Christmas bonuses-do you get one?

If you do get a Christmas bonus, what job do you do and how much do you get-enough to put in the pool you've always wanted or a gym membership like National Lampoon?Grin🎄 I've never had one as the NHS didn't value us. Well, unless a slightly shorter shift at Christmas counts. That 15 minutes made such a difference Hmm

I work in recruitment and we get a £1k bonus and love to shop vouchers (anything from £100-£250)

DockOTheBay · 16/12/2021 18:17

@MissyB1

I work in a school, Christmas bonus???!! What’s one of those??Grin
We used to get a bottle of wine from the headteacher at Christmas when I was a teacher.

I'm self employed now so I don't get a bonus but sometimes my clients get me a little something

Exhausteddog · 16/12/2021 18:17

I work in a creative sector on fairly low pay with not much scope for progression.
I get probably £300-500 bonus and a couple of boxes of chocolates from customers, which im quite happy with.

MrsDThomas · 16/12/2021 18:17

I don’t think the tax payer would appreciate me receiving a cash bonus seeing I work i public service

JaninaDuszejko · 16/12/2021 18:18

We get our bonus in the summer, about 2-3% of our salary. I'd rather it was added to our payrise. DH gets the odd random bonus but is public sector so his very generous pension is worth far more than a bonus once a year.

Tabbacus · 16/12/2021 18:18

Also people say about bonuses and the public sector but annual bonuses aren't overly unheard of in the civil service at least.

Whaleandsnail6 · 16/12/2021 18:20

No. I'm a nurse in private sector. Used to get £20 voucher, which then turned into a box of biscuits for the past couple of years. Got a Christmas card this year thanking us for our hard work.

ShonkyWonkyDonkey · 16/12/2021 18:20

A Maltese reindeer, those ones the size of a Freddo!

NameChangeCity123 · 16/12/2021 18:21

I'm an area manager for a charity and none of us get anything AngryEnvy

PicaK · 16/12/2021 18:23

Well you might not get a bonus in the nhs but usually you get paid for every hour you work.
That's something A lot of workers who get bonus dont.so swings and roundabouts.
Plus when you're not in work eg holidays, you often don't come back to all the work that's accumulated in your absence.

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 16/12/2021 18:23

@Kshhuxnxk

No bonus. I work for a social enterprise so every penny is counted. Teachers and NHS you sound as if you're hard done by - I would like to think none of my tax and insurance was going towards staff bonuses You're not exactly on MW are you!
NHS admin is not a great deal more than minimum wage let me tell you!

Oh I wish this was true 😂
mooloop · 16/12/2021 18:24

I'm a solicitor. I got 10% of my salary this year (which is the best it's ever been).

Soubriquet · 16/12/2021 18:26

Big chain supermarket…last year I got £5.

The year before I got a staff breakfast at work.

This year….nothing

daisypond · 16/12/2021 18:28

No, I’ve never had a job where there were bonuses, Christmas or any other time. Private sector.

Soubriquet · 16/12/2021 18:30

@converseandjeans

orangesarenottheonlyfruit

DH - financial trading between 200-300k.

If that's the bonus what is the salary?!

The fuck!!!!
Hemingwayscatz · 16/12/2021 18:31

DH does, he’s a structural engineer.’

blissfulllife · 16/12/2021 18:31

Dh boss sent an email last week congratulating everyone on their hard work through the pandemic ( truck parts for big supermarkets) and told how the company have made such and such profit. Two new depots opening creating more jobs. Great. The bonus...tin of biscuits!. They've been working extra hours for no pay to keep the company afloat and the trucks rolling so the country had food etc. and they got a tin of 3 quid biscuits. No one took them.

'The NHS does not value us.' Get over yourself! Take the time to compare the benefits you get to those outside of the public sector (pension, holidays, over time, staff discounts etc etc). Then consider whether you are not valued.
gogohm · 16/12/2021 18:41

I'm in not for profit so no, extra day off though! Dp organised hampers for staff but bonuses are paid on annual profits as of end of March so May usually, he gets 10% of the profits, 5x my annual salary last year

Once the increase to minimum wage comes in in April, NHS staff on the botttom of band 2 will be earning a massive £0.01/hour over minimum wage...absolutely raking it in aren't they?

Fucks sake

PizzaCrust · 16/12/2021 18:44

Yes. Some credit to spend with the company (retail) and some money into my bank account the next pay as a cash bonus. Not huge amounts like some people get but still a nice gesture Smile

babouchette · 16/12/2021 18:44

I get a bonus at the end of March each year. We get a gift voucher at Christmas.

Bullshit. You really have no idea what it's like to work in the NHS do you.
Inmypjsagain · 16/12/2021 18:49

Law firm and no bonus for us!

Very envious of those with bonuses, enjoy 😊
