Christmas bonuses-do you get one?

If you do get a Christmas bonus, what job do you do and how much do you get-enough to put in the pool you've always wanted or a gym membership like National Lampoon?Grin🎄 I've never had one as the NHS didn't value us. Well, unless a slightly shorter shift at Christmas counts. That 15 minutes made such a difference Hmm

No. Self employed

Ljmumun · 16/12/2021 23:47

NHS so no bouns, husband teacher no bouns. Pension well will have to work further 13 year to get that if national pension age rises again. Not sure if I can cope with days on my feet at 68.So it's not an amazing bonus either. Annual leave need to carry yet another 90 hours next year as I can't take it due to lack of staff. The band 5 just resigned to work in asda management, better pay similar hours a day they loved her people skills. Oh and she won't be had up in coroners court if something goes wrong due to lack.of staff. Had a bad day can you tell!

Justananimalcrossing · 17/12/2021 00:03

Retail. No bonus.

It's eye opening to see some Christmas bonuses would take me 25+ years to earn.
I should of worked harder in school 🤣

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 17/12/2021 00:04

Nope. We do get an allowance for dinner or whatever, used to be about £60pp now it's £30. That might cover the cost of me getting to a central location as our team is about 60 strong and spread across the country. I guess we could meet up in the station and have whatever fast food there is to offer!

(I do get a fairly decent annual bonus, although even that could be better. My company has recorded record profits over the past couple of years, but clearly the hoi polloi like myself don't get the big bucks!)

kingprincess · 17/12/2021 00:04

LOL AS IF! Haven't had so much as a 10p pay raise in 2 years either. Got a bottle of Prosecco as xmas bonus 🤮

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 17/12/2021 00:04

No, civil service. Nothing for us. We’re not even allowed tea bags.

kingprincess · 17/12/2021 00:06

I went from NHS to education. Not hard to predict who would be on team no bonus on this thread!

kingprincess · 17/12/2021 00:08

@littleowls83 ❤️

kingprincess · 17/12/2021 00:10

I do genuinely love my job, wouldn't do it if I didn't. However the pay is terrible and I do wonder how anyone can afford to live on it. I only can because my partner earns a decent wage.

Daisychainsandglitter · 17/12/2021 05:43

No we get paid an annual bonus in March.

Wejustdontknow · 17/12/2021 05:52

I work for asda, we get our bonus in feb. It’s not based on personal performance but the performance of the store based on a few factors. Last year I got around £500. At Christmas we always get a goody bag of chocolates/sweets. Would normally have Christmas parties with raffle prizes but the party is cancelled this year but every colleague has still been given raffle tickets for a free draw, there are 50 prizes ranging from gift sets to toys to electronics like microwave then 3 large food hamper prizes. We also get a fair few weeks of double discount giving 20% off everything store so i don’t think that’s bad for an unskilled nmw job

Atmywitsend29 · 17/12/2021 05:59

Haven't read all comments.

I work in healthcare. No bonus for us. They've very graciously offered us an extra few pennies an hour as an "incentive" to pick up overtime over the Christmas period Xmas Hmm

catnidge · 17/12/2021 06:06

@PicaK, seriously, you must be making some kind of shit, unfunny joke. DC s a medic, do you seriously believe they clock off at the end of a shift regardless of what state patients are in?
Am astounded at your ignorance

catnidge · 17/12/2021 06:09

Some of you get lovely bonuses.
We don't get a bonus but we have staff Advent calendar and some treats which are much appreciated. (school).
I love any gifts or cards from the children and their famillies, they are a great bonus.

DiamondBright · 17/12/2021 06:26

@PicaK

Well you might not get a bonus in the nhs but usually you get paid for every hour you work. That's something A lot of workers who get bonus dont.so swings and roundabouts. Plus when you're not in work eg holidays, you often don't come back to all the work that's accumulated in your absence.
😂

When I worked for BT residential customer accounts, back in the 90's we once got a Box of Biscuits for Cheese per team. There were 6 people in each team! Later on they were much better, when I left in the Noughties they were giving £12 each towards a Christmas meal. But nothing if you couldn't go on it. Generous they were not!

NotAnotherCrapHamper · 17/12/2021 07:06

Yes but I own the company
My user name tells you what my DH got!

DinosApple · 17/12/2021 07:27

Haha. No bonus, I work in a school. I did get a Christmas dinner when the kids had theirs - but I think the head very kindly paid for that.

When I worked for a small company we generally got a bottle of wine and a Christmas meal out which was really nice.

I got a bonus when I was an office junior in a large accountancy firm, but that was 20 years ago and around £100, there was a Christmas meal and party too.

Teethhelp · 17/12/2021 07:34

Charity sector, we typically get half a day off.

This year they've given us the whole day off on Christmas eve. And I am ever so grateful

johnstownflood · 17/12/2021 07:48

My Company has made huge profits during the pandemic and I will get an extra months salary in my December pay. Told not to expect it every year tho !

dustandfluf · 17/12/2021 07:59

@PugInTheHouse

I work for the NHS so no bonus but I don't understand why anyone would complain about not getting one, as if we would want tax payers (me included) money going towards bonuses. Annual leave entitlement is very good, pension is one of the best. My team is amazing, all the top managers are very appreciative and supportive, our whole trust is great actually. I am very lucky.

It did make me laugh where a poster said we got paid for pretty much every hour though, that is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard. I am not complaining but it most definitely isn't true!

I don't see anyone on this thread from the NHS complaining about not getting a bonus. I see several contemptuous and factually incorrect comments from ignorant people complaining about us though.
SarahProblem · 17/12/2021 08:07

I think some people have really fallen for the "bash the NHS" rhetoric that certain media outlets are perpetuating

I don’t think so. I think OP set a certain tone with saying that she didn’t get a Xmas bonus because the NHS didn’t value her. Instead of saying that she didn’t get a Xmas bonus because in her role the NHS doesn’t use that as remuneration tool.
Bettybantz · 17/12/2021 08:13

We get £25 towards a Christmas do

Chesneyhawkes1 · 17/12/2021 08:14

We used to get a voucher. Now we get nothing
