Given the fiasco of the last few days how can he possibly stay in office?

How can the Tories possibly think he is useful to them anymore when his private and work life are intertwined in sleaze and lie upon lie?

They say you reap what you sow. If this is true how is BJ even employed or in a relationship?

Aibu to expect an announcement from him soon. I live in hope.

All humanity has died with Covid. I'm supposed to sit at home to protect my dieing relatives while rich politicians party. That's literally what I did. My grandma died in hospital, alone, in December last year. Her husband of over 40 years was not allowed to hold her hand or say goodbye.

Fuck everyone and fuck covid. You know what these last 18 months have taught me? That nobody cares about me. No one. I am in it for myself. Nobody gives a shit about anyone. So I won't give a shit about anyone anymore either. Don't give a fuck about anyone since no one gives a fuck about me or my family. We all need to become as selfish as possible to survive.

Nat6999 · 11/12/2021 04:05

The Tories are fighting amongst each other, I don't think it is imminent that they will kick him out but I expect it will happen within 6-9 months. Labour are now in front in the opinion polls & they won't want them to get much further in front. If many more Tories continue to vote against new policies then we may end up with a general election.

UniversalAunt · 11/12/2021 05:35
  1. Who is a credible shoe-in if BJ goes before Christmas?
If the Tory grandees evict him from the leadership, his replacement will need to be someone with a steady hand on the tiller until the next election date. With an 80 seat majority, BJ or his replacement can sit tight & brazen this parliamentary term out.

KeirS’s leadership is not embedded enough for the Labour Party to encourage a general election or replacing BJ.

So the varying politicos around No.10, HoP etc were enjoying festive frolics at organised office parties or dinners out & about. Almost a full year ago, so the question is….why this? why now?

Yes, these people were massive hypocrites, no doubt. People who broke to lockdown rules are going through the court system now & being heavily fined. One rule for the, one rule for us.

But the question to be asked is what is this fuss keeping off main stream media.?

AllegraS fell upon her dainty sword just that little bit too swiftly, but she did make for some charming photos for the front pages.

SinoohXaenaHide · 11/12/2021 05:47

It's not that I disagree with you, but I voted YABU because the obvious imperative for him to resign woud only happen within a culture at Westminster where honour and integrity are prized beyond personal gain. That hasn't been the case for a long time. Boris will hang on to power until he is forced out either through the ballot box or being ousted by his own party. His own party won't force the issue because they will be too scared that the next candidate will not be sufficiently populist, and will hope that by the time the next general election rolls around all this evidence of lies and sleeze will have been forgotten and we'll just focus on what a jolly nice bloke he is and yes he made a few mistakes but we are all human and whose to say whether anyone else would have made fewer mistakes.

WestendVBroadway · 11/12/2021 10:25

Yep I am incensed that people had parties when we were advised to not to meet up.I have never voted Tory, and am certainly no fan of Boris, however are we really expected to believe that there was no Christmas shindig at Labour HQ last year? Keir Starmer slagging of Tories has really pissed me off, when many of his own party broke lockdown rules.

SueSaid · 11/12/2021 12:49

'Yep I am incensed that people had parties when we were advised to not to meet up'

If they had parties I'll be incensed too. Workplace secret santas aren't quite that though are they.

You mustn't let the media whip you in to a frenzy. Wait until you hear the facts.

Poetrypatty · 11/12/2021 13:00

8 parties and counting I think so far. And the rest of us following the rules like mugs. No wonder people are angry.

SueSaid · 11/12/2021 14:30

'8 parties and counting I think so far. And the rest of us following the rules like mugs. No wonder people are angry'

Again, if proven and let's face it cctv will be everywhere, I'll be as angry as the next person. Where is the footage, the mole must surely have it stashed and saved?

If it is people that were already in the workplace that doesn't constitute a party. We just don't actually know yet do we?

The media are being grossly irresponsible imo focusing on this when there are real concerns about omicron that is getting lost in all the outrage.

Poetrypatty · 11/12/2021 14:36

it would be a lot worse if we had a media who ignored this. It is the fault of the government and them alone. At the time people weren't allowed after work drinks and social activities simple as that. That had all sorts of consequences for people, from teenagers unable to socialise through to those who couldn't spend a final Christmas with loved ones.

The point is, the government has severely undermined the public health message, because people will no longer comply if those giving out the orders do something completely different themselves. That could have very serious grave consequences for all of us.

TheCreamCaker · 11/12/2021 14:59

That toe-tag won't resign or get booted out, but if he's out, who would take his place? They're all the bloody same, and certainly Labour is even worse

SueSaid · 11/12/2021 15:28

Yes I get that and as I keep saying if proven I'll be as furious as the next person. Let's see the evidence and the footage first though, rather than listening to what is media gossip at the moment.

These "parties" are not the fault of the Government. The Government wasn't in No.10 having a shindig. People who work in No.10 are responsible for any after work wine and cheese whatevers and they alone.
mommydragonn · 11/12/2021 18:19

@AlternativePerspective

It’s not going to happen.

We were speculating yesterday whether the baby was actually born days ago but they’d held off the announcement in the hopes it would take the spotlight off this fiasco but seems it didn’t.

I haven't caught up with News.... which baby?
Poetrypatty · 11/12/2021 18:22

The government is responsible. They're also responsible for a culture where this could happen, the lack of order. Also all the parties weren't just that one in No.10.

Poetrypatty · 11/12/2021 18:23

It's baby 'number at least 7' for him, and her 2nd I believe.

SmellyOldOwls · 11/12/2021 18:30

'These "parties" are not the fault of the Government. The Government wasn't in No.10 having a shindig.'

How do you know who was there? They haven't even officially admitted that there was a party.

Piglet89 · 11/12/2021 18:36

@Potnoodleforbrains

Why does everyone feel they need somebody to blame for all this. Boris did not make covid happen ffs. Who could have done better in this situation, you?

Yep.

HangingDitch · 11/12/2021 18:45

OK, you get rid of a Boris. Then what? We suddenly get an enlightened, sensible government who care about the welfare of the people and conduct themselves with humanity and compassion? No, you get one of Boris’ mates doing pretty much exactly the same.

I’m not a Conservative but there are some sensible people in the party who, at the very least, are fit to govern. Unfortunately none of them are likely to win the leadership.

lightisnotwhite · 11/12/2021 18:46

There is zero difference between people who are working with each other all day having a “ party” in the evening.

There’s a massive difference to the government allowing a Christmas party. Do thisr WFH get invited in or other halves are invited? Easier to say no party.

Fir thise saying hypocrite how could you implement a safe office party ie only those in the office already, without HUGE implications ie the person who’s been off sick but ok for the party, the people that SAY they worked together that day ( impossible to prove).

Much better that each organisation have the reward/celebration that befits them. NOT a party but something low risk given the circumstances.

The point is we all weren't allowed to have parties and the general public were being fined for that very thing. The people passing the laws
actually having parties themselves, or sanctioning parties or overlooking that their employees had them, is corrupt.

Allegedly.

Let's wait for the proof shall we?

How do you work that one out?
