Joggers make leggings look classy!

EleonorBronte · 11/12/2021 15:39

For many years i only saw men wearing them, men who appeared to have either given up or had a work/sport related excuse, or else they wore them to show off food, oil or snot stains. They sagged like giant nappies and made everyone look depressed and a bit waynetta slob. Perhaps I have bad associations as in the early 2000's my friend's abusive older partner wore them, crotch halfway down his legs, like a giant, aggressive, untidy marshmallow.

Then suddenly they were high fashion, have almost overtook jeans and leggings on ladies clothing websites and I just don't get it! I wouldn't judge someone for wearing them (this wouldn't occur to me in real life)) but im amazed at their popularity! I get that they're probably warm, comfy, but jeez they make leggings look high class, at least leggings go with anything and look sleek and comfy if you suit them.

AIBU??? Grin

I can't comment because I look like Max Wall in leggings.

Errm...have you actually read your own opening post? Confused

NerrSnerr · 11/12/2021 15:44

If you won't judge people for wearing joggers why have you written the OP?

Aprilx · 11/12/2021 15:45

😂. Yes this. OP your entire post is you judging people for wearing them!
Quickchangeartiste · 11/12/2021 15:45

I spend my life in leggings, but I wouldn’t say anything makes them look classy, there are just practical for my lifestyle 😂
Joggers for me are just a warm alternative, strictly to be worn indoors and of course they must be fresh 😄
But I am old and remember the horrors that were shell suits and velour joggers with slogans across the butt, so yes, I would have to agree with you - they are not for me

DoucheCanoe · 11/12/2021 15:48

YABU.

  1. Because you are judging despite your protests.

  2. Because it really doesn't affect you if other people want to buy them.

I live in jeans/leggings/joggers despite being short and dumpy, I really have no interest in looking "classy". I'm very much a comfort over style person though!

GreenLunchBox · 11/12/2021 15:49

YABU

Post a picture of what you're wearing today so we can critique

Returnoftheowl · 11/12/2021 15:50

You are clearly judging... At least own the fact.

Shit, I'd love to see your OP if you were judging someone

GrandDuchessRomanov · 11/12/2021 15:51

Are judgey pants similar to jogging pants?

EleonorBronte · 11/12/2021 15:52

oh chill the fuck out and give an opinion on joggers.

This site is just policed by some weird shit these days.

Who cares whether i judge or not, i said i dont in everyday life, but this is a bit of fun on the web, christ.

I know what you mean OP. It’s definitely a ‘trend’ now for the younger generation but I personally wouldn’t ever leave the house in joggers! (Unless my house was on fire or something 😄)

I do wonder if girls will look back in 2/5/10/20 years or whatever at the trends these days (90’s trends, joggers, ridiculously big puffer jackets, massive chunky trainers) and think what the actual fuck was I thinking?!

EleonorBronte · 11/12/2021 15:54

It would be so easy to just have a laugh or discuss the demon joggers wouldnt it??

For fuck's sake lighten up MN.

I dont see many wearing them but noticed Hush were really pushing the look. I think i just have some crappy associations with them. I just dont get it! Trends are always a bit crazy but this one baffles me more than cold shoulder tops.

What’s so un-classy about women in joggers? Maybe they’ve been for a run or to the gym. They’re more practical than jeans as they don’t slide down or dig in, they don’t highlight every bump like leggings, they don’t absorb water like denim if you get caught in the rain.

They’re easy to wash and dry, come in different colours and cuts, don’t need to be low slung and cuffed. I have some thick un-cuffed navy ones with brushed cotton fleece inside, lovely and warm and practical for the school run.

What’s wrong with leggings if you wear them with a tunic/long top?

What are ‘classy’ trousers? Jeans? Jeggings? Cords? Boden Richmond ankle grazers with heels?

DoucheCanoe · 11/12/2021 15:56

Well you did post in AIBU... If you want to chat there's a whole section for that, or there's style and beauty if you want "classy" .

It would be easy if your op was fun and lighthearted but it was actually really quite nasty towards specific groups of people
girlmom21 · 11/12/2021 15:58

Oh and some women actually look really lovely in slim fit loungewear and I hate them because it makes me look like a hippo

EssexLioness · 11/12/2021 15:59

YABU for judging despite clearly saying you weren’t judging 😆

YANBU as they don’t look particularly nice. However they are really comfortable and I do wear them as loungewear, but would never leave the house in them

Confused

So you don’t judge them in real life but want to bash them on a forum? Just, what’s the point? So someone agrees they’re shit and you can feel validated? But you don’t judge them so why would you care? Confused

EleonorBronte · 11/12/2021 16:00

you know, guys, this isnt deep enough to get uptight about. It's not a general election, just stretchy jersey.

I will let you in on a little secret, now don't tell anyone...we all know it's ok to wear whatever we like. I promise! But we can also have some fun debates in AIBU Grin

Maybe you don't look good in joggers but it doesn't mean someone else won't 🤷🏻‍♀️

EleonorBronte · 11/12/2021 16:04

Every fucking post gets bombed by aggressive policing. It is like a flash mob.
Come on MN be less predictable, are you that pissed off all the time?

There must be someone else who can see this pattern in the forum recently? Everything is shot down at the get go. Unless the OP is crying, dying or LTB.

That contradicts with this post doesn't it:

Nice try Grin
