Christmassy plans this weekend we’ve had to miss and we’re all gutted.

Firstly, is there somewhere we can contact to check the status of our tests?

Secondly, the dog desperately needs a walk. WIBU to take the dog out tonight at midnight when no one else will be up in the field?

Also to add I’m double vaxxed and I had covid in Oct 2020.

They should have told you at the test centre to contact 119 if you haven’t had results within 24 hrs. Call and see if they can trace your results.

ShirleyPhallus · 19/12/2021 06:17

Have you still got the cards that were inside the packs that have the barcodes for the tests? You should be able to call up and get the results

Yes walk the dog

One of the main symptoms of Omicron is a stuffy nose. So it’s probably worth following up.

I only know this as my husband seems to be very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of Covid.

BirdyBirdyTweetTweet · 19/12/2021 06:19

From experience, you have to wait 72 hours before they'll do anything. I rang at 72 (119) and they contacted the test centre who said they'd got the test but not the results. I was then told to wait another 72 while they opened an investigation.

I was fed up by the end of the first 72 that I booked another PCR and the results came back the same day.

devildeepbluesea · 19/12/2021 06:24

I had a cold and 3 X neg LFTs. It was covid.

But yes, walk the dog.

Lividlavidacoco · 19/12/2021 06:28

On the phone to 119 now. The hold music has just randomly stopped though and the line is completely silent, is that normal?

My friend just had a stuffy nose and lateral flow was negative but due to positive contact she took PCR and it was positive so you really can’t know it’s just a cold sadly as she thought that and ended up spreading it for the first couple of days. However yes I would walk your dog if you aren’t likely to see anyone x

tangyandsalty · 19/12/2021 06:44

You don't know it's a cold, In fact most people these days seem to have cold symptoms. I wouldn't be worried about walking the dog but I wouldn't take dc to crowded places and risk infecting others the week before Christmas, that's just shitty.

Lividlavidacoco · 19/12/2021 06:49

Yeah we’ve been isolating since we came down with stuffy noses and got PCR’s straight away, we’re very careful as a family.

So I’ve just spoken to 119. They have found my test has been registered and there’s a result but they can’t tell me the result until I’ve been waiting 72 hours... I’m on 69 hours Confused

I have had cold symptoms just like yours all week, and negative lateral flows every day. Triple vaccinated. PCR has come back positive, and several days in lateral flows are now positive too. The symptoms are now often identical to cold symptoms, and it can take a few days for LF to be positive. I know a lot of other people who are similar.

Coffeeneedednow · 19/12/2021 06:52

It says on the NHS website that you ahould call if you haven't had your results by day 6.

Moolia · 19/12/2021 06:53

Oh well not long to wait then.

And agree with the above that there's no way to tell if its a cold or covid. Otherwise no one would need to bother testing.

The top 5 symptoms are:

Runny nose

Headache

Fatigue (mild or severe)

Sneezing

Sore throat

So...just like your symptoms.

BobbieT1999 · 19/12/2021 06:56

You can walk the dog in the evening when no one is around.
Call again in few hours and continue to isolate til you get a negative result

GoodnightGrandma · 19/12/2021 06:56

Yes, walk the dog

TwoMuchTwoYoung · 19/12/2021 06:57

So you haven’t walked the dog since Thursday?

Toastmost · 19/12/2021 06:58

Oh ffs, if its right there in front of them what a waste of everyone's time not to just tell you.
MaverickSnoopy · 19/12/2021 07:00

119 is open from 7am so maybe disconnect and restart the call, but yes chase up.

Also you can get covid more than once, an awful lot of people have. And we now have Omicron which mostly evades previous immunity (even within 90 days). Also, your symptoms could easily be covid so personally I would stay in.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 19/12/2021 07:00

God take the dog out, even if it is Covid a dog walk in a remote empty place won’t hurt

SkyLarkDescending · 19/12/2021 07:15

Yes walk the dog.

Then book another PCR test.

Our result never came back last week. The response from 119 was 'this happens sometimes, I'm sorry'. So it got lost basically! We booked another test and had results within 24 hrs.

actiongirl1978 · 19/12/2021 07:20

Walk the dog.

Lividlavidacoco · 19/12/2021 07:25

No. He does have a dog Walker who takes him out for us during the week, thanks for the incredibly judgy tone despite us LEGALLY NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE HOUSE.

He was walked Thursday and Friday by the dog Walker (handover at the gate so dog ran to her, we didn’t go near her), wasn’t walked yesterday. This is why I’m asking if I can break the law to walk him today considering how long we’ve been waiting for PCR results.

Wind your neck in.

I've waited since last Monday for mine. System inundated.

Rang 119 - an hours wait - no help. Young man didn't seem to know how to access the results or what the different bar codes were.
He suggested I send for another text.

Tried the enquiry webpage as suggested by 119 - crashed.

Country will be at a standstill while people wait for results.
