Aibu to expect an announcement soon?

Given the fiasco of the last few days how can he possibly stay in office?

How can the Tories possibly think he is useful to them anymore when his private and work life are intertwined in sleaze and lie upon lie?

They say you reap what you sow. If this is true how is BJ even employed or in a relationship?

Aibu to expect an announcement from him soon. I live in hope.

I envy your optimism. Who do you want instead?

Scrabblecrabapple · 10/12/2021 19:02

He is too egotistical. He will cling on and let the ship sink rather than go. Or he will hide in a fridge until it passes.

FindingMeno · 10/12/2021 19:02

If he had any morals, decency or shame he'd resign.
So I'm not expecting an announcement, no.

AlternativePerspective · 10/12/2021 19:04

It’s not going to happen.

We were speculating yesterday whether the baby was actually born days ago but they’d held off the announcement in the hopes it would take the spotlight off this fiasco but seems it didn’t.

Mybalconyiscracking · 10/12/2021 19:04

As I have said elsewhere, I cannot get exercised over a few civil servants getting together for some warm wine and sweaty cheese, over a year ago. This is what is known as a slow news day at the BBC!

Thedogscollar · 10/12/2021 19:06

@AnneLovesGilbert
That is the very sad bit I honestly don't know.

The opposition are lack lustre but the thought of more years of BJ and this shower are horrific.

I'd imagine if someone you loved had died scared and alone, after being isolated for most of the year you'd feel differently.

Or if you were than person who stayed at home on Christmas and didn't spend time with family because you believed in doing things for the greater good, you'd feel differently.

MadeOfStarStuff · 10/12/2021 19:12

YANBU to think there should be but YABU to not expect the bastards to brazen this out like they do everything else.

mayblossominapril · 10/12/2021 19:15

Who are we going to get instead?
Rishi who will cut everything to balance the books
Truss who unlike Maggie does turn
Gove really doesn’t bear thinking about
Rab not sure about him
At least Bojo takes covid seriously (we as a nation were quite lucky he caught it) and won’t cut spending as he wants the red wall votes again.
I never thought I’d say it but I’d rather he stayed as the alternatives are much worse. I’m not a Tory voter.

And you are ok with the lying?
Yummypumpkin · 10/12/2021 19:15

No no no no. He won't go til the possible replacements have got their numbers straight and until partygate is over. February I would say.

VirusgonnaVirus · 10/12/2021 19:17

Rab not sure about him

Rab I like my holidays more than my responsibilities? No thanks

I can. I can get very very angry because these people made the rules that made me miss the last month of my beloved father's life. These people made the rules that meant only one person (me) could sit with him while he died. These people made the rules that we couldn't even have a proper service. These people made the rules that meant I couldn't even hug my family. Now do you get it?

You make it sound so trivial when it was anything but.

I assume you are one of the I'm alright Jack crowd as it didn't affect you directly but for many others it is a kick in the stomach to know that while these buffoons were quaffing down champers with no social distancing many could not be with loved ones or say goodbye to dying relatives.
The lack of empathy shown by this government is truly shocking.

Sadly you are probably right. Never apologise never explain deny deny deny the Tory mantra.

Oh well if *@Mybalconyiscracking isn't annoyed then obviously the rest of the country isn't either. Thank god we have you @Mybalconyiscracking*, I was almost going to form an opinion of my own but I'll just go along with what you think instead.

I absolutely agree
goodwinter · 10/12/2021 19:40

He is useful for the party right now because he is currently the face of sleaze/corruption accusations, the pandemic response, and (to an extent) Brexit. I imagine he'll be pushed out some time before the next election, to possibly be replaced by Sunak as he seems a good foil to Starmer. Someone on Reddit described it as "boring suit Vs boring suit" and I can absolutely see it. Starmer is leaning on the fact that he's a "responsible grown up" Vs Johnson, so I'm sure the Tories will want to counter that in kind.

Landof · 10/12/2021 19:48

I live in hope. Don't think it will happen although I hope I'm wrong.

Thedogscollar · 10/12/2021 19:52

@Davros

Sensibly the vast majority don't have such low standards and lack of empathy as you and @Mybalcony

I still like him.

DroopyClematis · 10/12/2021 19:54

I find it very odd that these parties have take a year to become known.

I'm minded to think that this was contained but with a view to being publicised when the winds of change fly in.

The real power brokers have sat back and waited for the change in public opinion.
Johnson will be allowed to take glory in the vaccine roll out but the knives are out for him.

There's a fair bit of posturing going on by certain cabinet members.

KeyErro · 10/12/2021 19:54

It's not just the one party though, Mybalcony

BIWI · 10/12/2021 19:55

Christ then you must have exceptionally low standards @FreeBritnee Hmm
