Is your work night out/party going ahead?

Unless you've had it already, is it still going ahead this week/month, or has it been cancelled?

I've heard of several cancelling them. We've got a team meal booked but several staff members starting to pull out from it.

Mine was meant to be today and was cancelled following warnings in Scotland. I was really annoyed, but my husband had work drinks last night and tested positive this morning so it was probably a sensible move! He is fully vaccinated and had tested before going along. Now I have to isolate even though I’m negative. Fed up.

ThinWomansBrain · 10/12/2021 23:40

It did - 4 hours on zoom apparently. I endured it for half an hour,

irregularegular · 10/12/2021 23:42

No. I work in a University. There has been a rapid increase in cases this week, having been very low all term. The VC told us on Thursday to cancel all department/college social events before Christmas. Sad, but probably the right call.

WhatsitWiggle · 10/12/2021 23:59

We had our department do on Thursday - about 25 people from a department of 80, there's usually a few more but pretty decent considering it was arranged last minute. Only 2 dropped out due to isolating.

Team lunch on Monday, but no-one in the office now. Still 10 from 20 saying they are going (and some of those not coming wouldn't join in a normal year).

None of it funded by the company though.

Well our party for several hundred went ahead on Friday…testing beforehand which had to be sent to the organisers. Logged on this morning…someone notified them they’d tested positive on Saturday. So glad I skipped it!

IgneousRock · 15/12/2021 11:18

I posted earlier on this thread to say it was going ahead... but it's been cancelled now.

liveforsummer · 15/12/2021 11:21

Yes, but I can't go because dc have covid so I'm in covid jail 🙄. Miss it by a day - in fact about 6 hours. I could always go and meet them at midnight!

JessicaPeach · 15/12/2021 13:38

My husband went to his on Friday, less than 20 people, all took a lateral flow beforehand. Drinks in their office followed by a meal in a restaurant 4.30-7. 7 of them have tested positive this morning.

Siameasy · 15/12/2021 13:40

Yes I’ve got one tomorrow and one Friday both going ahead. Dinner dances.

GiantHaystacks2021 · 15/12/2021 13:57

Ours was cancelled this week.
Fine by me.

Donatella · 15/12/2021 20:54

I really thought ours would go ahead but it's been cancelled this afternoon (postponed technically as the venue won't give us a refund but did agree to postpone). Sensible given we are NHS and it could have been disastrous for staffing. Our smaller team meal tomorrow is still going ahead as things stand but I'm not holding my breath

ElectraBlue · 15/12/2021 21:05

Ours went ahead this evening. Everyone had to test themselves before attending.

Meggie2008 · 15/12/2021 21:44

Drinks on Friday after work, 10 of us, not cancelled.

Essexgirlupnorth · 15/12/2021 21:47

We were never being allowed to have one and had lots of guilt triping e-mails this week saying we can't tell you what to do in your free time but please consider the impact on your service (work for NHS).

amiafreakofnature · 15/12/2021 23:08

We had ours a couple of weeks back (nhs) we are all still well and tbh it did us all the world of food to bond as a team eat drink dance and be merry

Octavi · 15/12/2021 23:31

No. Wasn't arranged in the first place. We're having a zoom call instead. So depressing.

OscarWildesCat · 16/12/2021 17:59

Ours was 4th December and ten of the 30 of us now have covid, myself included, so I wouldn't advise it!

HunterGatherer · 16/12/2021 18:02

Nope. NHS. Hospital already at capacity, the last thing any of us need right now is to be off sick or to be covering for absent colleagues.

crystal1983 · 16/12/2021 21:05

Doing a lunch tomorrow. Originally meant to be 17 of us, now will only be 9. Would have cancelled if the majority wanted to.
