Given the fiasco of the last few days how can he possibly stay in office?

How can the Tories possibly think he is useful to them anymore when his private and work life are intertwined in sleaze and lie upon lie?

They say you reap what you sow. If this is true how is BJ even employed or in a relationship?

Aibu to expect an announcement from him soon. I live in hope.

The key problem is not enough people vote anymore. The 'labour heartland'of traditionally nhs staff and teachers just dont vote. Total apathy. Ther rest of us are tearing our hair out worrying about teachers and nurses when actually in my (limited, own) experience the ones in my circle feel well pain and well served by the tory government. They dont vote.

JHMJHM · 11/12/2021 20:26

*well paid not pain

Pixxie7 · 11/12/2021 20:32

He is another Trump and will hang on to power as long as he can, failing a complete Tory rebellion I can’t see him going anywhere soon.

rwalker · 11/12/2021 20:32

Not sure he'll be pushed out the job is a complete poison chalice . Who an earth would want to take it on ,
All side are full of should of ,could of and would of .

When directly ask what they would do all other parties are VERY evasive and non comital .

Fawful · 11/12/2021 20:37

It wasn't a quick afterwork thing between colleagues, @JaniieJones
Invites were sent out three weeks in advance, and journalists from the Sun and Telegraph attended. Numerous people have confirmed this. Yeah yeah, we can wait for the evidence and we'll find that's what it was. Journalists and number 10 don't share offices (or do they?).
The government made up the rules to stop people mixing, and police/courts handed out £10K fines to people who broke them. Remember the students who had a snowball fight? £10K is a hell of a lot of money for ordinary people, yet that is what the government decided they must pay, while they themselves broke the same rules.
The fact that the people who make the rules up have to obey them is pretty central to the functioning of democracy.
You might think it was fine to have a party - well they made the rule that said it wasn't, so regardless of how you and I feel about it, they at least have to pay a fine.
The whole thing has really pissed me off, like they really take us for mugs, or medieval peasants.

SueSaid · 11/12/2021 20:44

'Invites were sent out three weeks in advance, and journalists from the Sun and Telegraph attended. Numerous people have confirmed this. Yeah yeah, we can wait for the evidence and we'll find that's what it was'

Who has confirmed it?

'You might think it was fine to have a party'

Where the fuck have I said that?! I've said the opposite, I will be as pissed off as the next person if we see the WhatsApp screen shots, emailed invites, cctv footage of people pissed up at 2am. At the moment the evidence is a bit tumble weedy isn't it?

It's difficult with our media they make so much up it'd hard to know what to believe tbh.

Poetrypatty · 11/12/2021 20:59

Let's wait for the proof shall we?

Well I've seen some of the proof with my own eyes, which is Allegra Stratton laughing and joking about it and then resigning. Obviously a party took place. To think Boris Johnson who lives in that building didn't know about it or hear of it is laughable. So that's evidence of a party to me, and now plenty more have been reported. I have no doubt anyway that more will come to light, maybe even in the Sunday papers.

Fawful · 11/12/2021 21:07

You said 'If they had parties I'll be incensed too. Workplace secret santas aren't quite that though are they.'
It wasn't a workplace Secret Santa.
The newspaper who broke the stories, and the Times, and Cummings, and others, have said there were journalists. The number 10 member of staff who instructed the Cabinet and Johnson to say 'there was no party' before the video was released, was at the blooming party himself (director of Comms I think). He offered his resignation (which Johnson didn't accept). Doesn't that tell you the journalists are on to something that number 10 doesn't want to admit?
Anyway, even workplaces Santa would have attracted a fine, so I'd like them to be handed one.
As for evidence, newspapers aren't going to reveal their sources to the public.
The police should investigate the way they are investigating similar offences from the same period. It's their job to interview the sources. The Good Law Project intends to sue the police if they don't investigate. So hopefully, they will, and you'll have your evidence. But seeing Allegra laugh when asked 'would the PM condone having a party?' and chuckle 'what's the answer?' is honestly pretty damning.

IncompleteSenten · 11/12/2021 21:09

They'll keep him so they can later blame the entire shitshow on him, get rid and hope the public are stupid enough to carry on voting for them.

SueSaid · 11/12/2021 21:36

'The newspaper who broke the stories, and the Times, and Cummings, and others, have said there were journalists. '

I'm more interested in footage than 'the newspaper said'.

Not saying it's lies I just don't believe everything the papers say. There will be cctv everywhere, let's see it.

Poetrypatty · 11/12/2021 21:57

There will be cctv everywhere, let's see it.
Yes we know there must be because that's how we all saw Matt Hancock's snog.

I'm NHS and I have voted in every political election.

Many of my colleagues vote and I'd say nhs staff and teachers have a very socialist outlook.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm bring unreasonable in hoping for the idiot to go soon however the knives are out so looking forward to what 2022 brings us.

No, I think Boris has 9 lives, he's gonna see this out for a while yet.
Another blunder or 3, then he will be pushed out. L

repottingthescabious · 12/12/2021 03:13

@Choirgirl2021

Rory Stewart
yes!!
repottingthescabious · 12/12/2021 03:15

Boris is a treacherous lying oversexed Womble

Seemslikeagoodidea · 12/12/2021 03:28

Rory Stewart for PM. Complete opposite of Bojo - thoughtful, has integrity, and left the party when Bojo won the contest, stating that "he's not my type of man". Not very slick on camera but seems really decent. Come on Rory!

SoOverThisCrap · 12/12/2021 07:50

@Scrabblecrabapple

He is too egotistical. He will cling on and let the ship sink rather than go. Or he will hide in a fridge until it passes.
🤣😂
Summerrain123 · 12/12/2021 08:14

@Mybalconyiscracking

Totally lacking empathy!! How can you not be angry at the hypocrisy and lying while others suffered.

The restrictions didn't affect me either but I am so disgusted at the utterly shameless act. So many of their own rules broken. They are an utter shit show.

EllaVaNight · 12/12/2021 08:19

The only thing that's surprised me is how much so many people are surprised! Of course they had a party! They were probably laughing about how clever they are partying whilst everyone else was locked up!

OneInEight · 12/12/2021 08:39

If the photo released of the PM "partying" today is representative of the so-called party I honestly think this is all media hype. Not what I would call a party anyway.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 12/12/2021 08:48

Agree, the timing of the release of this information has been orchestrated to maximum benefit for someone. Which makes it worse, its only been released as part of a political power play, not because those that released it really care.

The last sentence hits it.

My neighbour has had an awful lot to say about the parties. Interesting really because they had enough of them during the lockdowns.

Fawful · 12/12/2021 09:47

@OneInEight you would have been fined for doing the same, though.
How much are you prepared to be fined that you think he himself doesn't have to pay, because it's ok for him to break the law, just not for you?
If his mixing with people was nothing to be worked up about, then the prosecutions and fines for ordinary people breaching Covid rules last year should be dropped, but they are currently still being processed.
I read the opinion that Johnson clearly finds it churlish that anyone should question that he is special and that rules don't apply to him. IMO a disgusting trait in a PM, and a slippery slope for a country to allow from its leaders.
I agree it is all being revealed now for a purpose, maybe by someone within the party who went along with things while having reservations and the knives are obviously out for him within the party. Johnson seems impulsive so he might well go on a whim, or he could equally cling to power since he's clearly Teflon-coated and has no shame

PhilCornwall1 · 12/12/2021 09:59

Wouldn't be surprised if it's announced he's conveniently got the new variant and he's buggered off somewhere to isolate, so he can go off the radar for a few days, hoping this dies down.

I thought he had the whip removed for not voting for a very hard Brexit? There was then no chance of keeping his seat at the election.
dayouttobangor · 12/12/2021 12:01

Rory Stewart is no longer an MP.

I think it will be 2022 before Mr Johnson goes, even if on Thursday the Tories lose the by-election.
