Christmas bonuses-do you get one?

If you do get a Christmas bonus, what job do you do and how much do you get-enough to put in the pool you've always wanted or a gym membership like National Lampoon?Grin🎄 I've never had one as the NHS didn't value us. Well, unless a slightly shorter shift at Christmas counts. That 15 minutes made such a difference Hmm

No, but then I'm a University Lecturer so not exactly expected!

My son got a £10 bonus from his weekend newsagent job this week!

EllaVaNight · 19/12/2021 17:21

dustandfluf I agree!

RuthW · 19/12/2021 17:41

£100 worth of vouchers.

Eaumyword · 19/12/2021 17:50

Work in a school. I got a vulgar gold empty cork topped jar from B&M as my Xmas gift from all the teachers (everyone else got Prosecco but I don't drink so they thought I would like this more apparently!) HmmXmas Grin
My DS fared better-he got wonderful boxed Moet&Chandon champagne to share with family from his Saturday job. I thought that was really, really lovely. He was so excited to show us.

I’m a nanny. I got £2.5k last year but haven’t finished work yet this year but hoping for the same.

Proudboomer · 19/12/2021 19:15

I work in retail and got a £10 in store voucher which really is only £8 as you are not allowed to use your staff discount when you spend it. We also had 3 days of 30% staff discount instead of our usual 20%.
Last year we didn’t even get that so I suppose it is better than nothing plus part of our pay rise negotiations this year included them shutting Boxing Day so at least we get a decent 2 day break but I still have to work until 10pm Christmas Eve as the manager has refused to bring the shift forward which previous managers have always done.

Taught in a university (now in last year till retirement). Most I ever received was £40. past several years, nothing but an email from senior management asking us to take a survey, think about some strategic initiative or another. In the past, Christmas party that we had to pay £40 a head for, plus drink costs, but nothing the past couple years due to COVID. Pension will be decimated, and if we are lucky and strike, we might get a 1 percent pay rise. A third of my colleagues in my school got COVID from teaching face to face, and some now have long COVID. Glad I am retiring.

I did love the Xmas bonus for the brief time I worked.private sector. And great gift. Sigh. But been public sector a long time now.

My best friends Xmas bonus this year was approximately the same as my house is worth 😳😳

ballroompink · 19/12/2021 19:49

I work for a charity so no. Last year we had an exceptional year under difficult circumstances and we all got a £50 voucher of our choosing. We do however shut down over Christmas so I never work after 23rd December until the new year.

NextChristmas · 19/12/2021 19:55

No Christmas bonus. We get ours in October. We do get a "free" day of annual leave at Christmas though which is a bonus!

MoniJitchell · 19/12/2021 20:42

Work in the finance department of a telecoms company. Bonus this year is 5% of annual salary, works out about 2k for me.

worriedatthemoment · 19/12/2021 20:48

£250 before tax admin for a large company , prob works out £180
Not loads but better than nothing at all

Madbadandusuallysad · 19/12/2021 21:23

I get £20 at Christmas added into my wage. I work in a pharmacy.

Gothisway · 19/12/2021 21:30

I’m NHS. We got a box of sweets 😁

Samsunie · 19/12/2021 21:32

I got a 3k Christmas bonus, £50 amazon voucher, 2.5wks off and a 5% payrise in Jan. Very pleased with that lot.

I work in construction and I don't think a lot of people (especially women) realise how well paid it is compared to other professional careers.

MrsJBaptiste · 19/12/2021 21:50

University Admin - no bonus in money but 4extra days annual leave for a goodwill gesture 👍
