Is your work night out/party going ahead?

Unless you've had it already, is it still going ahead this week/month, or has it been cancelled?

I've heard of several cancelling them. We've got a team meal booked but several staff members starting to pull out from it.

Ours was never arranged this year in the first place.

Cascascascas · 09/12/2021 04:44

@User135644

Cancelled last week for next week

Agadorsparticus · 09/12/2021 04:48

I think it will still go ahead but it is a fairly low key meal out with unlimited drinks and a taxi home not a big glitzy party.

Bellaphant · 09/12/2021 06:48

Nothing booked for us, we were given the option of spending our budget on vouchers/chocolate/a charity donation at the start of the month. The first big in person, whole company, spilt over five locations in the country events in two years were meant to be happening this week, but someone got a positive PCR the night of the first one so they've all been postponed.

I've just had an invite to an in person team meeting, in march!

EachandEveryone · 09/12/2021 06:53

Yes tonight everyone asked to do a test before hand

Donatella · 09/12/2021 06:57

At the moment it is, but I won't totally believe it until we are actually there. Manager is fighting hard not to cancel, big bosses may still get too nervous at the last minute though. There are mitigations in place so hopefully they will be happy that this enough.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 09/12/2021 07:01

We don't have a formal one but there's an arrangement to go out to the pub next weekend and it's going ahead.

To be honest we're all quite relaxed about Covid, I work in a factory and we've been going out to work throughout so we have just had to get on with it. A lot of us have had Covid already including myself.

Madabootcats · 09/12/2021 07:15

Had ours last weekend. Small team, an activity then a meal. It was pretty good as far as work night outs go, not usually a fan. We're essential workers though so going out for a meal is actually less risky than going to work as far as covid is concerned.
Plus we're in Scotland, the restrictions coming into England have never left Scotland. Work from home is still the advice and masks mandatory practically everywhere.

woulducouldushouldu · 09/12/2021 10:26

Main staff party about 100 people cancelled

Team dinners no but 3 down with Covid following team dinner last Friday.

I have declined going to our team dinner. Just not worth it imo as I am flat out with year end and being sick would be a disaster/ ruin any chance of having some time off over Christmas

Xiaoxiong · 09/12/2021 10:48

Team lunch tomorrow cancelled (

iklboodolphrednosedpaindear · 09/12/2021 11:32

No. The firm allows £45 per head for a Christmas party but they're giving us vouchers instead this year to spend on what we want.

Prinnny · 09/12/2021 11:35

Yep we need a good drink. We’re NHS though so all arranged and paid for by ourselves, no kind bosses paying for us!

lastqueenofscotland · 09/12/2021 11:36

Ours was cancelled

iklboodolphrednosedpaindear · 09/12/2021 11:47

BUT I am going on DH's Xmas do on Saturday. He's self-employed though so it's just him, me & DS Grin

BiddyPop · 09/12/2021 11:52

No - it was never organised this year as we had only been starting to return to the office part time and on a phased basis and have reverted to fully WFH for the past 3 weeks.

PhoboPhobia · 09/12/2021 11:55

We had lunch planned for next week - about 20 people, we've cancelled.

DDs work have just cancelled their private party for 50+ people

We both work in the NHS.

DHs company fed back that so many people said how glad they were that there wasn't one last year that they weren't doing one this year but each team is getting £15 per head to order lunch in on Christmas eve.

Notjustanymum · 09/12/2021 11:57

Yes, officially cancelled this morning (was going to be tomorrow).

Cas112 · 09/12/2021 12:02

Our works do not cancelled, at a function room, approx 150 employees couple not going

wasthataburp · 09/12/2021 12:02

Yes both the family one and the office one at a large venue. Both with hundreds of people and all going ahead. If people feel uncomfortable then they are free to not attend. There is no reason why they shouldn't go ahead

Xmasprrssiehelp · 09/12/2021 12:04

My own company party never got planned , we was given local budgets for for smaller team events.

A company party I was invited to has been cancelled. City centre night out for 200+ people.

Company offices are closing again on Monday, the comms said it would be preferable for people to wfh from today. Large company has 1.7k employees. We have had a few outbreaks whilst the office has been opened, quite a lot of the senior management team caught it off each other - so I think the stance is they don’t want us all off sick at the same time!

CapBarnacles · 09/12/2021 12:05

As far as I know, our team dinner is still going ahead!

Etinoxaurus · 09/12/2021 12:05

Daytime one 1-3pm scaled down from whole day to lunch only with one drink (it was never going to be a boozy affair) 🤞that’s responsible as I’m on my knees with organising it.

GougeAway · 09/12/2021 13:55

I’m NHS and we have all been persuaded to cancel. Lots of staff lost their own money. Luckily our do was just a pub lunch for 15 and we have just rescheduled for well into spring letting pub keep our deposits.

emmathedilemma · 09/12/2021 13:56

Still going ahead as far as I know although quite a few had pulled out this week. It's the 17th so too close to Xmas for comfort for me!

YungWaffle · 09/12/2021 13:58

We only had a lunch planned for Monday, but it's been cancelled. I was going to use the announcement as an excuse to pull out anyway.
