Is your work night out/party going ahead?

Unless you've had it already, is it still going ahead this week/month, or has it been cancelled?

I've heard of several cancelling them. We've got a team meal booked but several staff members starting to pull out from it.

Ours is not an official work do this week. A few people have already pulled out due to rise in numbers.

DollyPartBaked · 08/12/2021 21:48

Ours was cancelled a few days ago - around 100 people in central London. Sensible decision!

DeepaBeesKit · 08/12/2021 21:49

Ours got cancelled. I got Covid last week when I attended the office, along with 5 colleagues, so I think it was a given it wasnt going to happen.

NeverForgetYourDreams · 08/12/2021 21:49

Yes Friday. Can't wait

Kite22 · 08/12/2021 21:49

AYBU about what ?

We decided not to book any "going out" event a while ago as it was fairly predictable we'd be at this point in December.
Individuals have met for lunch or a coffee or a walk as suits their comfort zone at the moment (we normally work in different places, and at the moment are all working mostly at home anyway).
So ours hasn't been cancelled, it was never arranged.

PineappleCakes · 08/12/2021 21:49

Lunch do on Friday, just been cancelled tonight :(

Allywill · 08/12/2021 21:52

Ours going ahead afaik, but it’s only a lunch for 6 of us who up to and including today have been in the office together. I will do a lft before I go though as per the guidance.

HangingDitch · 08/12/2021 21:54

Yes, ours was tonight. Nearly full attendance, although I already had other plans so couldn’t go.

Department meal / drinks is next week, still on and everyone attending.

drpaddington · 08/12/2021 21:57

Ours went ahead, we all had to do lateral flow tests beforehand. We all work closely with no masks or distancing so the party wasn't much different really.

DrDreReturns · 08/12/2021 21:58

At the moment it is. It's on Friday. I'll be annoyed if it is cancelled as I had to miss the last work social in September. Free food and drinks and night away in a hotel. First treat in about two years!

KirkstallAbbess · 08/12/2021 21:58

Yes! I've got three, one down, two to go 😊.

daisydoh · 08/12/2021 22:00

Ours is happening. I'm the organiser. I figured if people are worried about Covid they won't attend but we don't want to spoil it for everyone by cancelling.

PicnicPie · 08/12/2021 22:02

Ours was meant to be tomorrow in Central London. Now cancelled 😞

LuckyLuckyWoman · 08/12/2021 22:03

Nope, my company sent out a message weeks ago saying no official do, also advising against any unofficial nights out. Although how they would know that I don't know. To be fair we are a small business and having to close if we all tested positive would no doubt be a disaster.

Fuggly · 08/12/2021 22:13

Ours was to be on saturday. Cancelled yesterday.

hemhem · 08/12/2021 22:16

Mine is tomorrow night, hoping I don't get into work tomorrow and find out its been cancelled, I'm really looking forward to it!

daisydoh · 08/12/2021 22:17

Is it neglectful to go ahead with ours?! I'm starting to second guess now from all these responses!

Is it not fair to crack on with our lives now and if people are worried then either get vaccinated or don't attend their Xmas party?!

Thefuturestory · 08/12/2021 22:17

Ours is next week. Fully expect it to be cancelled and lots of staff will have a unusable travel lodge.

caketiger · 08/12/2021 22:20

Ours was a week ago. 80+ people. Moved online via Zoom.

Movingsoon21 · 08/12/2021 22:22

Ours is dinner for 40 people in London next Wednesday, just been cancelled Sad

Asdf12345 · 08/12/2021 22:22

I am booked for three. One we expect will be cancelled, lots of emails flying around asking us to consider carefully how appropriate it would be given the impact of potentially losing a small number of staff critical to the system at once.

Another is probably more risky in terms of potential fall out if many people were to end up isolating but is not officially work related, it’s just the core of the team happening to go to the same place.

The third is a meeting we would have had anyway relocated to a local pub/restaurant.

gersteddybears · 08/12/2021 22:23

Yip this wkend. It's not an official Do organised by work. It is a do though that the whole dept of about 50 ppl were invited to I reckon at least half said yes. So glad I cldnt be arsed now 😂

BettyfromBristol · 08/12/2021 22:23

No, it's cancelled but was only going to be very small. We will do it on Zoom "like the old days of Covid" as my colleague said.

rainbowandglitter · 08/12/2021 22:28

My works Xmas do is next week for 50 people and still going ahead at this point in time

Biker47 · 08/12/2021 22:32

@caketiger

Ours was a week ago. 80+ people. Moved online via Zoom.
Can't imagine anything worse; a zoom Christmas night out/party.

Ours is still happening on Saturday.
