Joggers make leggings look classy!

For many years i only saw men wearing them, men who appeared to have either given up or had a work/sport related excuse, or else they wore them to show off food, oil or snot stains. They sagged like giant nappies and made everyone look depressed and a bit waynetta slob. Perhaps I have bad associations as in the early 2000's my friend's abusive older partner wore them, crotch halfway down his legs, like a giant, aggressive, untidy marshmallow.

Then suddenly they were high fashion, have almost overtook jeans and leggings on ladies clothing websites and I just don't get it! I wouldn't judge someone for wearing them (this wouldn't occur to me in real life)) but im amazed at their popularity! I get that they're probably warm, comfy, but jeez they make leggings look high class, at least leggings go with anything and look sleek and comfy if you suit them.

YABU

Colleen Rooney made high end joggers a thing about 15 years ago.

It's trickled down to primark now.

LadyMaid · 12/12/2021 11:38

I understood joggers as in people who jog and was confused for the first half of the post. Smile

I have black, slim leg cuffless joggers, 100% cotton, that look just like trousers, but so comfy.

I even wear them for work.

So to answer your question, no.

fellrunner85 · 12/12/2021 14:27

Do I need to buy some Hush joggers?

Mine are Adidas fleecy things... do I want Hush ones too or will I just ruin them at running events?

Also, do Ronhill tracksters (if you know, you know) count as joggers? Fanx.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 12/12/2021 17:10

Just looked at Hush joggers… They have pairs that are £299!!! Shock

CrimbleCrumble1 · 12/12/2021 17:15

Mine were £50 and I live in them.

Stinkywizzleteets · 12/12/2021 17:22

OP you’d love me. I wear joggers over my leggings… it’s not that I cba in life as a PP stated it’s just that I genuinely dgaf what other people think of my chosen attire. Being on the judgement and I’ll show you someone that dgaf about your opinion too.

Seriously these “fun” threads where we pick on something deemed socially unacceptable by some yummy mummy draped in boden or next or whatever are so boring. I’d really appreciate OP if you could explain to shabby lil ole me where the fun element is and for whom it is fun to do this kind of thing.

BringMeTea · 12/12/2021 17:32

Men in grey marl joggers. Fucking awful. Even worse if matching top.

MrsClatterbuck · 12/12/2021 17:33

Not sure about women but have seen young teenage boys wear jogging bottoms a lot. I actually commented on it to DH the other day. I think they have eschewed jeans as that is what their parents wear. Young girls I see more in leggings and sometimes skinny jeans.

I see a lot of men wearing leggings with shorts over the top.

"Who cares whether i judge or not, i said i dont in everyday life, but this is a bit of fun on the web, christ."

Because what's written on the web doesn't affect people?

Some people look good in anything. My adult DD wears the slimmer leg, cuffless type. She's 25 and gorgeous. Just like the young women wearing them across YT, Tiktoc, which probably added to the popularity. I dress for practicality, unless I'm going out-out or somewhere special. So clothes aren't chosen because they are classy.

"Colleen Rooney made high end joggers a thing about 15 years ago"
No she didn't. She was following the fashion at the time.

Onlinedilema · 12/12/2021 21:09

Hmmm all these people saying they don't judge. You seriously would not batter an eyelid if your child's form teacher attended parents evening wearing a baggy, grey tracksuit and they were not a PE teacher. Or at your child's wedding guests turned up in grey joggers, seriously?
Or the registrar turned up with greasy hair and in grey joggers. You would be perfectly unaware ?

Tigger85 · 12/12/2021 21:51

I love joggers, they are comfy, warm and have pockets you can actually fit stuff in. At the moment I am in late pregnancy and the only things that fit are leggings which are ok but the lack of pockets annoys me. I am not a fashionable person and don't care what other people think, I just like to be comfortable.

I said in my first post that my DH wears joggers to work from home and I don’t wear mine to work (except on PE days). I would not be adhering to my school’s dress code if I wore them. I wouldn’t be in jeans either though.

I genuinely don’t judge people out and about though. How does it affect me in any way what someone else is wearing?

Oh and someone did change into joggers for the evening part of my wedding. I thought it a bit strange that he’d brought a change of clothes but didn’t care that he’d changed.

Men in grey joggers is a whole meme for some people who find it very attractive because apparently you can see the outline of their dick.

Exhibit A:

Joggers make leggings look classy!
housemaus · 13/12/2021 13:13

I think YABU OP cos I'm a lazy bitch who fucking loves my joggers. I don't often wear them out but sometimes I will for work (but we have the most relaxed office of all time and that would basically count as businesswear).

But also I think a nice high waisted jogger, cropped top, baggy checked shirt is a nice look (if you look like this in it anyway, haha)!

Joggers make leggings look classy!

I know Grin. DH is very much not a joggers man so if he was wearing them I would assume he was ill or about to do some decorating. If he wore a matching jacket, I would think he had had a blow to the head...

I, obviously, look very chic and lounge-wear-y in mine, so he has to put up with it Wink

AperolWhore · 13/12/2021 13:35

Christ I silently judge people for wearing joggers and leggings 🤣 I can’t stand them, yes some people look great in them but I just don’t get them…give me a pair or well fitting jeans or a dress any day!

mafted · 13/12/2021 13:41

I really can't stand leggings so if joggers are taking over then it will be a good thing IMO

LittleBabyCheeses · 13/12/2021 14:09

Agreed… I think joggers are better than leggings!
fabricfanatic · 13/12/2021 14:28

I wear what I want, and you can judge if you want, but at least own it! Grin

Yeah, I love joggers. I have a couple of pair with fleece lining on the inside, and they are heavenly. More comfortable than my PJ pants, because they're warmer and fit better, so I can wear them walking around the house and garden.

I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing them out in public, but if others do, good for them! Just as you think leggings look classier than joggers, I think see-through, ill-fitting leggings with nothing but a stretched-too-thin legging and possibly underwear between you and the world look distinctly lacking in class. Yes, I judge. At least I'm being honest about it! Wink

fellrunner85 · 13/12/2021 14:42

I just don’t get them…give me a pair or well fitting jeans or a dress any day!

Depends where you're going though, doesn't it? You'd look a bit of a knob if you were up a hillside, or competing in a sporting event, or bouldering, or jogging with your DC... etc etc ... in a dress. Your lifestyle might fit with fitted jeans or a dress, mine doesn't. But you wouldn't know where I'd just been or what I was planning on doing if you just saw me in Tesco.

Movinghouseatlast · 13/12/2021 14:46

I have short fat ( hairy) legs and look awful in leggings, truly hideous.

Joggers look much nicer these days because they are sleeker than they used to be. My sister is a Cheshire Wife style person and wears cashmere joggers. She looks very classy in them. But then again she has waist length blonde hair and drives a BMW.

Hemingwayscatz · 13/12/2021 14:46

Joggers are fine and practical for children but I agree that they don’t look great on adults at all. Same for leggings really, fine on kids but look a bit shit on adults. Comfortable though, I’m sure.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 13/12/2021 14:51

YANBU. And men in their gray trackies all look like drug dealers to me!
