To ask what’s the most overrated restaurant you’ve eaten at?

I think for me, it’s a restaurant called “Tattu”. They’re dotted all around the UK and was so excited to try it but the food was so average yet they charge £100+ for two people based on a starter and main HmmConfused. Everyone who I know has been there absolutely loved it so maybe it’s just DP & I!

What’s the most overrated restaurant you’ve been to?

The man behind the curtain. Worst Michelin starred place I’ve been to by far!

Dollywilde · 19/11/2021 11:18

I had a bad experience at The Pig, but I’m assured by others it was a one-off - not sure I want to spend the £££ finding out!

Santaischeckinglists · 19/11/2021 11:19

Nandos.
Chicken and rice. Nowt special is it +

girlmom21 · 19/11/2021 11:28

Bella Italia. Modestly priced but the foods always just very average.
Then again I don't like the similar chains like Frankie and Bennys etc either.

VitalsStable · 19/11/2021 11:29

The Ivy. Any of them.

spookysoul · 19/11/2021 11:32

Miller & Carter. Every time I’m excited to go and then it never lives up to my expectations. There’s a small bar & grill in my hometown that does much much better steak.

FluffyBooBoo · 19/11/2021 11:32

A small Thai place in Edinburgh. I'm not going to name it, as it's an independent place. But I was told that it was the best Thai food they'd ever had, they totally raved about it. It was fine, but honestly not worth the money. Not much atmosphere, just a bit meh.

There are better and cheaper Thai places here.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 19/11/2021 11:33

The Hard Rock Cafe.

They dont have a particularly wide range, and the stuff they do sell is pretty uninspiring.

The staff are way too fucking chirpy too.

Fatgalslim · 19/11/2021 11:35

Fifteen (Jamie Oliver), shite

I loved Tattu!

I'd agree about any Hard Rock cafes. Boring bland menu and average food - no idea why people are desperate to go there.

My daughter raves about Miller and Carter, but I've never been that impressed with it. Our one has an annoying waiter who is desperate to give you his life story, but I just want to be served. Other people rave about him on TripAdvisor Hmm

Floogal · 19/11/2021 11:36

Me personally, we went to a South American chain restaurant in Leicester 17 years ago. Think was called Iguana. Food was nice in all fairness. But very expensive prices and tiny portions.

Agree about KFC and Nandos. Actually get far nicer fried chicken or Piri piri chicken in independent places to be honest

Their onion loaf is divine though

God yes, everyone raves about that bloody Shepherd's Pie and it was okay but not nearly as good as I can make at home!
Lachimolala · 19/11/2021 11:38

Sketch. So expensive for ridiculously mediocre food and you can’t move for the people taking selfie’s everywhere.

SW1amp · 19/11/2021 11:38

It's closed now, but The Ledbury

It was always in the 'top 10 restaurants in the country' lists, but DH and I had such an average meal there. The service was dreadful, the menu was meh, and I think the total bill came to something like £300

Siriisatwat · 19/11/2021 11:39

Fuck yes, The Ivy (the original). So, so awful.

Dh had sausage and mash, said he’d much better at the local cafe for a fiver.

And I make a far superior shepard’s pie. Waste of money.

DrManhattan · 19/11/2021 11:40

Bettys! Not a restaurant as such but massively over priced and stuff rude imo.

Emanchego · 19/11/2021 11:41

Almost every place i tried in London with good reviews. Lol. Try getting out of London 🤣🤮

Scbchl · 19/11/2021 11:41

The restaurant at Cameron House was terrible.

TooWicked · 19/11/2021 11:42

The Ivy

Gino De Campo’s restaurants - I’ve have had even a half decent meal in any of them.

ClaudiaWankleman · 19/11/2021 11:42

Jamie's Italian. For the sake of food I was glad it went out of business.

FluffyBooBoo · 19/11/2021 11:42

I totally third the hard rock cafe. The first time I went, it has a decent menu and the prices weren't too bad

The second time the menu was limited and really not great, and the prices had increased massively. There was maybe 18 months between visits.

I won't be going back.

ISpyCobraKai · 19/11/2021 11:43

@Scbchl
Martin Wishart?
The service there was awful, really snooty.
