To ask if you drink in pints or halves?

If you drink beer / cider / lager etc, do you drink in pints or by the half pint?

I know that historically 'ladies' were frowned upon for drinking a pint.

Now times are moving on is it more acceptable to drink a pint, do you and what are your views generally?

Mine is that if I want a pint I will have one. Saves going to the bar twice. But at the same time I don't want to be judged by others for it.

I generally drink pints of every day beer and cider. But I, like pp, am a craft beer wanker often drinking in tap houses where I'll drink 1/2 or 2/3s depending on strength or 1/3 of stouts and sours.

I've been drinking pints since I started going to the pub (1993).

But increasingly I drink halves as I don't drink very much these days and can't keep up if I drink pints.

My first bar job was in a traditional pub. When middle-aged couples came in, the man would always order and it would be a pint of bitter for himself and a half of lager & lime or whatever ‘in a ladies glass’. It all seemed so ridiculous & old fashioned even back in the early 90s.

I used to drink 4 halves of lager (cost £1) on a night out as a student in the 80s and never drink lager since. It’s too much volume and too many loo trips so I stick to shorts these days.

My first drink is usually a pint and then I switch to halves. I can’t physically drink that much lager or cider without feeling bloated so wouldn’t keep up with the others drinking pints. Also would be rushing off to the loo every 2 minutes after that much liquid!

I've I'm drinking lager which isn't often it'll be a pint.They taste better.

I don't drink anything that would come in a pint, or a half for that matter. (Hate beer) But if a female ordered either I genuinely wouldn't bat an eyelid either way.

Always pints. As a teen a drank pints with a straw, that’s embarrassing

Halves. I might have a cider then a lime and soda or a bottle of ginger beer, or two halves of two different ciders.

I drink pints with a straw if I have a coldsore because my lip swells up and it hurts. Tbh I drink everything with a straw at that point.

Anyone else really wanting a pint now?

I've been drinking pints for 50 years, and it really used to be frowned on in lots of pubs.

I don't think anyone bats an eyelid these days.

What drinks do you all like in your pint glasses? Right now, I'm on the tail end of a Theakston Old Peculier with another to follow shortly. Then I'll go to the tiny independent bar down the road and see what's to do there. It was Ilkley Brewey Stout Jane a couple of days ago. Very nice too.

In order of preference:

Real ale - I'll try anything but Marstons is a favourite
Guinness
Wiess bier/Trappist style biers
Bitter
(Last resort) Lager

As a student and in my early 20s I distinctly remember it being embarrassing to be seen with a half pint - if you did order a half, you'd quickly pour it into a pint glass!

Nowadays i tend to drink half pints - mainly because i can't drink as much as i used to and drink much slower than DH!

I don't drink, but when I did I generally had halves. I'd go too fast and ballsy with pints and tbh one sniff of a barmaids apron and I'm drunk, so it was never a good plan.

Cider. Nothing sweet though.

I'm definitely not averse to a pint, but I generally like the stronger ales, something between 6-9%, so if I'm drinking that I'll go for a half so that I'm not too pickled!

Mainly real ale. I'll drink bottles of craft ale. Occasionally a pint of cider.

Personally I wouldn't dream of drinking out of a pint glass. However I couldn't give 2 hoots what others do.

What?!! I’m sure I was paying 40p per half pint back in the 80’s! Used to drink half pints back then, in the hope that a lad would buy me my next drink ( very unfeminist I know, but needs must). Drink pints now cos I’m fat and 50 so no hope of that these days. 🤣

Ive always drank pints. But I like that lots of places do 2/3rds now, I’m not a fast drinker and sometimes my pint has gone warm before I finish!

Pints usually, otherwise bottles. Started drinking pints at 18 at university, unlikely to change after nearly 30 years!
